Good tracking from Gerry there. Coleman and Williams made it to easy for Okaka to play the ball to Holebas.

At least if we do have a genuine 3 pronged attack we have more chance of picking up the second ball.

I don't mind 433 as long as the wingers are more like inside forwards and a lot closer to Lukaku than they normally are.

We can be really aggressive in centre midfield with Gana and McCarthy regaining possession a lot.

The last thing I want to see is McCarthy playing wide.

He hasn't done badly for a guy that can't play as a sole striker!

I think he is decent, still a bit raw but the talent looks like it's there. Direct and quick and I think I have seen him take corners/free kicks but could be wrong.

He's been poor in the rezzies, not scoring many and isn't good enough to play in our first team. He's 20 now he should be banging the door down of the first team squad.

I think he got injured for a large chunk of last season. He always seems to be mentioned in game reports I read but at the same time some of them are sub appearances.

I don't agree with all the nostalgia for David Moyes. It says something, though, when we hanker for upper mid-table instead of going for gold.

Me neither... he couldn't get united in the top 4 so why would he get us there?

We were only ever also rans under him the two managers since at least have the attitude to be the best even if it hasn't or isn't working out that well just now.

I will be amazed if he starts at the weekend.

It would be a bit too faced of Koeman to keep him in. You can't keep calling out the outfield players in press conferences, rotating and dropping and yet leave the guy that is actively losing us points on the pitch.

I really do give up with this thread, there are a million and one things wrong with our squad but a free scoring centre forward isn't one of them

We don't have a decent keeper, we have an ageing back four, we have zero creativity in midfield and we have 4 or 5 ineffective wingers yet Haf goes on a personal crusade against a striker with a 1:2 ratio because he doesn't run enough and people are starting to agree with him that he is the core of all evil

Get with the program Mike , goals mean nothing anymore. Any manager worth his salt knows that we should get rid of Lukaku, he offers fuck all apart from goals and assists. That's not what we want from a centre forward !

We should play James McCarthy upfront because he covers that much ground we would probably win the league, think he even scored once!

 

 

 

Yep why have Lukaku when you can get Shane Long... who wants 20-30 goals & assists a season when you can run 20 miles a game but couldn't hit a barn door.

Although in fairness Koeman's tactics are showing why Shane Long did so well last year!

Am I surprised that he came last and I would be interested to see where other strikers came but at the same time, I would be expecting him, as a central striker, to be run less distance than any of the outfield players bar maybe the centre backs. His main work will be short sharp bursts and not running the length of the pitch.

He certainly has an unknown quality about him but I don't think I have ever seen a player lose the ball as often as he has done recently.

Ibrahimovic is a Grade a twat. He was muscled off the ball by little seamus and had to exact revenge like some shit house bully.

 

Somehow it's seen as ok and a niggle? He heeled a lad in the temple- far from a niggle. Fuckin stupid. A kid sees that and replicates it but with adrenaline and you are looking at a head injury.

It looks far worse in slow mo than it really is. He clearly knows what he is doing but it's one of them that you take note of and then get him back later in the game. Either you or a team mate. Happens all the time in my 5 a side league, happened all the time when I played rugby too. At the end of the game you shake hands and have a pint together.

Yes it's bullying if you want to be soft like that but that's why he is one of the best players in the league. Same with Costa, albeit he is actually a nasty player.

There is a lot of shite in our squad.... lots of work to do.

I did a similar thing with Fifa. I was only left with Lukaku, Bolasie, Gerry, Ross, McCarthy, Gana, Baines, Williams, RFM and Coleman. Holgate/Galloway etc have stuck around with Dowell and Davies getting games from the bench.

Straight in was a keeper, a young replacement for Barry, a young beast of a centre back and another big young striker in Roms mould (physically). If only it was that easy!

I don't think he rates many of the players in the squad and is having to try and find a mix to get points until we can bring in the players he and Walsh deem the right ones.

 

Hopefully they've been working hard and we get the key ones in very early in January. No scrambling around on deadline day again.

I get the same feeling however he started with a good balance and has then tinkered it. Lennon isn't going to be one of his style of players yet he has started him a couple of times and he was anonymous too.

Alas, Koeman has said he expects him (and Coleman) to be fit next week.

Surely that tops anything Martinez ever said!

He does have the most assists but other than Lukaku he has probably played the most minutes too.
