When the final part clicks for Gordon he will be some player. Allan though - marshalled the game.

He has serious pace. Looks very good going forward. Wouldn’t mind him being used the same way Coleman was integrated to the first team all those years ago.

I just wish we got him in earlier. Even before Carlo. We’ve had mixed results under him so far and that’s to be expected but I’m really enjoying watching us play. We have a clear idea/identity to us again. Stay up and in 2 seasons after that I genuinely believe we will be top 8.

To be fair to him he’s looked much, much better under Lampard.

It’s tough one but I think a mistake will do more damage to him than leaving him out - at least Lampard can tell him it’s because he needs him for the league and can’t risk an injury to him. Perhaps but we can’t afford injuries either as our squad is so thin. Hopefully by the next round we have some more bodies back and can rotate safely.

I’d be giving Keane the game off as any kind of mistake would be disastrous for his confidence and we are going to be relying on him for the next month at least. Priority is to keep as much of our first team fresh for the league. Begovic Patterson* Holgate Branthwaite Myko Onyango Gomes Gordon Iwobi Gray Tosun/Rondon *Kenny probably deserves a go at RB in his favoured position though. Pretty hard to pick a midfield but we need doucs & Allan fresh after their efforts on the weekend. Tosun/Rondon both offer little up front but needs must I guess.

He only had to toe it behind for a corner… Yes it goes to foden’s path but he still reacts and gets a perfect touch to round the keeper in an absolute fraction of the time Keane had to deal with it. That game summed up Micheal Keane to be honest. Capable but has that one catastrophic moment. If that was Mina or Holgate they would be torn to shreds.

Foden had zero time to react after Keane’s touch and yet he does. Keane had ages to just get anything on it. Technically very different footballers but it is a huge, huge mistake.

2 games and 2 stonewall penalties denied. Also the goal conceded is about as poor as can be. Though he was having a decent game and winning everything but the hard work of the team was undone by a simple lack of ability. I am genuinely dumbfounded that people think that Keane is of premier league quality.

Unless it makes the city centre backs think they are going up against Rondon so they go for a pint and a curry before the game…

I’ve been a big Gomes fan but he turns up for 1 in 3 games. Look where we are in the table - it’s because we have a squad riddled with these players. He comes across as a top, top bloke, I appreciate some of the moments he has given us and I wish him all the best for his career but I hope it’s elsewhere after this season.

Good headaches to have though. I can’t see Alli out on the wings and I really hope we play him through the middle with DVB and Allan/Doucoure behind. Both of latter have had poor patches this season so hopefully the competition for places ups their games. Also keeps Gomes out - I would sooner see Onyango get minutes.

Love to see it. All the teams are struggling with the car bouncing a lot along the straights from the areo - sounds like it could be quite dangerous especially on the high speed corners

Yeah I think we need to be compact but more importantly dynamic. I don’t think their backline would enjoy having Gordon, Richarlison and DCL buzzing around. Hopefully the midfield 3 can get us on the ball a bit as well because that’s where our quality is. Also our backline needs as much protection as possible so more ball the less defending. Ultimately there’s no point playing if we aren’t going to have a go and an early goal will have Goodison rocking and city may start to look over their shoulders at liverpool.

I think too many teams let city dictate the game and don’t attack nearly enough in fear of them breaking. For us I can’t see us getting anything from the game if we try for a 1-0. 433 - we’ve all been saying it for the whole season. Maybe Doucoure in for Allan for the extra mobility, I’m not sure how you fit all 4 into a midfield. Pickford Coleman Holgate Keane Kenny* Doucoure DVB Alli Gordon DCL Richarlison I don’t think Gray is back yet? Kenny or Mykolenko. I’d rather have DCL up front than Richarlison unless Gray is back because Iwobi/Townsend lack that bit of quality, unless it’s Iwobi from Leeds but you never know.

Leeds were always going to have a hard time against liverpool but I can’t really see a difference between the penatly liverpool got and the one we didn’t get against Southampton

Never heard of him but played a lot of games for his age. Again - right kind of player we should be targeting.

Good luck to him but it’s for the best we get him completely off the wage bill. Real shame as I think before injuries there was a dominant midfielder in there.

I hope so mate. Hopefully the reports that Lampards already contacted Chelsea over Gallagher are true as he is the type of player we need to be going for.

Agreed. I fully trust Lampard with this but we really need to get our recruitment right over the coming windows.

Bang on. The opening 15/20 of the Leeds and Southampton game are what I believe Frank wants from the team. There’s an improvement on that front for sure. What ever happens this season though we need to take learnings from it - we can’t keep holding places in our squad for inadequate players who turn up everyone now and then.

Is Allan rumoured to be injured? Seen quite a few predicted lineups online with Gomes and DVB in midfield. Would be a huge loss as I don’t think Gomes is anywhere industrial enough for that midfield 2.

Just shows that you can make it on talent but you stay for your mental attributes.
