He'll probably know a lot of specialists over there and if he knows who's doing it then it's got to be a bonus. I just hope this Spanish Doc can get him fixed for next season. Does anyone know what he's actually going to do? And Leighton seems to be looking foreward to a few cracks at goal tomorrow against Brom. Article below. I read somewhere, on the OS I think, that we have (i'll try and quote here) "the best specialist in UK, Europe and America." The European one is Spanish, I believe, so it makes sense for Arteta to choose that one, I know I'd feel more comfortable having an operation with people around me speaking my language - I think it would also help in a more speedy recovery .I seem to remember that he went back to Spain for his last op, and I think he feels he can rest and recuperate there well. Understandable considering our injury situation, the main issue without question being can we really replace Mikel? We can ask people to play out of position, but can we ask them to run the show with such elegance and grace at the same time looking pretty damn good with not a hair out of place? But cheer up. For those of you out there who remember the 1985 team cast your minds back and rally with the thought of what happened to Adrian Heath mid season and how we took the news that his season was over. By early May we were champions and the team strolled around Goodison Park soaking in the adulation with all the time in the world, not wanting the moment to stop. From nowhere two of the players hoisted Adrian Heath into the air and they carried him passed the Bullens Road paddock. You couldn't have expected that the noise level could possibly have gone louder but it did at that point of time. Let's remain positive. Let's keep the enthusiasm going for a good run in the F.A. cup and live for the moment of not only lifting the cup, but live with the thought that two of the players remember Mikel's contribution to the momentum we have and we see Mikel being carried shoulder high and praises being adorned upon him. With this thought in our minds keep the spirits high, keep the web sites optimistic and let's channel this energy towards the players who surely must respond if they feel it too. Heath was a good player, but I don't think you can compare him with Arteta and I, for one, certainly didn't think our season was over when he got injured (but I don't think our season is over this time either ). Sang "Inchy is back!" as loud as anyone (Charity Shield '85 when he scored from the bench) but I don't think history will put him at the same level of influence as Mikel. dark Posted March 4, 2009 Author Report Share Posted March 4, 2009 Everton Head Physiotherapist, Mick Rathbone, has exclusively revealed that Mikel Arteta’s knee operation has gone very well indeed.The Spanish midfielder went under the knife in Barcelona earlier today (Tuesday) and Rathbone is delighted with the news from the hospital. His operation seems to be having some good success and he should be back to form soon and ready for the new campaign. For some reason that made me laugh. It's good to see that he's on the road to recovery, the team just isn't the same without him and with him part of the setup we can push for a Champions League place and over-take Arsenal. Arsenal are looking like a UEFA team now and someone will knock them off the last Champions League place in the next 2-3 years. It's good to hear the operation was a success and he's getting back into light training (after the doctors said don't do too much it shows that he can do something) I guess its all going well for Mikel now. Totally agree, that list forgets to metion Walcott! Bloody young side too. Things are great with everton but we need a few more players yet before we can think of champions league. He is still over in Spain being looked over by the Spanish trainers. The defender, a candidate for player of the season, pulled up after stretching for a high ball at Goodison on Saturday. It seems like the Mikel Arteta sage all over again. If we are without Phil for the Chelsea game then were really knocked down a notch. This could be a big blow to our season While Blues boss David Moyes says it's too early to make predictions over the injury, he admitted he is expecting the worst. "Phil will go and get a scan later and we will look at the results from that," said Moyes. "I can't say at this time that it looks like good news." This could be a big blow to our season I thought Yobo did alright on Wed against Chelsea while Jags was rested. Whilst i agree it is a blow i think we have enough in Yobo & Lescott, despite Joeys lack of a run of games.. At least the two will have a good few games together before the final. Feel really sorry for Jagielka though, playing tremendously well all season but missing out on the biggest game of his career (so far) right at the end. gutting.
