Martin Jol fired from Fulham

Was given the boot today after getting beaten by WH yesterday.

 

Will Fulham be better off without him? I kinda respect him, think he is a good manager.

Weirdly, I've had a few meetings with some of the behind the scenes Fulham staff this year with work (boring off the pitch related stuff), and spent a bit of time at their training ground. Ever since the newchairman came in, the atmosphere totally changed around the club from being really friendly and open to quite closed and reserved. The day that Meulensteen was appointed as assistant I wasn't surprised to get a call to say that the project we were setting up collapsed - I was told it was because there are big changes coming.

 

My feeling is that Jol has been or felt undermined since Khan arrived and it's been a bit of a vicious circle since then. I think that he's a good manager but it does always seem to end in tears at every club after 3 years or so.

I think he's a rather sour man and in recent years he's completely ignored a club's culture (at Ajax) and he's favoured signing washed up veterans he's coached before over giving youthful players a chance (at Ajax and Fulham). Glad BK didn't try for him this summer.

I used to think he was a good manager but Fulham have been dreadful at times this season and even though they somehow managed to beat us in the cup, he probably should have gone long before now.
