Good grief. So predictable. Feel like I must have taken the wrong pill and am still in the matrix. Like the really bad one that just came out. Not the first one.
What is up with this lineup? Three 3CBs at home? or ever? Coleman on the left? I want what Rafa is smoking. Apparently he has kept his NYE party going.
Whoever we bring in I just hope we don't automatically give them big wages and long term contracts (ie 5 years). Get that that it is easier to spread things over 5 years but it is just kicking the can down the road. Feel like players and agents look at our club as a retirement community or pay day. Need to be focusing on getting players that want to play for us.
Will be interesting to see how quickly Digne returns to the matchday squad. If he is dropped for a game, maybe just a slap on the wrist. If he is dropped for a couple then you start to wonder about all the things we are currently debating.
An assist machine when we have DCL up top. Assume the plan is to play differently when DCL is out. Rondon as a straight swap isn't the answer. We all know that. Digne can swing them in all day but would Rondon capitalize? So the plan is obviously to have the midfielders contribute more in the goals department. So that's why we have Gray and Gordon on the left cutting inside. Those two and the way they play does not suit Digne and there does not seem to be any sort of partnership between them at all. So basically all Digne does now is defend (how well is up for debate) and get forward and not receive the ball. I would be a frustrated figure as well. That is probably why they have had words. Plus seems like he isn't the guaranteed set piece taker anymore with the arrival of Rafa's boy Townsend. Still though... given the players we have available... Digne just needs to get on with it. DCL will return.
