  1. The only time i'll take note of a rumour is when we're linked with a centre back as personally that would be my priority. Yeh, everyone loves forwards and playmakers but with subbsy getting on (and showing it-lack of pace anyway), we've only really two specialist centre backs - roger & yobo.

Jagielka would tick a few boxes although not get many excited but i think DM is being clever with a move like that if it happens - if everything went wrong in uefa we wouldn't have some mercenary on our hands wantin to jump ship and his wages prob wouldn't be too much so it seems like a bit of a 'just in case shit happens' transfer.

Surely the positions we need to look at are:

    Centre back

    Right/left back

Winger/playmaker (depends on most common formation he'll use)

On a free/cheap - I'd also look for an experienced (european) forward who wants to make his mark in the prem like zola, bergkamp, di canio did.

  2. Top player but been a nob too often. Minus the baggage and i'd say gr8 news (if it happens) but as it stands i'd say don't touch him with a barge pole. 2 things i really don't understand:

    1. People saying surely he'll behave once he's here - how can you say, just cos he's a blue nowadays means nowt, rooney was a blue. The least he would do is get people's backs up.

    2. Can't believe for one minute that DM would risk bringing him in...it's juts not his style.

For me, the answer is Fernandes on a year loan then lets see who's around. Not sure we even need a centre mid - got cahill, arteta, neville, carsley, osman, (fernandes).

  3. Reckon quality cover all over the pitch is a priority:

If Howards injured/suspended do we have a proven 2nd keeper (not really tho i have hope for turner/ruddy)

Hibbert - No cover really apart from Pip/Joey?? but Hibbert has looked shaky to me and i'd look for a new RB with TH as cover.

Valente - Suppose Naysmith does an ok job but again could do with better cover (and ship out Pistone). Lescotts been a revelation there but should be kept at CB???

Jobo & Lescott - Only Stubbs who can cover so defo need one top CB signing.

Cahill/Neville/Arteta/(Fernandes)/Osman/McFadden/Carsley/(VDM??) - reckon just one top signing will do in addition to fernandes and can see VDM goin so try to get a winger in.

Johnson/Vaughan/Vic/BT - BT has to go which l;eaves us a little light up front unless McFad can impress. Reckon again, one quality signing should do but maybe look at another from a lower lg team too to keep em all fightin for places (ie scoring!).

If we can manage gettin decent cover, the domestic league form shouldn't suffer.

  4. Bolton losing was a bonus but can we catch em? I'm hoping Reading, Portsmouth (& blackburn) will start to drop but it's spurs who concern me. We just need a gap below us then I reckon we'll relax and push on. It's all in our hands really, next up....gooners!

Looking at fixtures and being realstic, baring any surpirises, reckon we'll get another 13 points so if any stato's are reading this will that be enough for uefa (hypothetical obviously cos of other teams results).

  5. It will probably just be a one-off, ie; we prob won't be applying everytime we're 8th, 7th etc so let's just run with it, see what happens and we'll all be happy if we end up in the uefa from it. People will forget how we got there and if anything, you could argue that you deserve more credit from gettin in to uefa via intertoto cos of the xtra games.

Wouldn't worry to much about our small squad as if we do end up playing 'umpa lumpa fc', we'll probably win by playing naysmith, wright, carsley anyway! Also, a couple of loan signings would help us thru it too.

For me europe is a must...by wotever means!

  6. Absolutely agree with bluetrip.

Was quite happy when he signed but he had enough chances inlcuding in his favoured position (whatever that was). I reckon he just wasn't good enough at our level but at Fulham he's got more chance to shine.

We did well gettin eg £2.5m or whatever we got.

And i really don't think he's done that much to since leavin-2 decent gamesbut he could go on a typical cack run of 20+ games now. Ossie's better and even mcfudge!

  7. My dream!

That was our big chance of becoming the envy of the league/europe/world all over again, a unique location and not some poxy retail outlet style site we're now faced with...GUTTED!

If anyone has any way of contacting EFC, PLS write in and plead with them to come up with a similar site & stadium - one that'll set us apart. And surely to keep with the times it must be a dome style, not just four detached stands.

  8. All i know is I was in NYC about 2 yrs ago and watched prem footy but was never sure if it was live!

It was called 'the irish bar' (imaginative  ) and i'd guess it was roughly on 55th & 8th.

Oops, just re-read your original post - if there's a crowd of you, don't bother...the place can only handle about 15!

  9. last season each place in the league was worth £500,000 with the 1st place getting £30m

this season the 1st place gets £42.5m, 20th gets £30m, roughly £625,000 for each place

Cheers for that, thought it was somethin like that. So surely it's worth finishing 6th for the extra £625k rather than 7th. Here's a good'un-can anyone put a figure on how much the uefa would cost us if say we went out before quater stages? Surely not much more than £625k. It's short-sighted simple as that cos he's not lookin at the spin-offs that come with european footie. It adds to our players value in the evnt of selling, it raises our profile, it makes us more attractive to buy in to as an investment and sponsership and players would be more attracted to us.
