Bill
What the hells going on there, Svenn in, Sol Campbell in and out again, but loads of players have come in on higher wages, supposedly to take them to a higher league. Notts County's owners Munto Finance have put the club up for sale, reports BBC Radio Nottingham. It is understood that there are already potential buyers including director of football Sven-Goran Eriksson and executive chairman Peter Trembling. They are thought to be in talks with Notts about a possible buyout. Munto only bought the club in July and revealed ambitious plans to transform the League Two strugglers into a Championship side within five years. The new owners promised to invest millions of pounds and a host of new players arrived at the club before the close of the transfer window in August. Former England international Sol Campbell was a high-profile early capture, but infamously left the club after just one appearance. And then manager Ian McParland also left Meadow Lane in October despite the fact the club were in the League Two play-off spots. Since then Notts have stayed in the running for promotion and are just two points off the top three. But the club have constantly been in the headlines since the summer takeover. Mystery surrounded the identity of the club's new Middle Eastern owners and the buyout was only ratified by the Football League in October. Notts were also had to deal with a winding-up petition issued by the High Court in November in relation to a six-figure debt accrued before Munto Finance took over. BBC Radio Nottingham's Notts County correspondent Colin Slater outlined the current state of play at Meadow Lane. "There are four facts: Notts County is on the market. Munto Finance are seeking to dispose of the club. Munto are in contact with some potential buyers. Eriksson and Trembling are in talks about a possible management buyout." MikeO
Another cautionary tale for those who'd have BK sell to the first bloke to walk into his office wearing a galabiyya and waving a cheque book .
