Lee Molyneux (signed For Southampton)

Recommended Posts

He's been with us for a few years now so I would not be too dissapointed if we let him go. I think that he would do well at Celtic even though he would only be a squad player there. I think that a loan spell would be better but then when he returned he would be baggage like he is now.

Agree with Mark. He's never going to be a first team player at Goodison so we might aswell let him go.

Certainly can't see him being a superstar.

mate you have no fucking clue how can you prove that he wont be any good?

What, are we supposed to keep EVERY single player on ours books just in case?

Owen got 23 goals as an 18 year old in his first season for Liverpool. Who said he wasn't going to be a superstar? I was already sick of name after he got his first goal the season before.

The reason is that the players don't even bare comparison. By this time in Owen's career he was already a household name, pretty much around the world, Molyneux is barely known around Goodison! It is ludicrous to think that we should hold onto every single player that comes through the youth ranks becasue Micheal Owen also came through the youth ranks of another team. Oh wait, every single player ever came through the ranks at some point!

You really come out with some shit sometimes. If he is good enough to play for us then he would be playing for us. Its not about age but talent. Personaly I can't see the lad making the cut here and I would have no problem with him leaving. He's looked ok at reserve level, never spectacular, but reserve level football is a complee different ball game than top-flight. If he was good enough and shining at reserve's then he would be at least making appearances on the bench, or championsip sides would be clammouring for his loan signing. But he isn't, and there not. Thats why I don't think he'll be any good? Why do you think he will be any good? Did you play against him while on trial at Lazio and he stopped you scoring a hattrick unlike that other chump that you pissed on from a great height.... i look forward to your next farcical post.

Because the scottish league is nowhere near as competitve or as high quality as the premier league. I'm not trying to slate it but its true, its why a player such as James McFadden chose to play with Birmingham in the Championship rather than move to Celtic or Rangers in the SPL.

That is a good example actually, a scottish born player with the oppurtunity to go back "home" and play in his homeland...what does he do, move to Birmingham.

As said above not going to really get a look in at LB with 3 players ahead of him, the lad probably wanted first team football and that was granted. Moyes seems to be smart enough to put in a sell on clause in his contract hense the free transfer so if like Ant expects he becomes a superstar at least we get something out of it!!

Good look to him. He should do good for Southampton and hopefully push back up the leagues. He was always good for the reserves, but he was never going to make it as an Everton first-team regular. He would at best be used in the Carling Cup games to stand in.

The write-up on the Saints website makes me laugh. I think its the same one Josh is talking about.

From Saintsfc.co.uk: 'A product of Everton’s Academy, Molyneux has picked up 24 England caps at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18’s level, and was turning heads whilst playing for the Toffeemen’s Reserves when he suffered two slipped discs in his back, which required an operation at the start of the 2007/08 season.

Now fully-fit again, he made his début for Everton Reserves aged just 16, and despite his early years, he has already developed something of a reputation as a free-kick specialist, including a memorable strike during a Mersey-side Reserves derby match that saw Everton defeat Liverpool 3-2.

Pace is another asset at his disposal and Lee is not afraid to attack as well as defend. He is also able to play in a more forward position in midfield, making Molyneux another versatile young addition to Jan Poortvliet’s squad.'
