  1. People saying the lad needs to be given games before we pass judgement, fair enough I'd tend to agree with that. But so far any time he's come on he hasn't been able to trap, pass or look particularly comfortable doing anything with the football. He got 8 minutes on Sunday and it was an awful cameo, he walked around at a snails pace as well. You can say players need time to settle but all the evidence I've seen of him in an Everton jersey so far is that he looks a total dud. I don't pretend to have followed his career path but he seems to have moved very late in his career, why are we trying to polish a 25 year old? surely for 13.5m we should be picking up someone substantially younger and trying to bring them through, they will have alot more years to develop and grow. There's not many years for growth as a 25 year old footballer in my opinion. I hope he comes good, I really do but by god do I think we've signed an absolute dud here lads.
  2. Coleman is a key man and one of our teams top performers, if we were to sell for 20m the next best thing we could buy would probably be Sam Byram and he'd cost an arm and a leg, maybe 12m+. I don't see the point in selling Coleman for a notabe downgrade for a net 8m that would have a big knock on effect on the team. If we start selling off big performers and big names we run the risk of becomng like Southampton where every lad wants away at the first sniff of a bigger move. It's not the sale itself, it's what the knock on effect and what the sale implies that we're not ambitious that's the problem. If we're going to sell, sell players we don't need Gibson, McGeady, Kone etc.
  3. I'd like to see us make a move for a #1 goalkeeper, Maybe Ryan of Club Brugge? CB or two unless we promote Browning or Galloway to the first team on a regular basis, I still feel we need a good CB to provide adequate cover for Stones and Jagielka, I don't like seeign Dann, Evans etc. being touted for such high money 10m plus! Byram as RB cover would be a great signing, we need adequate cover for Coleman. AM, need a quality playmaker, haven't seen many concrete names but hopefully Bobby will pull something out of the bag, CF, Guidetti has been bossing the U21 championships for Sweden, on a free could be a shrewd deal for us, otherwise Bamford on loan could be usefull off the bench.
  4. We need good competition for Coleman and a player ready to step into his position if he were to leave, we haven't had adequate RB cover for quite some time so if the fee isn't too high I'd be all for it. I do think Coleman won't be sold for at least another 2 years and then possibly stay further.
  5. Any word on why Garbutt's not in the match squad?
  6. Outs: Howard has shown with his number of errors this season that he can't get a second chance and a place as our #1 keeper. Robles: Martinez's reluctance to play his own signing when Howard came back from injury is telling enough, don't think he showed enough when he was playing in Howards absence, definetely not good enough to be our #1 or even #2 for that matter. Ins: For 8m Cech would add to one of the best back lines in the league, i think with our back 4 and McCarthy and Barry/ Besic beside him that's once of the top back 7s in the league at the minute. Don't know on other good, backup keepers, maybe Ryan of Brugge or Butland of Stoke? Outs: Alcaraz, Distin, Hibbert. Contracts running out, don't renew. Ins: Micah Richards on a free fr CB and RB cover? used to be a phoenominal player, still only 26. Had a difficult few seasons but I think he should be just what we're after. Another CB cover who will develop. Outs: Gibson, gets injured far too often, injured more often than avalaible, I rate him when fit but we can't afford to have a guy on decent wages out constantly. McGeady, hasn't really shown enough, I'd show him the door. Pienaar, getting on a bit, big wages. Ins: Aaron Lennon has really surprised me, for 5m we should bring him in, my only worry is what his game will be like once his pace goes. Cleverly looks like it's a done deal, on a free can't have too many complaints. Would love for him to come in and do well. Another winger, Read articles of Pione Sisto tearing up Denmark and is still very young, we need an injection of youth who can develop, should be our new transfer model. Holtby? Could be a great AM and playmaker. Outs KONE, 6m wasted, he's 32, simply not good enough, let's hope Martinez has the bottle to pull the plug. Ins: Ings would be a great signing, I think he is a great player who can develop. Compensastion fee set by tribunal as he's leaving on a free and under 24. Thoughts?
  7. Dissapointing part of it is I dont see Martinez walking or being sacked, I don't even know if he deserves to be sacked. The fact any old fan can point out his and our teams 100 flaws and nothing changes is a telling sign of someone I don't want to manage my football club. I don't think he will be sacked or walk so and I love this club so I have no choice to support him going forward and am therefore desperate for him to succeed. I just feels he needs to evolve to get the best out of himself and his team. I also fear from some of his signings that he doesn't know what kind of player it takes to take the team forward and improve it. I'd fear our ageing players and underperforming ones are all given an extra year onto their contracts and no major signings will come in. What we need is the younger players to be brought through, the under-performers to be axed and old and injury prone players to be moved on. Buy promising players who may not be the finished article but have the potential to be. As I said I only want Everton to succeed so I desperately want Martinez to at the same time.
