  1. I know how competitive it is but since moshiri has come in we have outspent most in the league by quite a distance. That’s why there is more of an expectation to break into the top 6. We have spent. Big. Our front four cost about 160 mill. i don’t see any improvement. Aggressive is an adjective I wouldn’t associate with Everton whatsoever. Weak more like
  2. Silva's job is to instil confidence and form into players. It's such an easy and naive thing to say its the players who make the mistakes and they're on the field so they are the ones to blame. Do you think that Liverpool's team would play with such confidence and attacking threat without Klopp's training methods and man management skills? That team would be completely different if they played under a manager with different ideas. Yes the odd howler from a defender/keeper can not be down to a manager but these are consistent issues due to how the team is instructed to play and what they have been doing on the training pitch all week. He has had 12 months now. I can't see improvement. Simple. The away form prior to Silva is nothing to do with Silva. The form under him is. The fact that it was poor before he came along is just because we've been poor generally for a long time except the one season under Martinez. The home form this season has just papered over the cracks anyhow with two average performances against the two worst sides in the premier league so far. Lets not mask it as anything else. This man will never get us into the top 6. I was very hopeful and optimistic when we got him. Getting a manager who was young, ambitious with no apparent ceiling gets you excited. I was wrong.
  3. I can see where you're coming from Steve. I'm self aware enough to know that I get far too emotional and negative sometimes. For me though, it isn't just the Bournemouth game. Ive not been impressed with us in any game. Wolves was a scraped win as was Watford and Lincoln. I dont think we have played particularly well in any game yet this season. I agree Iwobi may prove to be a decent signing, I like his attitude and his direct play so maybe I'm being too harsh on Brands but lets see what we look like December time.
  4. There's an obvious difference between away and home results but I think our home results are masking the performances. It's not like we've been fantastic at home The two sides we've beaten are currently the two bottom sides in the league and they could have easily been a draw. I don't think it helps that when we go a goal down or when it's tough out there, you look to your manager on the bench and all you see is Silva looking completely dejected. He should be rallying them all together and instructing off his feet. His body language is awful and that has to reflect on the players. No wonder the team has no fight when we go behind....
  5. I would really love to agree with you Mike and Steve but I just don't see it. We weren't even good against Wolves. We scraped that win and Watford. We have had a dreadful start and I haven't been impressed with us in any game. We knew we were losing Gana in January and Zouma was always on loan and unlikely to be signed given Chelsea's situation. What did we do about it? I just don't like the pattern of play. Personnel is one thing but I have no idea how we are trying to score? Slow build up play, passing it across the midfield before it eventually ends up with one of our full backs and they try to get a cross in. It's easy to play against when teams are fit and compact. Why do you think Digne has so many chances created, assists etc....he can put in a decent delivery but Coleman can't. If the opposing team can attack Digne and try and make him weary of getting forward (Traore) or just get closer to him and block as many crosses as they can (against Bournemouth) then it stops 70% of our goal threat. When was the last time we put someone through for a one on one through speed of passing, dragging people out of position, etc. The only time we ever get an opportunity like this is when the opposing defence give it away a la DCL the other day when the pass was just over run. Its boring and predictable.
  6. Mate I get so pissed off. It honestly ruins my week. Regularly. I am full of hope, betting on us to get in the top 6 with all my mates (living in Sydney, I have a lot more diverse fans than just Liverpool fans, like back at home!) and then its just groundhog day of bang average. Mina and Keane don't work. We knew that before the window ended. Who didnt? but we hoped it would just work out fine. This was Brands priority along with a striker. He had all season. The only other centre half we bid for was Rojo! That's a joke I'm afraid. It is going to cost us. 5 games in and we have DCL up front because we have thrown our hopes on a 19 year old forward who may come good but from what Ive seen, is far away from being a Callum Wilson, for example, a proven PL striker. And we have Mina and Keane centre backs with no other options but a championship centre half. It stinks Steve of a club who tell us they have aspirations of breaking into the top 6. And they show that how??? It's basic errors that we pacify as we are used to mediocrity. Listen, it looks like we have zero chance of breaking into it this year, which was the best opportunity we were going to get and we will finish in the 8th-10th spots. Allardyce got us 8th!. That's how bad it is. But fans are hoodwinked into thinking that we are progressing when in reality, we have another season in transition before we fail in another window and our best players get sold and then it rolls on and on again.... And then I read that Brands goes round to Delphs house and we think he's some sort of legend. Easily pleased that's all I can say.
  7. Found Digne last year and now lauded as a genius. Poor window last summer and now we are realising the failings of not finding a centre back and pinning your hopes on a 19 yr old kid who played 13 games last season.
  8. Well if you go back a good few pages on this thread, you will see what people's expectations were. It was that of the next big thing in Italian football right? So what's wrong with the Rooney comparison? Rooney could have gone to any league in the world at 19 and ripped it up. I wasn't expecting him to be as good as Rooney but I think some people were..."most exciting signing in years" I heard. So what did we expect him to be like? Tosun? Who by the way, is currently ahead of Kean for me. As I said, I'm sure Kean will improve. I've lost a fortune on backing him last goal for the first 5 games so no-one has backed him more than me haha. Right now though, he doesnt look confident and I dont think Silva is displaying much confidence in him either bringing him on when the game was done.
