  1. Sunderland vs Leeds reminds me of a famous moment in history - when Bob Stokoe's second division team beat the first division leaders in the final.
  2. Can't agree with you on that. Danny Murphy's comment quoted at the BBC website: "It's ridiculous. He failed at Chelsea, he failed at Tottenham, so why would you take him at Liverpool?" Frankly, I don't think he has the right mentality to make it at a Premier League club.
  3. Rumours that Villas-Boas may take over from Brenda. :jump for joy:
  4. For us, this really is a year of transition. For Arsenal and Liverpool, for example, they are really struggling after supposedly being through years of transition. We're in a lot better shape than they are - despite what the table many currently imply. Welcome, by the way.
  5. Robles Hibbert Alcaraz Browning Garbutt Ledson Osman Atsu McAleny Oviedo Eto'o
  6. There's little point in starting only the youngsters; we'd learn little more than watching a U-21 game. It must be a combination of starters and bench players to see how the blend.
  7. Seven people managed to scrape 3 points from this game and come out top: Congratulations to Btay, c1982, Deacs, Droobie, mogsy, Paddock, and Romey. For the month, Romey has taken sole possession of the lead. For the season, the TT Forum Average remains on top. As for predictions per game, MikeO remains on top, but Droobie is making a charge.
  8. Barry desperately needs rest, coming back too soon after injury - but who is there? With McCarthy and Gibson injured, who else is there? It's all very well to complain, but it's in midfield that we're strapped right now. Barry is trying to do what he's asked to do, but only because we have no other options.
  9. Simple rule in life: Follow the money.
  10. Not in a million years was that a penalty. Shoulder barges like that happen all the time. No one thought it was a penalty until the referee blew his whistle. Just ridiculous.
  11. If we're talking conspiracy, my take is that obvious match-fixing through the referees will not end until we ban betting companies from sponsoring the league and the teams. Every single one of the Premier League teams is sponsored by a betting company, and that is such a terrible conflict of interest. There's a reason why companies invest in anything, folks. So rigged.
  12. 3-5-2 is my thought as well.
  13. Here are the results from the midweek game against Hull. Congratulations to Elston Gunnn, Matt, and Romey for each scoring 4 points. Since this was the first game of the month, they also lead the monthly table. For the season, the forum average now leads - ahead of MikeO. As for points per prediction, MikeO retains the lead.
  14. We're giving Hull some respect. With Man City away at the weekend, I thought we might leave out one or two of the regular starters.
  15. At least my excuse for a joke didn't fly over everyone's head!
  16. http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/roberto-martinez-plays-down-talk-of-arsenal-swoop-for-james-mccarthy-as-everton-are-linked-with-chelseas-mohamed-salah-9898444.html
  17. Only? That's almost twice as much as me, for crying out loud.
  18. Congratulations to Matt for predicting the correct score and winning this week's contest. For the month of November, there are joint winners: Deacs and TonkaRoost. For the season, MikeO retains a 3-point lead. MikeO has an even healthier lead for average points per prediction. Sorry for the delay in getting these results out. This was Thanksgiving weekend in the US, which is the biggest holiday of the year. Don't forget to make your Hull prediction. It's a midweek game, so you have just two days left to make it in time.
  19. You need to see the glass as half full, not half empty. We're seeded, and we're going to play an unseeded team. That's much better than playing a seeded team. To win the whole thing, we're going to have to play strong sides eventually, so there's no point fretting about it right now.
  20. No, I don't think they will come in for Coleman, Jagielka, and Baines; they'll join them. We need a core of solid defenders with the increasing number of games being played, and I can see Garbutt, Browning, and Galloway joining that core - gradually displacing Distin, Hibbert, and Alcaraz. These youngsters should get to play more and more during the transition. I really hope some of these younger players get to start against Krasnodar.
