  1. The run at the end of last season was at a time when we were not playing for anything. The season had evaporated and the pressure was off. We also played the worst Man U team for some time and let’s face it, Liverpool apart, a declining top 6. It’s much more difficult to get yourself in a position to challenge the top teams then maintain it. Gana gueye also played the best few months of his Everton career with his obvious move in mind. we will be in a relegation scrap no doubt if we Keep Silva. No doubt whatsoever. Pinning our hopes on a very inconsistent and injury prone Andre Gomes and some guy called JPG who we don’t even know is any good or not is ludicrous.
  2. Hopefully he gets the boot in the morning. surely no one wants to continue to watch this drivel? If I read another “needs more time” comment...... So boring, so predictable and I’m sure we love the ball the slowest in the premier league. We are the easiest team to play against. He should be sacked for how embarrassing we are on set pieces alone. Throw into that an attacking threat which is less than what big Sam served up and you have the worst combination of all the past few managers.
  3. Could you imagine another premier league club going for Silva as manager? Can you imagine a team challenging for the top 6 even considering him? That’s how bad our manager is....has a dreadful resume in England.
  4. Finally....fans are seeing the light. Get this joker out. The football is absolutely dreadful. We haven’t got that bad a squad. A new manager can come in, shake it up and get us up the league. And it should now be illegal to play 4-2-3-1 if you are Everton manager.
  5. No. Where did I say that? Sounds like you’ve been on the piss mate.
  6. The set ups only successful mate if you have the right people in charge. Just let me know where that party is mark and I’ll be there....sounds good. Got a mate who works as the performance analyst for Everton. Has done since Moyes. Since Silva’s been in, hes not doing as much as Silva brought his own team in. Said the vibe from Silva is very quiet, shy and acts out of his depth. Only a colleagues perception but interesting. He’s seen quite a few managers!
  7. Im not sure about City but Im fairly sure Jurgen Klopp identifies Liverpool's new players. Id be shocked if Guardiola didnt have the final say also. We seem to put all player recruitment down to Brands when I'm not completely sure that's 100%. I'm just on a blaming streak right now, it's so frustrating. Are the players any good or is it just Silva not getting the best out of them? Or are these players crap and it's been bad recruitment? Anyhow, up the toffees.
  8. I’d love to know what the day to day duties were for Brands. Just don’t get the sporting director role me. If he’s there purely to scout players then he’s a scout and not a very good one at that. What’s with the importance of hiring and firing by a scout? All the successful clubs in England have been run by the manager. Not this set up. Just don’t understand this halo around Brands head. There’s even been quotes by local journalists of Silva’s desire to get ndombele before he decided on gbamin. He also wanted Gomes originally. Richarlison was obviously his too. Who exactly is identifying the players? Is Brands just negotiating? Or does he throw a few names in himself? Just weird and by the way Everton are playing right now, not successful. It’s a European model which has never worked in england
  9. Why do you think Liverpool and man city play the way they do? Moving the ball so quickly, so direct, so much pressing when the opponent gets the ball....it’s because of the manager. Them managers could go anywhere and reproduce the style. Why do we blame other factors for us watching depressing, predictable, extremely slow football??? they spend five days a week with them on the training pitch but we blame the “it’s just Everton factors”. When, and hopefully we do get a good manager in. It maybe 6 months, it may be 20 years. You will all realise the power of having a good manager. The most difficult part is finding it. Thats why these forums are full of who do we get, where are they. But they are out there. Please Everton. Find one.......
  10. Yes but this is almost his team now. Excluding Pickford and Keane you could pick a team that he bought entirely. There’s a couple of injuries right now but I honestly don’t think personnel is the problem here. Just because we’ve sacked managers before and we’ve not improved has no bearing on this decision. We’ve just picked the wrong guy. Do you think we were wrong to have sacked koeman, Martinez Or allardyce then? Because if you don’t then I have a funny feeling that you’d feel the same in 6 months if we got rid of this fella. As this team is no better.
  11. Now DCL looks to have put a foot forward in the strikers role, what will Kean be thinking? I'm NOT getting on his back by the way. However, I'm sure if someone would have said when we signed him that after 6 league games and two cup games, DCL was in the driving seat for the position based on 2 goals against a reserve championship side and 1 goal against Bournemouth, we would be somewhat surprised? Also, I'm fairly sure he left Juve to get game time. He could have sat on the bench there. If he continues to be in and our of the team for another month or two, questions will be getting asked form both sides. It's far too early to be saying this, it really is and I'll await the comments back but this guy could easily be back to Italy next summer if he spends a season on the periphery.
  12. Maybe I'm wrong with the Pellegrini shout but after 6 games they look to have improved. You just want to see progression right? I don' t see it. I know we've won tonight but I won't go quiet after beating a Championship reserve team. If anything positive is to come from tonight, he did change it (although I think he would have anyhow regardless of Saturday's result) and maybe now we can all realise that DCL is definitely our best option up front right now. And he's obviously open to Iwobi in the Attacking mid role.
  13. I agree Pete. For all the people who say give him time and things don’t happen quickly, do you think if we’d have appointed Brendan Rodgers instead of Silva, we would be where we are now? I think we’d be a major threat to the big teams. A proven manager used to winning. Not losing, like our guy... Even pelligrini would have been a better appointment.
