  1. Don't forget we "sold" stones.... he didn't leave. Personally I was delighted with the money. Till he learns to concentrate on defending he will be a bit of an English David Luiz without the free kick. Talented player on the ball but a space cadet at times.

Lukaku? Take a look at his thread if you have a spare 2 days, I dont rate him as all that and despite him wanting to leave we are able to name our price which wasn't met. He will be sold if and when we decide.

Barkley will only be moved on if we decide he's not up to it. He will have competition for his place very soon from dowell.

All in all with a new dock side stadium on the horizon. A billionaire owner, new manager and all that stuff things are looking good. Our Director of football seems to know what he's doing... take a look at gueye.

Please don't hinge your business plan on us selling holgate... you got pretty desperate when we rebuffed chelsea last year... was sad to see.

You kept Stones last summer because you made him promise you couldn't keep. No players currently at Everton will buy that again.

Having a wealthy owner gets you nothing, how much have you spent this summer. farhad moshiri got 1/9 of the wealth Abdullah bin Musa'ed bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and look at what they've spent since he arrived.

  2. On our terms it does yeah.... that's why we got ashley williams in for less than a quarter of the price of stones before selling him. We clearly had Holgate as a ready shoe in (thanks for him btw - looks better) added to jags, Galloway, mori and likely to be Kone it was good business to sell the lad. It's how we roll these days.

In all seriousness you are a good source for Yorkshire based talent... keep em coming!

I enjoy or enjoyed watching Everton but everything comes to it's end. I can see lukaku barkley leaving in the next 13 month. They will see what Stones gets to experience and want some of the pie.

  3. you're sensitive sorts on here aren't you.

Didn't like it when Stones told you to calm down (rightfully so) and when I come on to tell you a little bit about a player most of you haven't seen much you got all defensive.

but money doesn't buy your players, right?

  4. Mate enjoy the stones sell on fee, hope you can stay up in the championship. Do you have any insider knowledge as to whether you have a sell on fee with holgate like you did stones? Stones was 15%

It's a more complex deal to the Stones one. It's got clauses in for all sorts. You may or may not know that Barnsley received money for him making his debut last week.

I've heard the deals also got a sell on like Stones but could be a higher percentage.

  5. Great to see Mason Holgate doing well at Everton. Okay, it's very early but he's a highly talented defender that's had the pressure of living in Stones shadow for a long time. Be that at Barnsley or Everton.

What you have in Mason Holgate is a highly driven young footballer that will do whatever he thinks best for one person, Mason.

So hopefully it turns out well for him at Goodison but just remember that he's on a journey to the very top and most likely will be looking to move at some point when he's reached the summit of what Everton can give him

  6. Name me these players in recent times not the past as you were dismissive about just that and our clubs past previously that have been developed and left those clubs

Bale? Who else? Spurs are possibly one of if not the biggest graveyards for players around and Westham bar their new ground have what exactly to offer?

Your coming across clueless and bitter to be honest bar London being a draw ti some players your last post is fabricated nonsense

Carrick, Modric to name two more.

  7. I was just putting over a view without the blue tinted glasses of this forum.

Honestly I don't think it's good for Everton everythings that gone off.

Everton are a club that haven't sold a player that wanted to leave and could have got the second highest fee of any defender in the world.

Now other up and coming players will be thinking. I've got a,b and c to pick from. Say Tottenham Spurs and West Ham to choose from. tottenham have a proven record of developing players and when they want to leave they get a very good fee for them but don't hold them to ransom. Also a London club which is massive to a lot of players. West ham, a up and coming club that will be moving to a new stadium in London. Again given the chance they would develop a player and then sell him for a good fee.

Everton on the other hand, A northern club, okay developed players to a good level but won't let them go.

Hes got a big agent that plenty of contacts.

  8. dude i think you think we are a feeder club for chelsea. we are not their reserve side. if he loses value? good, then he will stay and we don't have to lose him. his value is irrelevant to us unless we decide to sell which at this point we won't.

    I think I'm realistic.

Everton aren't a top top club in England never mind a top club in Europe . Everton have had to sell players in the past.

Tottenham, Manchester United, arsenal, Liverpool have all had to sell players that they wouldn't have wanted to so why not Everton. You have done that before.

Realistically Everton aren't a champions league team and don't look like been one in the future.

Lukaku made comments was it last season saying that he hopes to sign for a top club in the future.

  9. Don't remember a 2 month public pursuit after publicly stating several times, getting our players to speak to the papers and SSN etc bigging it up and up and every pundit / journalist telling the world that he's too good for our club and should move for his future. There's been a massive difference in the 2 situations, and in general we are very well known for negotiating with respect and class.

As for the pricks that shouted abuse at him, they are just that - pricks. Don't mix them up with Everton fans.

It might not have been so high profile but Barnsley fans were seeing news clips every day.

  10. Why do Everton come out of it bad?

For me they have been hypercritical on what they've said.

Let's go back 18/20 month. Stones was a Barnsley player and Barnsley said all the things that Everton have said over the last few weeks. But did Everton just say ok? And leave it? NO they turned the players head at the worst possible time. The last day of the transfer window and the deal went though with only hours to go. Before anyone says Martinez wasn't at Everton at the time he was at Wigan and they tried the same thing.

For me A lot of people are thinking of the player and his development which will be benafical the national team do well in the future.

Both Everton and Manchester United are affectively holding back a player from improving and that doesn't sit well with a lot of people. Now they have both said, let me go and improve.

Now what does a human after do to improve ? Go on strike?

With the abuse stones got I wouldn't blame him for it. F--k off stones, f--k off stones you f--king rat was the message he got off Everton fans when he left the field at half time on Wednesday night. Stones never got that from Barnsley fans but maybe that's because he's one of our own.

