  1. People saying the lad needs to be given games before we pass judgement, fair enough I'd tend to agree with that. But so far any time he's come on he hasn't been able to trap, pass or look particularly comfortable doing anything with the football. He got 8 minutes on Sunday and it was an awful cameo, he walked around at a snails pace as well. You can say players need time to settle but all the evidence I've seen of him in an Everton jersey so far is that he looks a total dud. I don't pretend to have followed his career path but he seems to have moved very late in his career, why are we trying to polish a 25 year old? surely for 13.5m we should be picking up someone substantially younger and trying to bring them through, they will have alot more years to develop and grow. There's not many years for growth as a 25 year old footballer in my opinion. I hope he comes good, I really do but by god do I think we've signed an absolute dud here lads.
  2. Coleman is a key man and one of our teams top performers, if we were to sell for 20m the next best thing we could buy would probably be Sam Byram and he'd cost an arm and a leg, maybe 12m+. I don't see the point in selling Coleman for a notabe downgrade for a net 8m that would have a big knock on effect on the team. If we start selling off big performers and big names we run the risk of becomng like Southampton where every lad wants away at the first sniff of a bigger move. It's not the sale itself, it's what the knock on effect and what the sale implies that we're not ambitious that's the problem. If we're going to sell, sell players we don't need Gibson, McGeady, Kone etc.
  3. I'd like to see us make a move for a #1 goalkeeper, Maybe Ryan of Club Brugge? CB or two unless we promote Browning or Galloway to the first team on a regular basis, I still feel we need a good CB to provide adequate cover for Stones and Jagielka, I don't like seeign Dann, Evans etc. being touted for such high money 10m plus! Byram as RB cover would be a great signing, we need adequate cover for Coleman. AM, need a quality playmaker, haven't seen many concrete names but hopefully Bobby will pull something out of the bag, CF, Guidetti has been bossing the U21 championships for Sweden, on a free could be a shrewd deal for us, otherwise Bamford on loan could be usefull off the bench.
  4. We need good competition for Coleman and a player ready to step into his position if he were to leave, we haven't had adequate RB cover for quite some time so if the fee isn't too high I'd be all for it. I do think Coleman won't be sold for at least another 2 years and then possibly stay further.
  5. Any word on why Garbutt's not in the match squad?
  6. Outs: Howard has shown with his number of errors this season that he can't get a second chance and a place as our #1 keeper. Robles: Martinez's reluctance to play his own signing when Howard came back from injury is telling enough, don't think he showed enough when he was playing in Howards absence, definetely not good enough to be our #1 or even #2 for that matter. Ins: For 8m Cech would add to one of the best back lines in the league, i think with our back 4 and McCarthy and Barry/ Besic beside him that's once of the top back 7s in the league at the minute. Don't know on other good, backup keepers, maybe Ryan of Brugge or Butland of Stoke? Outs: Alcaraz, Distin, Hibbert. Contracts running out, don't renew. Ins: Micah Richards on a free fr CB and RB cover? used to be a phoenominal player, still only 26. Had a difficult few seasons but I think he should be just what we're after. Another CB cover who will develop. Outs: Gibson, gets injured far too often, injured more often than avalaible, I rate him when fit but we can't afford to have a guy on decent wages out constantly. McGeady, hasn't really shown enough, I'd show him the door. Pienaar, getting on a bit, big wages. Ins: Aaron Lennon has really surprised me, for 5m we should bring him in, my only worry is what his game will be like once his pace goes. Cleverly looks like it's a done deal, on a free can't have too many complaints. Would love for him to come in and do well. Another winger, Read articles of Pione Sisto tearing up Denmark and is still very young, we need an injection of youth who can develop, should be our new transfer model. Holtby? Could be a great AM and playmaker. Outs KONE, 6m wasted, he's 32, simply not good enough, let's hope Martinez has the bottle to pull the plug. Ins: Ings would be a great signing, I think he is a great player who can develop. Compensastion fee set by tribunal as he's leaving on a free and under 24. Thoughts?