  8. Team's you're all picking are far too similiar to what'll be played tonight, see what the line-up is like tonight then have a go on who's starting based on how many minutes and fatigue from the KIev game. We need some fresh legs and fresh ideas, hopefully Roberto mixes it up a bit and can create some positivity COYB
  9. Howard Coleman Stones Jagielka Garbutt McCarthy Besic Lennon Barkley Mirallas Lukaku I don't think we can reinstate Robles as his confidence will be shot after being so swiftly dropped for Howard, people saying start Gibson, I think it may be too soon for him to be back starting games and we need midfield steel beside McCarthy if we're going up against N'Zonzi and Whelan. We also need two wingers for pace on the counter, Barkley definetely our best bet through the middle if he's given a licence to play more, he seems so constricted by the system.
  10. why the fuck did Martinez sign Joel in the first place for 3.5m? we're signing players that don't improve the squad. we need progression with everything we do.
  11. Also, Robles was improving game by game as his confidence grew. I don't for a minute think Robles is good enough to be our #1 long term, I think come the summer a new keeper has to brought in to take that number one spot, but he was until he was dropped performing better than Howard. Howard's mistakes have been highlighted this season and rightly so, he's cost us points, simple as. I fear even bringing Robles back in might not have a great impact, his confidence was growing and he's been dropped for Howard, who in my opinion is one of the worst starting goalkeepers in the premier league. If Robles was brought back in as #1 I doubt his confidence will be up to scratch after Martinez showing no faith in him, Robles + no confidence = fucking disaster.
  12. If the fee is only 1.8m then this has to be a no brainer, we're seriously lacking any sort of width and Knop and Mirallas on either wing would be a huge pairing for us going into the second half of the season. He was being linked with 15m moves a year or two ago!
  13. I could understand Martinez's stubborness with his tactics if we were playing any sort of half decent football and maybe unlucky with results, all I've seen this season is dog shit defending and a boring, pedestrian style of passing football. We're not incisive and cutting teams open at all like we did last season. Our defence has looked an absolute shambles with no inventiveness going forward. I don't understand why he keeps playing people out of position either, Barkley played better in the game against QPR in DM than he has done all season being stuck out LM. Why are we accomodation a far inferior player in Naismith to play in the hole when it's Barkleys best position and one where he will excell for years to come. Ijust hope Bobby shifting him out to the wing won't be a catalyst for him leaving if a big club comes knocking. Eto'o constantly not being preffered in his CF position, too. Lukaku has been unfit and awful all season, why not play Eto'o there instead of trying to play Lukaku into form at the detriment of the whole team. I DO think Bobby is the man to take us forward and the best available candidate to do so he just needs to get a better look at the team, play to our strengths, move on the deadwood ASAP and start playing good football and then in turn get good results, GOODNIGHT
  14. Sell Coleman for 20m? have you lads lost you're minds? The last thing we should be doing is selling off our top performers and best players like Coleman and McCarthy, we're already desperately lacking in quality as it is. Why would you look to sell off our best players in the hop of signing players for elsewhere in the team? What we need to have a look at doing is moving on those who we know not to be good enough, Robles, Hibbert, Alcaraz, Distin, Gibson, Kone, McGeady, Pienaar, Kone can all leave when the transfer window opens as far as I'm concerned, to a lesser extent Barry and Naismith. They're not near where we want to be at, I'd rather play our extremely gifted crop of kids who can't get a look in than these shower of crooks at the minute. Bloated wages for perennial underperformers and constantly injured players is just not how a cash strapped club like us can work. Selling off these guys if anyone would have them and free up the wages would bring in the same amount of cash as your idiotic suggestions of selling Coleman and much more beneficial for the team in my opinion. these guys are blocking our young players progression and potentially bringing in other gifted youngsters is what's happening at the minute.
  15. Think Jack Butland could be a good signing if it could be done relatively cheaply, not going to dislodge Begovic any time soon but could blossom with us given game time. I still think Martinez will persist with Howard though, to his detriment, Martinez has far too much faith in some players who just aren't performing at the level we need to be at.
  16. My main criticism of the Kone signing was the 6m price we paid for him, the guys 30 years old and will have absolutely no sell on value. he's had a few decent seasons across Europe but has done nothing to justify a 6m price tag. he cost Wigan 2.5m the seasn we signed him also. Him getting injured was unfortnate but he's just after gettign a very serious knee injury, who knows what sort of a player we'll be getting back if he gets fit. 6m a ridiculous price for him, lazy signing from martinez, very much the same way as the alcaraz and robles signings haven't done anything to bolster our squad. with 6m we should have invested in an up and coming striker who we can develop. 6m is alot of money, can't see kone developing any more atfer reaching his age and after his knee injury.
  17. Of those two squads it's apparent we have any great quality in depth, Robles, Hibbert, Alcaraz are very poor back-up to our first team, we need real quality challenging for positions and make our squad stronger. To an extent I would prefer better qualit yoptions to Naismith and Kone, I really don't think either are up to going into this season as competition to Lukaku. Gibson has had a bad spell with injuries since he's came to the club I really hope he can return to full fitness this season and push the starter's on. In my opinion there is a big difference in having bodies such as those I've listed and squad players very capable of coming in throughout the season to help us get 4th place. Also, Distin, Osman, Pienaar are a season or two away from realistically not being able to play each week, we should be looking to bring through the younger players or else try snap up some promising talent. I know I'd prefer home grown talent such as Duffy, Browning, Ledson, Kennedy, McAleny coming in and getting games than Alcaraz, Hibbert and Kone.. I really don't think they're up to getting us 4th. So basically, we need higher grade replacements than what we don't have I don't think the squad is strong enough to get 4th this season, and it would be a massive oppertunity missed. We should be looking at younger hungry players who we can find and buy for relatively cheap who will improve rather than shelling out 6m on Kone and playing Alcaraz.Wrong transfer strategy.
