jamiemaher85
Won't happen, but I would eat my house if it did. I really rate him highly as a player and would love more than anything to see him in an Everton shirt. He's the kind of signing the club needs. Unfortunatly it will never ever happen. Anto-EFC
We couldnt afford his boots at the moment but... if Lescott goes this week for £25m for example and we get Senderos for £5m, that leaves a bid of, say, £10m and leave the rest for a big contract and you never know! or am I being unusually optimistic for a Sunday morning. Edited: then again would prefer Sneijder Edited August 9, 2009 by Anto-EFC

Would love him here but again, its innevitable he wont be coming here. If Villa get him, i'd be a tad jealous tbh! Personally i'd prefer Van Der Vaart to Sneijder...but thats opinion. jon1993
He wanted to join everton last summer but couldnt force a way through, I remember that van der vaart was going to accept 50k a week from us but the deal collapsed. So it could happen it just depends on how much he is worth now after a season with madrid.

blueblood
May as well link us with Ronaldo or Ribery as this is about as likely to happen. Or is it... Villa are linked with Sneider, so unless they sell Young to Spurs then I can't see them buying another £10m+ player. Spurs are after Young for £20m+ and just got Bassong for £10m, City can't have enough room left in their midfield for him, although money isn't an issue. Still, can't see it happening

Just a thought, but when I was 'watching' the Holland - England game on Wednesday, I heard that Van Der Vaart's Wife has had the misfortune of being diagnosed with breast cancer. Van Der Vaart has already stated that his next club will be chosen with her treatment in mind, and seing as the Royal and Broadgreen hospitals are a specialist cancer Trust, with the Linda McCartney centre at the royal one of the pioneers in breast cancer research, that might attract him to our city. Whether it's us or 'those from over there' he chooses, is a different matter, but that might make the amazing youtube video (if Jamie keeps to his word!ha) a bit closer than first thought! Sorry for the long post!!
rubecula
Post is fine. I agree about the centres though. He may just come here and there is the Roy Castle place too.

True, it seems that he is one of the only top footballers around that isnt primarily motivated by dollars!!! A characteristic that not many top players can boast. Also, he will be coming to the 5th best team, in the best league in the world!

Sorry for the long post!! I'll gladly post a video. In fact i'll eat every house in my street if it happens. But it won't so i wont be buying a larger pair of trousers and re-enforcing the toilet just yet. As I side note, did not know about Van Der Vaart's situation with his wife. Awful thing to have to go through. All the best to the Van Der Vaart family. Does this condition apply to this transfer window only? I think we may need to set up a policy for this ha Also, I second the regards to the Van Der Vaart family! LexKing
I dunno what has happened in his family, but as a player i rate him high. Individual, what we would have a lot of use on field
inertia8
He would bring the creativity sorely lacking from our team... we need more chance creation. It's been said on here before, creative midfielder feeding the lone striker and the likes of cahill feeding off him.

blueblood
From the BBC website today: Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is ready to make a £10m offer for Real Madrid's Dutch midfielder Rafael van der Vaart. They must have decided that Aquilani won't play much after all!!!!