It's been reported Everton have had a bid of 37/38 million pound. Now that's a great offer and Everton should be saying thank you John its in your court now.

Everton the club and fans seem to think it's one rule for them and a different rules for others.

  11. Thought your lot were superb, young but hungry and fearless. All the best for the rest of the season, though if you have that drive within the team, luck wont be that big a part of your success

The problem for Barnsley are that teams come to oakwell and don't want to attack.

On Saturday a very physical Bradford came and 4/5 times during the first half had all 11 players behind the ball in their own half.

  12. We've got a very young team Mark

    Davies 23

    Wabara 23

Roberts (cb with long through, first year in league football)25

    Mawson 21

    Nyatanga 27

    Scowen 22

    Pearson20 (onloan from Man U)

    Watkins 24

    Crowley 18 (Loan arsenal)

    Hourihane 24

    Winnall 24

    Rothwell 20 (loan man u)

    Smith 19

    Wilkinson 20 (loan from Botlon)

Others on bench 20 18 19 all from Barnsley academy

  13. Everton really have some top players and it was a pleasure to watch them fight tonight.

Seeing Lukaku IRL's some sight. The guys a beast of a man but got the pace of a slight sprinter. When he ran with the ball at full speed it was scary but amazing to watch. I put on here yesterday that he was one of the players i admired the most and thats very much still the case.

Deulofeu, simply won you the match. Everton were flat at times in the first half but when he come on you had pace out wide. Created all you goals apart from one? We had a CB at left back and unfortunately he tore him apart.

Good to see so many Everton fans make the trip over. for sections of the match you lot really made yourself heard.

Stones, those that made the trip over would have seen what we think of him and what he thinks of us. Several times using the match he applauded the barnsley fans and Barnsley fans sang a song near the end.

  14. If you manage to get a replay, drive through croxteth, that's where Wayne Rooney learned his craft, drive through wavertree that's where Ross Barkley is from, we aren't slouches when it comes to developing talent.

Something Stones would likely atest to himself.

Imagine what you lot could do with £40m!? It's just unlikely you will get players into the England set up. That's the problem.

Everton are a good club. Love the way you play at Everton. Lukaku's one of the players I admire the most in the prem.

You can develop players well. Like I said. I was pleased when Stones and Holgate joined Everton.

If Bree does well this season and he joins Everton in the future, I will be pleased too.

    Why?

Because Everton under Martinez at least will give young players a chance. But when they become very good you will sell for very good money and Barnsley would get a good deal too.

  15. This will be his 1st full season as 1st choice alongside Jags, he's still learning. Look at Zouma; one of the brightest defensive prospects in world football before he sat on Chelsea's bench. I hope for your sake Stones can kick on but he won't have time to make the mistakes of which he's made plenty of here. It's a year too soon in my opinion. A couple of bad games and he could fall out of favour with Jose, someone who doesn't give many second/third chances; Cuardado being the latest example. Stay here, prove that you're one of the best in the league/Europe, go to the Euros as 1st choice for club and country. He could have his pick beyond Chelsea next summer.

On the topic of Holgate, I'm sure he'll become 'one of your own' should his career kick on and maybe produce another big sell-on percentage one day - us football fans are a fickle bunch!

Since John Stones been 16 hes always faced up to challenges and worked them out pretty quickly. It was said when he first came into the Barnsley team at 18. Stones will make mistakes but he'll not make them twice. Emnes got past him early on, He didn't get past him again the entire match after that. That was Stones League debut.

Mason Holgate sadly will be a Fans favorite at Oakwell, for the things listed above. Just like Jacob Butterfield will not for example (Barnsley fans have given him a lot of abuse)

  16. Probably more than that in reality.

You're obviously proud of Stones, rightfully so. We took him far beyond what he could ever have been at Barnsley and Chelsea should continue that progression. What are your thoughts should sitting on the bench stall his progression? My thoughts are, you're more excited about the £5m odd sell-on coming your way. I think the best move for Stones' development/ EFC is one more season here and that would probably bring more money to Barnsley. Out of interest, if you could pick a club for him to join, who would it be (obviously not Barnsley)?

    How's Adam Davies getting on?

    He's one of our own.

    Finally someone been polite.

    ''You're obviously proud of Stones''

We are. You'd not hear a bad word about Stones from Barnsley fans. Having spoken to him when he was 16 and then after he joined you lot hes not changed. Still just a normal guy that loves what hes doing and a great ambassador for Barnsley and the youth system at the club.

''We took him far beyond what he could ever have been at Barnsley and Chelsea should continue that progression''

Ever were perfect for him. Then when Martinez joined Everton the he couldn't ask for anymore could he. Wigan wanted him when Everton got him and hes a great manager at developing people that are natural footballers.Chelsea would be the next move for him and he would improve still to hopefully a regular England CB and more. Maybe a move to Europe After that. Maybe Barca?

I'd love him to move because I don't want him to become stale, he always need to after improve for me. At Everton he might get the same test at the same level a lot and not be tested on the next level too much. Not been disrespectful, just how I see it.

    ''How's Adam Davies getting on?''

Improvising every match. Come to the club from Sheffield Wednesday and he made a lot of mistakes in pre season. Hes become the number one at Barnsley this season. Did very well second half of the season 2014/2015.

  17. I've already been warned once so I have to tread lightly.... Of I told him to fuck off I'd be charged by the authorities

Really not trying to wind anyone up.

    Just saying what I understand.

I've enjoyed reading the forum in the last 18 month or so since Stones joined Everton,

I did say, enjoy him though because he would join a bigger team
