Gordon was right on Williams and could have brought him down if need be. We need a commander at the back and this moment showed again it’s not him.

Surely people are waking up to him now. Not only was the first goal a complete shit show but he doesn’t take control for the second. Godfrey has his back to runners inside and calls him across to Puki - Keane could see the whole play and needed to tell Godfrey to take puki and let Gordon deal with Williams. Instead he ends up in Keane island doing nothing and it’s an easy finish.

I have no issue with the manager being backed on this front - I’ve been calling for accountability for the players since Roberto got sacked. I do have issue though with the super negative football and shit tactics though. £25 million is a good deal for us based on recent levels of performance. As touched on above if he was that good you have to wonder why no top 4 or so teams from any leagues have snapped him up. Been a pleasure having him here but it’s also a bit refreshing to see us moving a player on whilst his value is at its peak.

Agree. It’s hard to say because don’t know how much room we have to move financially here but if we are bring in another player I would much prefer to see another energetic, dynamic midfielder to help out Doucoure and Allan.

All well and good but the likes of Gordon and Dobbin are showing they can do that role nicely. We also don’t have much in the way of cup fixtures and no Europe. Had we shifted Iwobi I could maybe understand brining in someone on loan to cover but I don’t want Gordon to lose game time and I’d rather see Dobbin develop further.

Perhaps but it was more about bringing him up to speed with the prem whilst having cover behind him. Bedding him in and I don’t think anyone can say it didn’t work.
