European qualification would probably help our finances and in that respect we are no different from some other clubs, the fact we have just missed out the last two seasons makes things look a lot worse. Taken into account the fact that Pienaar and Arteta both WANTED to leave and didn't do it til too late to change anything last year meant we were left in the shit. I'm pretty sure that had we have qualified for Europe two seasons ago neither would have left and people would stop calling us a selling club. I'm not saying Kenwright is an angel, by no stretch of the imagination but as Avinalaff quite rightly pointed out just because two or three clubs have had an enormous injection of money it has completely changed the game and players wages wouldn't be close to what they are now. I Don't think it's that easy to find a rich foreigner who is willing to throw hundreds of millions at a club, and when they do it's actually only worked at man city and Chelsea. Look at the shite, look at Portsmouth, Blackburn, villa, Newcastle ( two years ago), Leeds. Be careful what you wish for. Also, bily, beck ford and Vaughan did pretty much naff all for this club so I really didn't care that they left!

Well as some one else points out above, it's 1.2 million a year to rent for a 50 year contract. If we buy it outright it'll only cost us 15mil excluding VAT ( providing the asking price hasn't changed). That's a significant difference, albeit money spread over a long period. Ha ha I didn't see that two people had already replied to the 'what benefit?' question! Seems i also need to read the whole thread before I post!
