  1. Many thanks for taking the time and trouble to do that! Now you've explained F1, I realize that I'd heard the name Hamilton but just didn't know his first name. Since you mentioned 'guide' for Kelly Gallagher, I did a search. What a competitor to win a gold medal while visually impaired.
  2. Other than Gareth Bale, I have no idea who any of those nominees are. What sports do they represent?
  3. Just glanced at the BBC website and saw the Liverpool lineup for their Champions League game. I really don't understand Brendan Rodgers' thinking at all. Why include Gerrard just three days after the Palace game when he's already out of form, and why leave all of Coutinho, Can, and Lallana on the bench? It makes no sense, especially when he must be struggling to keep his job. My only hope is that, if they drop to the Europa, we play them while Rodgers is still there.
  4. Thanks for posting this video. With all the criticism he's faced for being injured, it's nice to remember that Kone really is a good goalscorer.
  5. IMO, articles like that are little more than an agent doing his job by "leaking" news to the press. He's setting a price expectation that may or may not be at all close to reality.
  6. I agree with you completely on this. Hibbert and Distin both played yesterday, and I don't see them playing again so soon.
  7. Win at home, draw away. That's the record so far, so I expect it to continue. Also, since Hibbert played yesterday, I do see Garbutt playing this time around. Distin also struggled a bit, I thought, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Browning in there too.
  8. Their fans appear to be entering meltdown mode, with increasing calls for Rodgers' resignation.
  9. I'm sorry? Someone mentioned that we have to use some round pegs in square holes while so many players are injured, and I simply commented that it's even more tricky than that because of having the extra load of Europa League game. What in that justified your rant about Everton FC being founded in 1878? You may be smart and know a lot about the team, but you sure as heck get fixated on people and ideas. Why can't you simply take comments the way they are intended instead of always trying to find a hidden agenda or pushing your own?
  10. Even while balancing Europa League games.
  11. After seeing just one 10-pointer all season, three of us (and the forum average) managed a 10-pointer today: predicting a 2-1 result with Lukaku as first scorer. Congratulations to Deacs and TonkaRoost! For the month, Deacs has taken the lead. For the season, MikeO has dropped to second behind the forum average (the Wisdom of Crowds has kicked in). MikeO does, however, retain the lead for most points per prediction. Should I point out that Matt is dead last? Naah!
  12. It was his goal. How could Osman miss with a pass like that?
  13. Time to take off Mirallas. He's a real liability in this game. Bring on Eto'o.
  14. But can someone please explain to him the offside rule? You can look sharp and do wonderful things, but it's a waste if you keep getting caught offside.
  15. If you're joking, that is just sick. If you're not, it's obscene. Do you actually know how many tens of millions were slaughtered by these regimes in the previous century?
  16. But wishing for communism is like wishing for a return of the nazis - except that the communists have a track record of killing even more people.
  17. History has shown communism to be a complete and utter failure, causing by far the greatest number of deaths through oppression than anything that's ever existed. Why would anyone ever want to resurrect such an abject failure of a system?
  18. I grew up in the era of Jimmy Hill on MOTD and Brian Moore on The Big Match. Other than the fact that MOTD was better for being on Saturday and not Sunday, there wasn't much between them.
  19. Is this the metric used to gauge fan satisfaction at the ground?
  20. More to the point, Mark, is that Dave Whelan basically stated that he sees little wrong in MacKay's comments about Jews and 'Chinks.' Having read the reports, it looks to me that Whelan simply opened his mouth before putting his brain in gear. He's hardly the most political correct or subtle individual in the world. Yes, the media are going overboard, but Whelan did rather ask for it. It might have been wiser to steer clear of MacKay until the FA has handed down whatever punishment it decides upon.
