  1. To be fair, no one would've expected him to shoot. No one near him either though, not good.

Especially on his left, but either way it's a failure of ours in marking him or closing down. He had way too much space. Think it might've been a little of both.

  2. Hard to predict the line-up for this one following our couple of last minute signings and the international break. Hope we go at Ivanovic with Del & Mirallas switching wings. I'd also argue that Kone deserves to start up front on his own based on form, with a fired up Lukaku to be unleashed off the bench, though that could be a bit too risky a move against what should be a very motivated Chelsea.

  3. I don't think he is injured and he is absent from Man U squad for their Champs league game. Conspiracy theorists, make of it what you will.

I think that's more due to LVG not rating him any more, not necessarily because he's been sold. Can't see him staying beyond this or the next transfer window though.

  4. I'm in agreement with those saying there's no point bringing him in as a utility/squad player. He'll be on much too high a wage for that sort of role.

I actually thought he did alright from what I saw of him at West Ham though. He'd probably be the most creative CM in our squad along with Gibson if he signed. There's just no real reason to go after when we're much more desperate for CB cover and a No. 10/wide playmaker type player.

  5. Considering we had to bat for 150 overs to save the game we decided to bat in 20/20 mode. Four players caught behind flashing at wide balls plus a run-out. A run-out when you need to bat out a draw!!!!

The run out was one of the funniest things I've seen on a cricket pitch. U-12s would be embarrassed by that sort of running.

Also it's hard to say when England were already mentally shot chasing 500, but they looked scared (circa Ashes 12-13) of Johnson and the Australian attack. The 4 or 5 English batsmen going out to wide ones were stuck on the crease and fending at the ball. It's a very ominous sign.

  6. Sorry, but IF we sign 10 players over the summer (and we all know that's a massive if) either:

    a) Quite a few of those signings will be youngsters to sit in the reserves and will get there chance in the future, or

    B) Our squad will look ridiculously disjointed, aka Spurs post Bale and Liverpool post Suarez, and large amounts of that money will be wasted.

Without any European football and assuming we can keep ahold of our key players I'd be happy for us to just add Lennon, a solid, reliable back up CB, a playmaker of real quality and ideally a better back up for Lukaku over the summer. If Mirallas or any other starter were to leave they'd need replacing too.

  7. I'd be voting for Hazard or De Gea if I could. Both have been consistently outstanding this year, while (in my mind at least) winning the most points for their respective teams off their own boots (or gloves).

On YPotY I really think they need to drop the eligibility age to 21 and under from the start of the season from the current 23. I don't really understand how a 23 year old (turning 24 during the season) likely to have a few seasons under his belt can be considered a true young player in the game. Would much prefer it to be given to players 21 years and younger in order to better highlight a true breakout season.

  8. Sherwood's pretty much summing him up for me. Great all round player, that in a lot of ways helps Coleman's attacking game with his defensive work rate. At the same time he's a bit basic in terms of attacking intelligence. Something that means he either needs a few dangerous attacking options around him to score, or needs to improve his attacking exploits in terms of goals or assists.

  9. While I'd like us to bring in Lennon on a permanent deal, for me I won't be happy if he's brought in as a Mirallas replacement, or an undisputed starter.

I'd like him to be 1 of 3 main wingers in the side with Mirallas (or his replacement) and a quick footed playmaker-esc wideman (Pienaar if he shows form & fitness in our remaining games, else a young replacement). That way we'll have 3 genuinely differing options to call on, with Mirallas (or replacement) the direct goal scorer, Pienaar (or replacement) the slick build up player and Lennon to provide some width and grit out wide when needed.
