Why is Lukaku now playing left wing?
His ability to run down the flank is invaluable in this game. Not going to get that from ossie or ross.
-
Think you mean poor, because without doubt Chelsea are the smaller team in terms of just about every other aspect of a club.
Incredibly disrespectful comment from a Blue.
They have, but silverware and attendance wise over footballing history is miles off.
Why should a manager give a shit about our footballing history? He cant buy back Dixie Dean, he cant buy back the mid 80's. All a manager is concerned with is his ability to be successful. It's easier to be successful with a great squad, large transfer budget, large stadium, large fan support, great chairman/CEO. Difficult to say right now where Everton sit on that scale with regard to Stoke, West Ham, Leicester, Southampton

Why do 'beautiful football' and passion have to be mutually exclusive? The answer is they don't. I'm all for beautiful football but not at the expense of simply winning a mother fucking tackle. FFS I am so fucking sick of watching most of the team dick around with the other team in possession. I'm sorry but to me this is an issue with the players not the manager. I've never had a coach say dont try to dispossess the other team, dont stick a leg in to win the ball back. It's fucking bullshit and the players need to be called out for it. Oviedo thinks his leg is going to shatter if he makes a standing tackle. Stones will dive in all over the place but is completely unwilling to make a simple standing tackle. Mirallas, Deulofeu, Barkley, Rom FUCK OFF - complete joke defending. Being a 'forward' doesn't preclude you from making a tackle every now and again. You cant have a tiny portion of the team (Mori, Baines, Barry) willing to make a tackle and the other bunch not. Grow a fucking pair, win the fucking ball, and pass it away 'beautifully'.
Everyone always talks about how demanding and difficult the prem is. All that is is a measure of how badly each team wants to win. If you show up home or away and expect to win because you are more talented you will not win. Show up to the fucking park and put a fucking shift in and you will win. I dont give a flying fuck if we win 17-16, 10-9, 4-3, or 1-0. If you show up ready and willing to compete you will win more often than not, the scoreline is irrelevant.
We make this shit out to be rocket science and it isnt. Talent and team spirit equals trophies/wins. Talent and no team spirit equals mid table. No talent and team spirit equals mid table. No talent and no team spirit equals relegation. Look at the fucking table it is so fucking blatantly obvious. What do Leicester, Tottenham, West Ham have that we dont? A fucking set of nuts.
I have never taken a 'hiatus' from this team in my limited 7 years as a fan but if we dont put in a fucking shift against City i am done until the next derby. We dont need to win and we dont even need to advance. We need to show the fuck up, strap on our boots, bring out our lunch pails and outwork them. That work rate will be massively important the rest of the way even if it doesnt pay immediate dividends against City at their place.
Lastly, sell stones immediately for 40m or more. Have complete faith in jags/mori and 40m in transfer money more than any team with stones in it. And lay off Rom. He's been carrying the squad for two months, clearly exhausted.

If the two sitters work their ass off and play well I think you'll find that those two wingers could really really hurt City on the counter. They're going to come at us and I suspect we'll be penned in a lot.
Barkley, Mirallas, Rom & Deulofeu on the counter could be absolutely devastating.
It's a combination we haven't see yet. Why?
I can only assume because RM knows it wont work. Might as well call that formation 6-4. We will have no midfield to speak of whatsoever.
-
Naismith is gone. Kone is dreadful. Who should we REALISTICALLY sign to "replace" these two? Keeping in mind this could be our LM if Martinez doesn't want to use two out and out wingers.
Some names from the press/twitter: Oumar Niasse, Andre Gray, Lacina Traore, Moussa Dembele, Andriy Yarmolenko.

I dont want Lallana now that he has joined the shite but in fairness to him i dont think he should be written off yet. Liverpool has been in shambles since his arrival and he has been a bit unlucky with injuries. Could easily see him join mid table club and returning to prominence.

Dont fault him at all. Seems like yesteryear now but i was bitterly disappointed Lallana chose to play for the shite having been a boyhood evertonian. Actually respect Byram more now after this decision.

Timing seems right to point out I'm still so happy to be an Everton fan. Perhaps I'm stupid/naive/crazy but I would rather finish 8th with our club than 4th with the likes of Utd, City, Chelsea. Everton is a club full of genuinely good footballers and personalities. I would hate to have to root for Diego Costa, Yaya Toure, Memphis Depay etc. I'm still firmly entrenched in the RM camp, but there is no doubt results need to improve. Whatever happens I am so thankful this club chose me.

Deulofeu Barkley Pienaar

Subs - Mirallas Cleverley Osman for Lukaku Pienaar BesicMirallas cant start 2 games in 3 days. Think he could have a real impact against City. Same goes for Deulofeu but think he would have a greater impact against Swansea. Save Oviedo for City as well.

Still adamant Gerry and Mirallas in the same team could lead to disaster. Especially away. Especially against City.

We have the best bunch of players we have had for the last 20 years yet we sit in 11th. If Moyes had these players and had the backing of the chairman that he didn't have to sell anymore than I guarantee you he would have got more out of them.
Moyes couldn't have assembled this squad in his wildest dreams. Like RM or not, there is no debate whatsoever that Lukaku and Stones would not be here if RM wasn't the manager. McCarthy, Barry and Deulofeu as well for that matter.
-
Simple question. Maybe not so simple to answer.
Should Everton sell John Stones for 40 million or more this summer? Yes or No.
My vote is yes.
-
Guilty of saying this too often (especially because it's so difficult to prove) but I think this game is the most important game of the season since Villa. It's easy to say Chelsea is down and not performing but at the end of the day they are still Chelsea. They still have more talent in their 11 than we do in ours and its at the Bridge. Win this game and i think we will beat Swansea and advance to Cup final past City. Lose this game and i think we draw swansea and lose in the cup.
-
well done Geth but Howard, Mirallas and Naisy are all still under contract so they'll be with us, other than that pretty solid. Shows the need for another striker, Winger, AM, and GK for sure.
I would guess Geth is suggesting they be sold. Which i agree with as well.

RM continues to stock pile YOUNG talent at an amazing rate. Absolutely fantastic stuff.
-
Rom was taken off so he could start this match as well i believe. big opportunity to get some points against a team that just drew with west brom. draw or win is there for the taking.

that would be who i would like to see. i think we need lennon and mirallas to attack with speed, ivanovic is back in their lineup now and he's weak, let's attack him and terry.
My first choice set up as well. Deulofeu and Mirallas shouldnt play at same time. Deulofeu looks gassed.

what i would like to happen
sell pienaar, mcgeady, gibson, naismith
sign solid #2 striker and byram
what will happen in actuality
sell naismith
sign byram
naisy money is "lost"
lol
Completely agree, outside of lost money. The money is there for RM to spend, he has his heart set on yarmolenko. RM wont sell mcgeady or gibson (will loan instead) b/c he will argue about depth for European football next year. Not saying we will be in it, just saying that will be his thought process

Completely agree - just saying he is filling a role we dont have out there. Ossie needs replacing. Pienaar/Baines combo can provide the width and creativity to get down the flank.
