Because they needed to cut out something that the kid said, maybe a stammer or a stumble, or he might just have paused for thought. It's a good edit because the kid doesn't appear to move but watch his face closely when the "ghost" disappears and you'll see it move....eyebrows in particular are the give-away. The Banner at the bottom of the Screen and the kids face are a big give away. Although i do believe in this sort of thing.
