  1. Pretty awful showing. Lukaku set up the goal and did a respectable job in winning 50/50s, so I went with him.
  2. Eh. Well for starters Everton haven't been at their best. However, I "blame" WBA mostly, even though they're doing the right thing. They know they don't have the talent to play with us, so they're just clogging up the midfield and slowing the flow of the game. Especially with Barkley out I think this is one where we just need to hold our noses, hope to bang in another goal or two, and get the fuck out of here as quick as possible.
  3. A "stuck with Moyes" chant. Everton fans
  4. Newcastle need all the publicity they can get. If that means Messi walking onto their pitch in an Everton shirt then they'll take it.
  5. They're going to bring him out on the field prior to the match, Just like McGaedy. Then it's going to become a weekly tradition, with a new player of bigger stature coming out as a new signee prior to every game until the final match of the season, when Messi sprints to midfield in an Everton shirt.
  6. The writer and editor do not know the difference between "who" and "whom" and I'm supposed to take them seriously as a legitimate news source? Fuck off.
  7. So then Kenwright? I guess that's possible. Still, they seem to have a good relationship, and I think that would be a poor move for Kenwright to lie to his manager about what funds are available. Kenwright has his share of questions to answer but he's not exactly Vincent Tan. I trust that Martinez has been informed accurately of the financial situation.
  8. I understand the concern, but Roberto's proven to be a man of his word so far. He promised Baines and Barkley staying and that's happened. And when questions came up about Fellaini and Jelavic he was honest and admitted he couldn't guarantee their future with Everton. The summer window is far for conducive to deals for a whole number of reasons, and so I believe Roberto and I also believe it's the right decision.
  9. Ha oh really? I knew the Lukaku one though I thought we stole him from West Brom more than anything. Had no idea of the other two.
  10. West Ham must want us to just go away. First the Heitinga snub, now this (if in fact true).
  11. Who is Big Sam? A Traore-Lukaku pairing would be the stuff of nightmares. I mean, not Rooney-RVP good, but a pain in the ass to deal with. So much height and skill. Would really add another dimension to our attack.
  12. Probably combination of both. He's played in Russia, which is a good league but he's hardly facing Bayern Munich on a weekly basis. He has a good track record in CL/Europa and for Ivory Coast as well. So he's not just a product of playing in shit leagues. EPL is a big step up for sure but not one that I think would stun him.
  13. He's a fucking tank. I'm not going to say he's exactly like Lukaku but they're similar at a very basic level in that they both have a massive frame but a good deal of skill as well. On paper he's a better player than Jelavic. Of course, how that actually translates to the field is a whole different thing. My only qualm with this is that it's yet another loan. He's a hell of a player, and if this is true I'm happy to have him, even if only temporarily.
  14. Maybe we'll get a decent sum for him after all. Nothing great, by any means, but supply and demand is everything. If a handful of teams are bidding for him then we have some leverage.
  15. He's been totally irrelevant, and I mean that in the best way possible. The CB role basically consists of, "don't fuck up." Anything else is a bonus. It's a very difficult position and especially for a teenager, but he hasn't fucked up. Thankful for Moyes giving us one more stupidly cheap buy.
  16. Pure speculation on my part, but Barry doesn't seem like the kind of guy who's going to hold out for every possible penny and move all over the world just to get it. I'm sure he and Roberto will figure out a reasonable wage that's fair for both sides.
  17. Pure class. Wish him the best of luck... except against us
  18. I think we're in a healthy spot. Let's remember that we sold Fellaini to bring in cheaper options and pocketed 10+ million in the process. I also imagine that we're factoring in revenue that Baines gets. Arteta's a great player but I can't imagine he's much of a pull in Spain. Baines, though, is the starting LB for England. I imagine his presence does a lot for advertising, jersey sales, etc. I trust Martinez to make the right decisions here.
  19. Let's not get dramatic here. Giving Baines a pay raise is not even close to reaching the levels of a Leeds or Portsmouth. You really think a stingy guy like Kenwright is suddenly going to lose his mind here?
  20. The way I see it is, no guts, no glory. There's no safe, risk-free method of getting into the CL. We'll have to take some gambles. I think Baines is a good gamble.
  21. Sort of. He was supposed to join Stoke at the end of the MLS season but was denied his work permit. Seems that he and Stoke, after taking some time to think things through, decided to sign the contract anyway. Details are incredible scarce but he's set to go out on loan... somewhere. Not sure if it's because he doesn't have a work permit yet. Not sure if he has one and they're just loaning him because he's not ready for the EPL; which is probably correct. In any case, I'm excited to see what transpires because he's spent the last couple seasons on two absolutely awful MLS teams. He'll finally get the tutoring he needs.
  22. Well that's one way to look at it. I look at it as... Osman now has full time duty for the next month+, which in itself is probably not the best thing. But even worse is that we have basically nobody capable of stepping in as a sub or injury fill-in. I guess we could move Pienaar into the middle and put Oviedo on the left. This might force Martinez' hand in keeping Heitinga.
  23. 1. Kenwyne Jones is looking to leave Stoke. 2. Everton just sold Jelavic and need a backup striker. 3. Therefore, Jones to Everton! I'm 92% sure this is how the article came to fruition. Just some writer trying to play connect the dots. This move makes zero sense. Why would Roberto purposely downgrade at striker?
