And they take the lead.

Right now, Basel are taking the game to Liverpool.

I can understand this thread. There have been an increasing number of snide comments made of late.
It reminds me of when I stayed at my cousin's house in Cornwall - one of our trips back from the US. The then-mayor lived next door. When he heard my children's accent, he huffed and puffed about "bloody Americans" and why he didn't want any visiting his town. Cornwall relies on the tourist trade, and that idiot was doing his best to wreck it! (I took great pleasure in pointing out that I was much more Cornish than he was!) Similarly, Everton is attracting more American followers, especially because of Tim Howard, and that's a good thing. Teams with a large US following can expect to snag some excellent marketing contracts. When such fans join this forum, it's simply stupid to treat them as idiots.
Sorry for the blunt comment, but it needs to be said.

The second one was impossible.
Especially in the context of the game. It was unbelievable. I couldn't stand Leeds at the time.

Was a belter that one, thoroughly enjoyed it; Jimmy Montgomery in goal for Sunderland was astonishing.
Personally, I think it's the best save ever.
PS - you beat me to it.

I'm a fan of villas boas and wouldn't like this. He plays a high line and press, our kryptonite. Also he did well at Spurs.
Can't agree with you on that. Danny Murphy's comment quoted at the BBC website: "It's ridiculous. He failed at Chelsea, he failed at Tottenham, so why would you take him at Liverpool?" Frankly, I don't think he has the right mentality to make it at a Premier League club.

Rumours that Villas-Boas may take over from Brenda. :jump for joy:

Heh, yeah, I know. Just kidding around. Tough crowd.
Realistically, I could envision Everton bobbing around middle earth all the way through this campaign. But I hold out hope for a win each weekend, which is probably better than more a few teams in the PL can say.
In American Football, we call it a "rebuilding year." Euphemism for "We're too old and tired (or young and inexperienced) to play effectively. But don't cash in your season tickets, because next year will be different, I'm sure of it!"
For us, this really is a year of transition. For Arsenal and Liverpool, for example, they are really struggling after supposedly being through years of transition. We're in a lot better shape than they are - despite what the table many currently imply.
Welcome, by the way.

There's little point in starting only the youngsters; we'd learn little more than watching a U-21 game. It must be a combination of starters and bench players to see how the blend.

Can we please come up with a different term for "someone who is always very nice to people in authority because he or she wants to be liked by them"
"Arse-licker" just conjures up horrible images in my head in an all male (and non-gay.....mostly) environment .
Brown-noser?

Seven people managed to scrape 3 points from this game and come out top: Congratulations to Btay, c1982, Deacs, Droobie, mogsy, Paddock, and Romey. For the month, Romey has taken sole possession of the lead. For the season, the TT Forum Average remains on top. As for predictions per game, MikeO remains on top, but Droobie is making a charge.

Barry signing is a bit of a mare, he was great last year but there must have been better stop gap out there for this season.
Barry desperately needs rest, coming back too soon after injury - but who is there? With McCarthy and Gibson injured, who else is there? It's all very well to complain, but it's in midfield that we're strapped right now. Barry is trying to do what he's asked to do, but only because we have no other options.

What makes you think that it's fixed? Just interested.
Simple rule in life: Follow the money.

Not in a million years was that a penalty. Shoulder barges like that happen all the time. No one thought it was a penalty until the referee blew his whistle. Just ridiculous.
-
If we're talking conspiracy, my take is that obvious match-fixing through the referees will not end until we ban betting companies from sponsoring the league and the teams. Every single one of the Premier League teams is sponsored by a betting company, and that is such a terrible conflict of interest. There's a reason why companies invest in anything, folks. So rigged.

yes other thought is 3-5-2. doubt that's it though. come on hibbo, victory lap year!
3-5-2 is my thought as well.

Here are the results from the midweek game against Hull. Congratulations to Elston Gunnn, Matt, and Romey for each scoring 4 points. Since this was the first game of the month, they also lead the monthly table. For the season, the forum average now leads - ahead of MikeO. As for points per prediction, MikeO retains the lead.
-
We're giving Hull some respect. With Man City away at the weekend, I thought we might leave out one or two of the regular starters.

Half-time, and Basel should be 2 or 3 up. Only one team has shown up at Anfield.
Gerrard is so poor. He wears this constant look of constipation and can't seem to pass the ball either.
