MC11
Sad day! Was always great listening to the phone on's on the way home from the game. End of an era!
Louis
Apparently they're not going to offer live football commentary any more. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/radio-city-967-end-live-9702635 It would seem they've been priced out of buying the rights, I can't think of another reason for them not wanting the rights. Hafnia
Sad times. I actually sat on the same table as vinny in primary school and he used to practice commentating all the time, big blue and I was madeup to see him get a media career. I also know Alan Irwin pretty well (he's a red btw) and I'm sure he along with Vinny will be gutted about this. It's an institution. I think sky will give more work to Al as he seems to be popular, especially with dildos. The radio was a great way of catching the game back in 80's and 90's when you couldn't make it or it was away from home. Sad this it really is. Hafnia
Best games I listened to on radio was the last day survival against wimbledon and the luton town fa cup semi final. I loved the game on the radio as an 8 year old too young to go the night games.
Louis
I think BBC Radio Merseyside still have the rights, it's just that Bauer have decided it's not worth the bother.