  7. Dissapointing part of it is I dont see Martinez walking or being sacked, I don't even know if he deserves to be sacked. The fact any old fan can point out his and our teams 100 flaws and nothing changes is a telling sign of someone I don't want to manage my football club. I don't think he will be sacked or walk so and I love this club so I have no choice to support him going forward and am therefore desperate for him to succeed. I just feels he needs to evolve to get the best out of himself and his team. I also fear from some of his signings that he doesn't know what kind of player it takes to take the team forward and improve it. I'd fear our ageing players and underperforming ones are all given an extra year onto their contracts and no major signings will come in. What we need is the younger players to be brought through, the under-performers to be axed and old and injury prone players to be moved on. Buy promising players who may not be the finished article but have the potential to be. As I said I only want Everton to succeed so I desperately want Martinez to at the same time.
  8. Team's you're all picking are far too similiar to what'll be played tonight, see what the line-up is like tonight then have a go on who's starting based on how many minutes and fatigue from the KIev game. We need some fresh legs and fresh ideas, hopefully Roberto mixes it up a bit and can create some positivity COYB
  9. Howard Coleman Stones Jagielka Garbutt McCarthy Besic Lennon Barkley Mirallas Lukaku I don't think we can reinstate Robles as his confidence will be shot after being so swiftly dropped for Howard, people saying start Gibson, I think it may be too soon for him to be back starting games and we need midfield steel beside McCarthy if we're going up against N'Zonzi and Whelan. We also need two wingers for pace on the counter, Barkley definetely our best bet through the middle if he's given a licence to play more, he seems so constricted by the system.
  10. why the fuck did Martinez sign Joel in the first place for 3.5m? we're signing players that don't improve the squad. we need progression with everything we do.
  11. Also, Robles was improving game by game as his confidence grew. I don't for a minute think Robles is good enough to be our #1 long term, I think come the summer a new keeper has to brought in to take that number one spot, but he was until he was dropped performing better than Howard. Howard's mistakes have been highlighted this season and rightly so, he's cost us points, simple as. I fear even bringing Robles back in might not have a great impact, his confidence was growing and he's been dropped for Howard, who in my opinion is one of the worst starting goalkeepers in the premier league. If Robles was brought back in as #1 I doubt his confidence will be up to scratch after Martinez showing no faith in him, Robles + no confidence = fucking disaster.
  12. If the fee is only 1.8m then this has to be a no brainer, we're seriously lacking any sort of width and Knop and Mirallas on either wing would be a huge pairing for us going into the second half of the season. He was being linked with 15m moves a year or two ago!
  13. I could understand Martinez's stubborness with his tactics if we were playing any sort of half decent football and maybe unlucky with results, all I've seen this season is dog shit defending and a boring, pedestrian style of passing football. We're not incisive and cutting teams open at all like we did last season. Our defence has looked an absolute shambles with no inventiveness going forward. I don't understand why he keeps playing people out of position either, Barkley played better in the game against QPR in DM than he has done all season being stuck out LM. Why are we accomodation a far inferior player in Naismith to play in the hole when it's Barkleys best position and one where he will excell for years to come. Ijust hope Bobby shifting him out to the wing won't be a catalyst for him leaving if a big club comes knocking. Eto'o constantly not being preffered in his CF position, too. Lukaku has been unfit and awful all season, why not play Eto'o there instead of trying to play Lukaku into form at the detriment of the whole team. I DO think Bobby is the man to take us forward and the best available candidate to do so he just needs to get a better look at the team, play to our strengths, move on the deadwood ASAP and start playing good football and then in turn get good results, GOODNIGHT
  14. Sell Coleman for 20m? have you lads lost you're minds? The last thing we should be doing is selling off our top performers and best players like Coleman and McCarthy, we're already desperately lacking in quality as it is. Why would you look to sell off our best players in the hop of signing players for elsewhere in the team? What we need to have a look at doing is moving on those who we know not to be good enough, Robles, Hibbert, Alcaraz, Distin, Gibson, Kone, McGeady, Pienaar, Kone can all leave when the transfer window opens as far as I'm concerned, to a lesser extent Barry and Naismith. They're not near where we want to be at, I'd rather play our extremely gifted crop of kids who can't get a look in than these shower of crooks at the minute. Bloated wages for perennial underperformers and constantly injured players is just not how a cash strapped club like us can work. Selling off these guys if anyone would have them and free up the wages would bring in the same amount of cash as your idiotic suggestions of selling Coleman and much more beneficial for the team in my opinion. these guys are blocking our young players progression and potentially bringing in other gifted youngsters is what's happening at the minute.
