The 29 year old Real Mardrid striker, has had 'positive' talks with the Merseyside club and will join the Blues initially on loan for the duration of the 2006-07 season.

A fee of £5million has been agreed with the Bernabeu giants to be paid at any time that Everton feel they want the former PSV and Barcelona player to join them permanently.

Ronaldo has been struggling with injury and form this season and is almost certain to leave La Liga at the end of the season.

Everton manager David Moyes has spoken with representatives for the player and Madrid officials and has thrashed out a deal to bring the legendary player to Goodison.

Wages will be paid half by Everton and half by Madrid until a permanent deal is struck.

This is a fantastic signing and will help James Beattie up front next season to make Everton a force once again.

  • 2 weeks later...

Romario is still playing ( nearing 40) & yes still throwing tantrums....But yes still scoring championship winning goals back in his native Brazil.

Still laff @ his Barceloina time, When Johan Cruyff joyfully Announced to the world..This club is isnt big enough for both of us .

Either HE goes or I Go................Needless to say the Legendary Cruyff was hurridly moved on, whilst Romario stayed a little longer thr0wing his teddy from the cot @ regular intervals..

Geez Batistuta was a terrific striker, would like a clone as such.