  18. Reading that Darlow and Lascelles are heading to Newcastle for £5m joint bid and loaned back to Forest for the season, in my opinion we should be all over this. Decent price for top young english talent.
  19. After the Lukaku money how much do we realistically think is available? I'd like to see us strenghten up CB, with a return for Dier. Possibly adding Holtby on loan or a knock down fee if he's available for it. Another winger or two and a CF. I'd also take Rodwell back on loan in a heartbeat.
  20. Where are you guys going that Cleverley will be a good signing for us? For a reported fee of 8m? The guy is the laughing stock of the premier league, and rightly so. he's proved time and time again that he's not good enough. bar three reasonably succesfull loan spells the last of which ended THREE YEARS AGO. He's not going to develop into a decent premiership midfielder. the fact people on here are even entertaining the idea of him is baffling to me.
  21. few guys we could or should go for im my oppinion Butland, quality young english keeper to compete with howard for number 1 spot, from what i've seen of Robles he's just not good enough to be a #1. Micah Richards, CB, and RB cover, again english and 25 years of age would have alot to offer. Barry, goes without saying, tie him down to a year or two because he's earned that contract. Rodwell, would love to see him back, player with huge potential and still at a young age to live up to it. don't think any fan can give up on him. Deulefeau again on loan? another younger playmaker to replace osman and pienaar. Batshuaiy, release clause of 6.7, if we can't get lukaku go for this guy.
  22. with barry, lukaku, deulofeu all on loan how many more loanees are we allowed in a premier league squad? i may be wrong but thought there was a cap or something? also if we have no money to spend in january that is a farce, 33.5 million in total for fellaini and anichebe and we brought in robles £3m mccarthy £13m kone £6m for transfer fees and maybe loan fees for lukaku and barry and deulofeu but can't imagien them being huge, where has the £15m gone left over from those player sales plus we were always told we had money to spend in the summer so budget some in for that? now we're talking about more loan signings? unbelievable..
  23. With Gibson, Kone out for the season and Deulofeu out for maybe a few months we need to look at bringing a few in. we're in a great position at the mintute one thing that stands against us for the rest of the season is that we don't have a squad capable of pushing for the whole season for top 4. there has been very little rotation this season and with injuries building up i think its imparitive we do some strengthening in january to keep the momentum going. don't think we're ever going to see the top 6 or so say as week as they are this season for a very long time. i'd clear out jelavic, heitinga, naismith, hibbert in january, free up some funds and wages to bring other guys in. the first two listed there are big earners for being peripheral bench warmers. guys i'd like to bring in, need a cb, dm, winger, striker and maybe a few younger talents who we can blend into the squad or loan back to their clubs for the rest of the season., most notably robertson, gauld, souttar, will hughes and any other guys martinez has his eye on. mmcgeady is being linked he is a free contract in the summer could come cheap but i'd like to see someone with more quality and better potential. decent striker option could be shane long, his contract is up in the summer also so could be cheap, but again, maybe someone with higher quality would be prefferable but i'd definetely rather him than jelavic at present. open to suggestions on the others but that's where i feel the squad needs to clear out and strengthen in order to push for top 4 or even higher thsi season, simply sitting back and thinking what we have now for the rest of the season will not be good enough.
  24. In fairness, that was a pre-season friendly after being back training for a week. Alot of players made mistakes today it's normal when your not match fit. He played up front mostly for Olympiakos, i just suggested it was an option instead of bringing Kone in. I was simply pointing out we are a club with alot more history than Wigan, therefore shouldn't be behaving like them. It saddened me more than anything to see fans wet themselves to see a "Wonderkid" from Barca sign on a one year loan deal. I hope the guy comes in and does a great job but we would be much better off nurturing what talent we have instead of nurturing someone elses. Yes, we could not afford this type of player, so that is why i mentioned we need to be bringing in young guys for fees we can afford, i realise this is easier said than done but Martinez has done this before in the past? Why not continue doing this at Everton, he signed, McCarthy, Diame, Moses, McMannaman for very little money and they excelled and performed brilliantly and would all now be regarded as good premier league players. If he's bought promising players for little money in the past surely with a club with a reputation like Everton could attract these young players with development potential who maybe would have rejected a move to Wigan? No matter what way you look at it these guys are at an age where they're not going to improve massively, or are an improvement on what is already in the squad. Absolutely no point in bringing in guys to add to the depth of a squad if they are worse than you already have there? That's just making your squad worse, doesn't mean it adds competition. Also it affects our younger players development if these guys get a run in the team ahead of them.
