The FA have charged Everton following an incident in last week's mini-derby encounter against Liverpool.

A melee between sets of players from both sides took place following the incident that led to Liverpool goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek being dismissed for violent conduct.

The Poland international raised his hands to Victor Anichebe after reacting angrily to a challenge from the teenager.

The FA has reviewed a video of the incident and opted to charge Everton. It is anticipated Liverpool will receive the same charge.

Club secretary David Harrison told evertonfc.com: "We have been charged with a breach of FA rule E20, which is failure to control our players.

"We have until the first of November to reply and we also have the opportunity to request a personal hearing befoer the commission, should we wish to do so."
