  1. Think the headline writers have misinterpreted the quote. "Of course, that is where we all want to be, playing the big club," said Kenwright. "If David gets us into the Champions League I will be crying tears of joy. "And at the back of my head I'll be thinking money, money - millions. Why? To give it to David to spend. What he's saying (imo) is that if we make it into the Champions League we'll make lots of money and then I'll give it to Davey to spend.
  2. In the club's (ManU's) 2004-05 accounts, Rooney's contract is recorded as having a book cost of £25.066 million as at 30 June 2005, with contingent payables of £4 million, giving a maximum final fee of £29.066 million including costs. If you accept though that the sale of Rooney has been the catalyst that has led to our current position, given that we finished seventeenth in the previous season with him and given that he wanted to go I think it certainly was one of the deals of the century. One man for the complete turnaround in the club's status, putting us into Europe twice and challenging at the top of table instead of the bottom... Would any of this have happened if he'd have stayed? Dunno, but if you'd given me the option back in summer 2004 of this or an unknown future with Rooney I know what I'd have taken.
  3. Nice one. Lots of great stuff in there but it's the Sunderland game that's always stuck with me....brilliant goals, brilliant all round play. Bit like this year really except we got seven instead of four .
  4. Surely it'll be the end of Rafa if they lose to Inter now (which they're favourites to do...Inter are unbeaten in the league this season and the real power in Italy at the mo)? He took off Babel, who was far and away their best player by all accounts, and put on Kewell . Don't understand the man at all....terrible shame....tee hee ! Not forgotten Bill but that's one blip (a big one admittedly) in nearly four months of almost unbroken positivity.....compared to Liverpool stumbling from one crisis and embarrassment to another.
  5. ACCORDING to Nike, the fastest footballer in the Premier League is currently Cristiano Ronaldo, with Andrew Johnson and Fernando Torres just a dip-finish behind. Nike figures tracked Ronaldo at 20.9mph without a ball at his feet, an incredible 20.8mph with a ball; Johnson’s times were 20.6 and 20.7mph (slightly faster after he’s been volleyed into orbit by Andre Ooijer), while Torres clocked 20.5 and 20.6mph. What Nike failed to point out, however, is that their top 10 only featured footballers sponsored by . . . Nike. Hmmm...

The young ones of course! Bill's always had faith that VDM would come good in the end .
  7. Josh blinked...27,745 to beat for the Memory Man . Not a bad score under pressure .
  8. Good grief 10k!! That's not much more than a sprint . Good luck though....my brother's wife lost three babies, horribly traumatic thing to happen...good on ya!
  9. #8 - Shaun Wright-Phillips (without ball) 18.9 mph (with ball) 21.2 mph. Go figure .
  10. Devil's advocate here, just reporting what the stats said....not really commenting on the veracity of it. Agree that on the face of it the "faster with the ball than without" sounds ludicrous....the only explanation I'd have thought possible would be that he's faster chasing the ball (makes sense...a greyhound runs faster chasing the hare than when not) than when running into space. That doesn't fit with having the "ball under control" though obviously. Shouldn't have said "the facts say different," just "Opta says different."
  11. The clubs would get 13,000 each to distribute as they see fit. Season ticket holder would be a starting point....but there are more than 13,000 of them I'd have thought. See the bookies have us up to joint second favourites with Spurs (behind Bayern) after the last couple of nights results. ....and another thing... Bolton beating Atletico after Sergio Aguero sent off...never thought I'd see El Hadji Diouf actually benefit from someone spitting !
  12. You keep saying that Carl but the facts say different... "Everton striker Andrew Johnson is the second fastest player in the Premier League! Johnson is second only to Manchester United’s Portuguese attacker Cristiano Ronaldo, who is a mere 0.3mph faster than the Everton striker. These stats are based on the latest findings from Opta, who record an array of facts and statistics based on Premier League football. The likes of Aston Villa’s Gabriel Agbonlahor and Newcastle’s Michael Owen do not appear in the top ten list, with the standings calculated by recording a player’s top speed when chasing the ball and also their pace when in control of the ball. AJ has been clocked racing to the ball at 20.6mph, increasing to 20.7mph when in control of the ball. Johnson is ahead of England colleagues Ashley Young, Aaron Lennon, Jermaine Defoe, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Joe Cole in the list." I think he's struggling for confidence at the mo for sure, but he'll be back imo.
  13. No reductions for children either Bill . Never mind, gotta be done (and as been), wouldn't forgive myself if we made it and I hadn't tried. Worse case scenario is we get knocked out, get the tickets in the ballot and the final's Spurts v Notlob <_< . I suppose at least I could get the cash back on ebay .
  14. £55 a ticket....if we're in it...madness !! Are you serious? Bargain of the fucking century!! I'm in. Thought I'd have no chance of getting one.
  15. Zenit have beaten Villarreal 1-0 in the first leg in Russia. Be nice if they went out....one of the five or six favourites for the trophy. Also makes our performance look all the better.
  16. Watching this makes you wonder how the fook we've managed to get to fourth in the league. Hard work to watch, too many schoolboy errors. Shite camerawork, like Jacko said....wtf's all that about? Can only get better...thank fuck for "Jajelka" .
  17. Stronger team than expected... 24 Howard 18 Neville 04 Yobo 16 Jagielka 05 Lescott 21 Osman 17 Cahill 26 Carsley 23 Fernandes 22 Yakubu 08 Johnson Substitutes 33 Wessels, 02 Hibbert, 03 Baines, 07 Van der Meyde, 14 Vaughan, 28 Anichebe, 37 Rodwell
  18. DM... “To be honest it’s a bit of a struggle even getting a team out. “We would hope that the boys who have been through it all before in Europe are a real help to us, because we’ll need it with the injuries.” ...VDM recall anyone ? Don't think Baines or Rodwell fit that description . Only Neville & Valente. Interesting.
  19. Toothache is extremely painful but temporary. Friends will never go away . Moving on anyone seen "Never Better" BBC's....new, intelligent, black comedy featuring some of Britain's brightest comic talent including Stephen Mangan (Green Wing) as Keith and Kate Ashfield (Shaun Of The Dead) as his long-suffering wife, Anita. If you haven't, don't bother, it's almost as unfunny as Friends . Complete shite.
  20. Who'd have thought it....wish my dad had lived to see Leeds suffer, he'd have loved it. Hated Revie and his team. They looked like they were going to cruise back up after winning eleven and drawing two of their first thirteen games but they've gone W7-D5-L7 since. Nearly 30,000 there tonight though....impressive.
  21. Fair point...think I could probably live with it also.
  22. They certainly shouldn't, but it shouldn't be should'nt, it should be shouldn't . Sorry...I'm ashamed .
  23. You miss my point. It is, in a nutshell... Friends is bollocks. Not funny at all. Seinfeld is funny. Big difference. That's all .