  14. It's all about opinions. That's why we come on here......mine mostly to vent!!!
  15. I agree with parts of this but we need to progress and Europa League is definitely progression. It does affect your domestic campaign if the squad can't cope. I just wish we wouldn't keep on putting barriers up as to why we can't reach the top 6. Leicester will be giving it a good go this season and they are in no position to attract better players than us. The difference is that they got Rodgers. He's a proven manager used to winning at the top end of the premier league. If Leicester do finish in the top 6, it will be due to the appointment of Rodgers. Yes, we can't attract established star players but we can attract the Richarlisons of this world. I say it again. Success is deemed by good management and good recruitment. Both of ours is poor..... 16. People think sacking the manager doesn’t change anything and our recent years say exactly this but that’s only because we keep choosing the wrong man. I hate to use Liverpool as an example but they were on the brink of top 6 under Hodgson, Dalglish before they eventually got klopp who had changed everything for them. The manager is 90% the reason of the success. Maybe even more. Especially if he’s in charge of recruitment. We make excuses that we can’t attract top players but Liverpool bought salah, a chelsea reject, firmino who no one really raised an eyelid at, and Mane, whose price tag we were ridiculing at a whopping 30 mill. The same summer we bought bolasie for the same price. Them players have gone on to become world class under klopp. We have bought bolasie, Richie, sig, kean, Bernard, iwobi and DCL in the same time frame for a combined circa 200 mill. Liverpool’s front three cost about 90. Its all down to the managers....nothing else.
  17. The object of the game shukes is to score more than the opposition. It’s nothing to do with possession stats. The stat may read 10 shots but apart from kean and dignes effort the keeper had nothing to do. They didn’t play well either that’s what makes this even harder to take. The reason they won though and deserved to, is because they didn’t make basic errors. We did. They kept things compact, we didn’t. That’s why they won. The fact that we passed it round until it finally, painfully, reaches one of our full backs and we then lump a hopeless cross in means we had more of the Ball does not mean we deserve to win. id love to take that bet but I think he’ll be gone soon and we will have a new manager who will no doubt improve our squad. Shukes we are the most underperforming team in the league. His record in the premier league as a whole is not good. Nowhere near enough for a club trying to challenge the top 6. people can say that we are just 6 games in but it is the manner of how we are playing. Results are one thing but the performances are awful. There is an alarming lack of creativity. I can name Watford, wolves and Newcastle who are maybe worse than us right now. That’s it. And people still want him to continue? Would you bet on us, with Silva all season, challenging the top 6? That was our goal right? Are we going to get anywhere near? So why are people giving him excuses ...
  18. We do not look the better team. What game are you watching? We're just conceding and not scoring.. That's a bad combo you're right. We could still be playing now and we wouldnt have scored. We just played a newly promoted team who have been used to physically demanding games in the championship. Our tactic was to just get crosses in....again, the same as every other game. It's so easy to play against why can't people see it. OK then. Lets just win the odd game here and there, finish around 12th.
  19. We need to get him out now. We are just delaying the inevitable. There is zero progression. This is Allardyce revisited with worse defending. Who we get I don't know. If it was my full time job though, I would know. We would have to take a punt on someone or pay a lot of money for a proven manager. Arteta is an obvious choice. He surely couldnt be any worse We could honestly go down with this fella in charge. We havent even played anyone good yet.
  20. Are you serious Steve? Pickford was at fault for both goals. The first one was sunday league goalkeeping! Worryingly though, he's the least of our worries. Hopefully next week, City will be hoodwinked by our "get it wide, extremely slowly, and cross it" tactics. Pep Guardiola will be studying us all week trying to figure out how to defend against us.
  21. This fella could be Sergio Aguero and we wouldnt know. Looks lost but who doesnt. Just hope we dont ruin him.
  22. I have no pleasure in saying I told you so. This fella is dreadful. Someone needs to tell him that the object of the game is to score and not just get it to the full backs and cross it. If that was the object of the game, wed be top by about 50 points. Worst pattern of play ever. It doesnt matter what system or personnel you play. Under SIlva, it will always be dreadful. Easy to play against, so predictable and how boring.....................
  23. I’ve no idea how it happens Steve. You certainly don’t see the top teams scrambling round though on deadline day
  24. Yes I agree Steve. It doesn't guarantee anything at all. It definitely raises expectations though. Success is basically a combo of spending and good management. For me we are just lacking the latter. Alan Myers' podcast this week has Tony Grant on who's over here in Brisbane with Robbie Fowler. He speaks a lot of refreshing sense about Everton's start to the season. We lost our best player, and we have no ready made number 9. He also points out that by continuing to buy players at the end of the window is unfair on Marco and I can see that. As everyone wants to believe that the sun shines out of Brand's backside, no-one wanted to criticise another window where we are scrambling round on deadline day. We are playing catch up right away. It's so frustrating, we should have our players well in by then.
  25. Heard a Leicester fan on a phone in the other day slating Rodgers for playing two defensive mids at old Trafford. We’ve had two every game for about 5 years I agree. We should play two up front more regular
