  1. And we're not, we're going with 4 strikers between the youth and existing staff. People just want a marquee signing apparently for the sake of a marquee signing.

I end having this debate every year and every year I'm proven correct. People need to be patient and not forget that theres still 5 weeks of the transfer window left!!!

I don't want a marquee signing, I want a 20 goal a season striker. Swansea got Bony, Villa nabbed Benteke they can be argued as none marquee signings but scored goals. I don't care if it's a 40 million pound superstar, Lukaku, Bacca anyone as long as they're going to get us the 20 goals a team who is looking to break the top 4 needs. Every single side in the top 4 has one and if you think we could go with what we have now and say Besic, GALLOWAY AND hannen then you're very niave and you don't strike me as a niave person to be honest.

  2. Me too. Building for the future doesn't happen over 2 or 3 transfer windows unless you have billionaire backing. Building for the future takes place over 2-4 years by buying promising kids in and building a squad from the roots. All of this investment in youth isnt looking for immediate impact this season, its looking for pushing over the next 5+ years. People need to be patient, even if it is frustrating.

I'm delighted we're investing like this, I would just feel much happier us doing this if we had already signed a class first team striker.

  3. You really are a belter mate. The Belgian lad won't be first team, neither will Galloway. Besic will rotate with Barry so after all the ACTIVITY we will be signing no marquee signings over the next 3-4 days.

Don't get me wrong we need squad strengthening but if we are reliant on these three players to take us to the next level we are in for a shock.

Hey!!!! Don't be so pessimistic, these 3 or 4 signings will break another record of the most players we've ever signed in a week. That 2 will most definitely be lucky to make the bench on a match day and one will be behind Barry, Mcarthey and arguably Gibson doesn't matter it's another record broken.

  4. He wasn't going to be number 1 at Swansea either but I'm sure he could've found a club that would actually play him rather than him going for the money like he has done.

Exactly. He 's obviously had 3 choices.. Stay at Swansea and fight for his placd but grt splinters in his arse more than likely, sign for xpurs but defo get splinters in his hoop but get more money for said splinters or go somewhere and actually play but don't get paid as much. His choice speaks volumes about his character

  5. Zed, is that you?

I'm lost now but your mention of the. Union and the American Civil War did 't go unnoticed my "credit, blue or Arthur Scargil" was a shit attempt to move it away from an American theme but it 's obviously failed so whatever way you wanna run it now is good with me :/

  6. so all the good vibes coming from the players about Martinez is shite then.

Because they all seem to praise the style of play and training provided.

I don't think he meant it like that to be fair Patto. I think he's just saying the jury is still out on Martinez from where he 's sitting . Nobody can deny the air of positivity he has breathed into the club it's been a breath of fresh air and that 's why I said it's mostly with Moyes side. Love him or hate him Moyes had built a very good side but had arguably gone stale so lets see where we are once the side is predominantly Martinez.

  7. Paddock, back in the 1990's I remember ordering a Sierra Sapphire Cosworth for a guy who then had a Jensen turbocharger fitted at a cost of £5k. I advised him against it but he went ahead and did it. Six months later, he was pestering me to sell it for him as it was getting pinched by joy riders every other week.

Ha ha, in those days you could whip a top of the range car with a screwdriver!! I remember there was always valves and sierra cozzys racing round the estate and then usually dumped in the canal or just dumped on the field at the back of the estate. It was a daily occurnce. You couldn't have a fast car without some little toerag coming along with a flat head screwdriver, popping the door and barrelling it and parking in the canal when they were bored or the police were alerted!! Little bastards

  8. Ah an ald Cozzy. Those and Astra gte16valves were the dogs bollocks when I was a lad. I had an xr3i and later an xr2 but my pride and joy was a p reg (i think it was p anyway) 3.0 litre capri. Only thing wrong with that car was it was like a red/maroon colour :(

  9. His attacking play has been a breath of fresh air. It really is fearless. I'm very happy with that. On the pitch everything is ok with me.

But, I'm also not convinced (yet) how good he is at spotting a bargain (Moyes was great at this).

Also, I've said this before. He's very robotic in everything he says. Every answer is the right answer. Sort of like there's an actor sitting infront of a camera. I actually can't watch the whole of his pre match press conferences. Always the same. Very little emotion.

If he is a pretender he'll come unstuck.

What people are forgetting is he took over a very good side. With solid foundations. Once the foundations start to crack, we will see the real Martinez.

The last paragraph in that post is exactly my point. Time will tell and one things for sure , I'll be backing him a million percent.

  10. Really? Honestly for all the good he's done on the pitch he doesn't half ramble some encrypted shite at time. He's gone from 7 to 4 to 3 in the space of 2 weeks.

The Belgian lad is to go straight into the under 21's

I agree with you. I'm probably gonna rock the boat here like but I'm not 100% convinced about Martinez. He talks the talk, says right things and seems Everton through and through but sometimes his tactics leave me scratching my head as does his team selection and his permanent transfer dealings so far do not fill me with much confidence. He played last season with mostly Moyes team and 2 really good and one decent loan signings. Kone, Robles and Alcaraz are shite and imo not good enough for Everton.

That being said, we had a great season so I don't want that to sound like I 'm being too harsh on him although I'm sure it will come across as I am but I'm reserving full judgement until he's had at least another 2 windows and at the very least another 2 seasons. I have a terrible feeling he may have a case of second season syndrome this season and it just keeps nagging away at the back of my mind. I hope though that this post can be necroed in the future and shoved up my arse but time will tell.

  11. Yep , that's the ticket. Anyone who buys off a dealer wants their head testing. I used to buy and sell a lot of cars for a business I used to have so learnt hard and fast the best way to sell and buy them off my then business partner. He could sniff out a good/bad car from just looking at pictures of it in auto trader/ebay. I learnt an awful lot from him but was never in the same league no matter how hard I tried.

  12. Not exactly "fantasy" level but I'm thinking about changing my car; always fancied a convertible and I'm pleasantly surprised that you can get some fairly decent examples for £2/3,000.

I'd like an Audi TT Quattro eg

But as we'd have trouble strapping in the grandkids considering a Peugeot 307cc eg

Mid life crisis you reckon :P?

I've always said when I hit 50 (or before if I can justify it) I'm going to get a little 2 seater convertible for me and the wife and leave it garaged up and get it out on sunny sundays and whizz round the welsh hills in it. A little MG or a BMW but an older one (not a classic car just an old style and shape)

Keep the sensible car and do that ;)

  13.

Good company though Toffs. I bought this one a few years back (though it's too small for me now so my lad's stolen it). Very good quality.

They also did me a "special" on the 1966 shirt and left off the "FA Cup Winners 1966" so it could be my "Alan Ball" shirt (8 on the back).

Thats pretty cool Mike, I don 't wear colours ever, not going the game or recreationally but I'd love to get my 7 year old soom cool retro kits like that.
