Devil's advocate here, just reporting what the stats said....not really commenting on the veracity of it. Agree that on the face of it the "faster with the ball than without" sounds ludicrous....the only explanation I'd have thought possible would be that he's faster chasing the ball (makes sense...a greyhound runs faster chasing the hare than when not) than when running into space. That doesn't fit with having the "ball under control" though obviously. Shouldn't have said "the facts say different," just "Opta says different."
