  1. Spent an afternoon looking at the Everton collection in the library in the City Centre, well worth a look if it is still going, it was amazing the amount of artifacts they had there.
  2. Nice to get a deal wrapped up o quickly.Hopefully we can get a couple more in, though we are usually quiet in the January window. I heard rumours about Reyes, anyone got any info to back that up? He is a good player but I thought he hated the English weather? If so I doubt he would relish a cold wet day at Goodison every week!
  3. I can't sayI know the ins and outs of the clubs finances but just by looking at the graph it is apparent the board are doing their best to increase turnover and money flowing into the club. It just seems to flow right out again in player wages and we end up with a loss. Investment needs to come form somewhere. Still, mega-rich owned clubs aside, our financial results aren't thay bad, especially if you look at the debts racked up buy the likes of Liverpool!
  4. There are some good teams in the compeitiion this year, I can't see us getting too far, at least till ouyr injuries clear up.I thought our best chance of winning it was 2 years ago when angers made the final and played a team we had already beaten. If only we had beaten Fiorentina on pens....
  5. It is a opportunity missed though, World Cups don't come round very often and it is a sign of our mis-managemnt over tha spast 20 years that the likes of Plymouth and Bristol have grounds accepted yet our delapidated old ground (or a possible replacement) isn't consdiered. Chance missed.
  6. RIP Robert Enke, seemed a great prospect up until around 2003 from what I saw, seems his depression started just after this and got far worse, especially when his kid died.
  7. Aye, but the power required to knock a guy that weighs that much and towers above you that much is a lot more than the other 23 opponents he's fought. The Klitschko (sp?) bros will be a different kettle of fish...
  8. Is that really true, about the sweets? Because I'd always heard it was unrelated to EFC, and the historical football kits site doesn't show a single black and white striped kit...
  9. Based on this seasons performances, both would go straight down from the Premiership if they were involved.
  10. The three clubs linked rule - If three or more clubs are 'linked' with a move the story is either made up by an agent fishing, or by ajourno looking to cover his tracks...
  11. Saw the second half and it looked like a good fight. Can't understand why people thought Valuev would win, when you've got a difference like that its a no-brainer that neither will KO (big man too slow, small man lacks power) so the one that can move around more wins on points...
  12. Exactly - the floodgates have now opened. I can see lots of clubs following suite (indeed Chelsea havbe already made an announcement!). There are a lot of people on other forums laughing and gloating about the name change - I think a few will pretty soon have egg on their faces - who do you think will be the first to play in the 'Virgin Stadium' or the 'Smeg Arena'?
  13. I think almost every premiership club is in trouble, to be honest. I wouldn't get too hopeful about the Sun/NOTW saying Liverpool are screwed.
  14. Jeez, that is nice, especially the single tier stand. I'm willing to put a few quid on that it doesn't end up looking like the pictures though, not with the time period suggested.
  15. To be honest, with Kings previous, there was very little other options than a long stretch. And he's also not an England international, so theres that to think of too....
  16. Probably the best bit of advice for a Yank is not to drive, especially at rush hours, unless you happen to be a resident of one of the biggest U.S cities. I'm told the only comparison that can be made is with New York - it can take me 45 minutes to drive the 3 miles home from work, and I don't live in one of the worst areas for driving - in York, for example, it took me around an hour just to get out of the (very small) city centre on a friday evening. One thing I will advise you do is GO TO A CURRY HOUSE! A very british tradition!
  17. Agree. Im a centre back (sometimes right back) and the only goals i've ever scored have been with my head from a corner (i'm 6 ft 4) and screamers from waaay out. If it falls in front of you properly and you hit it at the right time, it's virtually unstoppable.
  18. Poisoned chalice IMO. If he does leave, I reckon it'll be to Celtic. No cash there at the moment, but a very good chance to win something and experience the champions league (if only the qualifiers!)
  19. I do hope its Strachan, and they get back in the Premiership soon - best interviewee MOTD have ever had.
  20. Fellaini = Carlton Palmer in disguise. I'm sure of it.
  21. My guess is a bit of slackness in the medical procedures. I'm not sure exactly what goes on there, but over the past few years we have signed players that have had serious injury and offfield problems. Saha and Van Der Meyde are the two i'm really thinking about, most fans could tell you they were problematic. Could otherwise be training, but then the injuries would all be similar. IIRC Blackburn had a problem with thigh strains a few years back, which magically dissappeared once Souness was gone...and the problem shifted itself up to Newcastle.
  22. If we were talking about an Englishman then maybe. Have you seen the Aussies defence? They are playing Craig Moore ffs! Him and Emerton will be called up if they don't make another first team appearance this year, and Lucas has never seemed to worry about being sat on the sidelines injured/suspended and picking up his paycheque before!
  23. Im not so sure. I reckon the constructors that had their challenge fall off early this year moved to concentrate on next years cars early, whilst Brawn and Red Bull put their efforts into this years. Back to Ferrari/Mclaren dominance I reckon.
  24. I suspect it'll suffer from the same problems as myfootballclub or whatever it was did. They are probably hoping that much of the income will be from attendance increases for the chosen team, rather than simply subscriptions. In reality I reckon it'll mainly be season ticket holders at other clubs which sign up, and they won't likely go anywhere. The other thing is that I don't think people in the UK will go for shared ownership like this, theres too much of a 'whats in it for me' vibe amongst the general public.
  25. He was almost made a Celtic player a few years ago under Strachan - but (i think) failed a medical. It's a big shame, because they would then have been able to field Balde/Fanni as a centre back pairing.
