  1. Not sure how to capture and post a link, however if you type 'search.twitter.com' and search for 'Hibbert', you'll find a great picture of the team on a plane - presumably after the Wolfsburg game.

  2. I agree with your about Besic, and he could become very important. Our recent strategy of building a cadre of younger players is already paying off. McCarthy, Barkley, and Besic might soon become the core in midfield. In the next 12 months or so, I can see Stones, Garbutt, Browning, and Galloway coming to the fore in defence. Then there are Henen and McAleny to join Lukaku up front. Add to this a couple of astute signings, and what potential for the future!

  3. We're getting better and better and with the Prem so open this season there's no reason why we can't make a fight for fourth.

At the BBC website, Mark Lawrenson is suggesting that we have an excellent shot at fourth.

  4. Remember we were without Naismith, Coleman, Baines, Stones, Barry, Pienaar, Oviedo, Gibson and Alcaraz tonight and we still won 2-0 to the 2nd team in Bundesliga.

Remember we were without Naismith, Coleman, Baines, Stones, Barry, Pienaar, Oviedo, Gibson and Alcaraz and, for much of the game, McCarthy tonight and we still won 2-0, away from home, to the 2nd team in the Bindesliga.

  5.

Rory McIlroy (golf), Gareth Bale, Max Whitlock (gymnastics), Lewis Hamilton (F1), Adam Peaty (swimming), Lizzy Yarnold (skeleton, google it), Carl Froch (boxing), Charlotte Dujardin (equestrian), Jo Pavey (athletics), Kelly Gallagher (and guide Charlotte Evans) (skiing).

Many thanks for taking the time and trouble to do that! Now you've explained F1, I realize that I'd heard the name Hamilton but just didn't know his first name. Since you mentioned 'guide' for Kelly Gallagher, I did a search. What a competitor to win a gold medal while visually impaired.

  6. Just glanced at the BBC website and saw the Liverpool lineup for their Champions League game. I really don't understand Brendan Rodgers' thinking at all. Why include Gerrard just three days after the Palace game when he's already out of form, and why leave all of Coutinho, Can, and Lallana on the bench? It makes no sense, especially when he must be struggling to keep his job. My only hope is that, if they drop to the Europa, we play them while Rodgers is still there.

  7. He was very much a fox in the box for Wigan, and PSV looking through youtube:

In fact, looking back at his goals, he is very similar to Rom in terms of ability to finish and being in the right place at the right time. We need to play more of these defence splitting passes!

Thanks for posting this video. With all the criticism he's faced for being injured, it's nice to remember that Kone really is a good goalscorer.

  8. Howard

    Coleman Jags Browning Garbutt

    McCarthy Besic

    McGeady Barkley Mirallas

    Eto'o

    Subs - Osman, lukaku, atsu

I agree with you completely on this. Hibbert and Distin both played yesterday, and I don't see them playing again so soon.

  9. Come on Steve, this is a forum about Everton F.C founded 1878, not Roberto Martinez born 1973. He is a breath of fresh air, but let's not make excuses when he makes weird decisions.

He's possibly getting Barkley game time but for me he needs to be behind the striker or not at all.

I'm sorry? Someone mentioned that we have to use some round pegs in square holes while so many players are injured, and I simply commented that it's even more tricky than that because of having the extra load of Europa League game. What in that justified your rant about Everton FC being founded in 1878?

You may be smart and know a lot about the team, but you sure as heck get fixated on people and ideas. Why can't you simply take comments the way they are intended instead of always trying to find a hidden agenda or pushing your own?

  10. Agreed. It's 'make do and mend' with team selection right now and we are going to have to fit a few more square pegs into round holes for the next month or so. This is where Bobby M needs to earn his money by organising, drilling and motivating our fit players well enough to ensure that we are in striking distance of the top 4 when our injured players return.

Even while balancing Europa League games.

  11. After seeing just one 10-pointer all season, three of us (and the forum average) managed a 10-pointer today: predicting a 2-1 result with Lukaku as first scorer. Congratulations to Deacs and TonkaRoost! For the month, Deacs has taken the lead. For the season, MikeO has dropped to second behind the forum average (the Wisdom of Crowds has kicked in). MikeO does, however, retain the lead for most points per prediction. Should I point out that Matt is dead last? Naah! :)