  9. He has not done anything in his career to suggest we will progress under him. I said it last season before the mini renaissance when the season was done. We have been well and truly beaten, deservedly so by Villa and Bournemouth. I wouldnt mind if we went to these places and you could see that we are the better team. All we do is have a bit more possession with zero penetration and fans think weve played OK. Truly dull, Martinezesque style football.
  10. Yeah I agree. Im not his biggest fan but he definitely gets into this side at the moment. He moves the ball quicker than schneiderlin and sig.
  11. If everyone’s happy to keep on finishing 9th, 8th or whatever then fair enough. But this guy ain’t breaking us into the top 6. We’ve spent the money now no excuses. We are showing no improvement. Same formation, same subs....my mate who’s not a blue messaged me this morning and said hes turned two Everton games off so far cos he was so bored....couldn’t have put it better myself. I’m ready for all the back to square one shouts and season in transition and new signings bedding in blah blah blah but for me, Silva ain’t the man and I believe it’s just a matter of time before he is.
  12. I was asking questions before this game so this isn’t an emotional reaction but this seasons start has been poor. We don’t look anywhere closer to the top 6. We’ve scraped two wins out of 5 against teams that should all finish lower than us. i think Silva’s getting a bit of a free ride at the moment. I see us sloppy defensively and very slow and predictable in the build up. I think we are easy to play against.
  13. This lad may prove to be a good player when he settles but let’s be honest we were all expecting more from him. He doesn’t retain possession well at all and the fact that Silva’s starting DCL ahead of him 5 games in says it all. i don’t think any of us had really seen him play, we just clung onto media snippets from the odd Italian journo that he was the next big thing. Expectation levels have been distorted. The reality is, he’s a 30 mill striker from the continent which means it’s a 50/50 hit or miss. Let’s hope he improves. One thing for certain though is that he ain’t the Wayne Rooney of Italian football, who was burying hat tricks on his champions league debuts at 18
  14. It was definitely a ploy to get him into the wide right area as we now have an aerial threat in Iwobi from the left. Put him against a short full back and he'll win it every time. It's under rated to have a winger who can come in and head the ball. We have two now.
  15. Richarlison has won us the game. No brainer for me. Delph played really well, I was impressed. But without Richie, we don't win that game. Great header that too. it's a 1 in 5 goal that.
  16. I think Iwobi has equalled Bernard's Everton career tally
  17. Great performance today. Very comfortable on the ball and always seems to have time.
  18. I think he needs time to settle. It's not just the footballs that's different. Despite the luxuries and differences between the average person, he's still 19 and has moved countries.
  19. I'd give him the captaincy. He leads by example. He seems a real popular player in the dressing room too. His energy, positivity and quality should inspire. It's not always about being the biggest shouter. Get him on the pens too (although Sigs was decent - he's now due to miss one)
  20. I agree with all the above. Always asking for the ball and always looking to do something positive with it. He's more direct than I thought. I like his attitude and hopefully he can spark some life into our attacking play. Good to see him get off the mark too as I'm sure he's been asked to score more goals than he was doing at Arsenal. Deserved his goal tonight.
  21. I agree with Carragher on this.... https://tbrfootball.com/jamie-carrahger-claims-everton-attacker-bernard-is-not-powerful-enough/
  22. There's always an excuse with DCL. I dont wanna just slate the lad. As I said, it's not his fault, he tries hard. Unfortunately, people need to raise their expectations of what is required to break into the top 6. Who helps DCL? If you go on the other threads on this forum, people rave about how good Bernard is and how Richarlison has doubled his value since joining us. (he hasnt by the way). Also, I didnt see anyone complaining when we bought Gomes so clearly there are other players in the team who everyone rates. So basically, those players. I know one thing, he can help himself by scoring from 6 yards out with a half empty net. Phil McNulty couldnt have put it any better in his tweet. He never looks like scoring, yet there are people who still want him in the team. He's not even good to have on the bench as he hasnt got a goal in him. Usually the bare requirement as a substitute striker. The only thing which matters is results....we need to score more than the opposition. We have too many players who dont score goals. We have scored one goal in three games and had 6 shots on target. DCL isn't a scapegoat, he's just in the key position where goals are required. Trust me, I could wax lyrical about the two who started alongside him on Saturday but my fingers are getting tired.... .
  23. Are you serious? Mo salahs banged in about 60 goals in the last two seasons. He can have an off day. In fact, he can have three off days. DCL hasn’t scored In about 15 games. Shall we give him til Xmas to see if he can score a couple? if DCL goes up for sale tomorrow, who buys him? That’s how good he is.
  24. Cant believe the drivel on this thread. He should have buried that all day long. Yes, it may seem stupid to put 90 minutes of football down to one moment but that is what football's all about. When a team plays well and scores 3 goals, a la Liverpool on Saturday, it comes down to the moments where the goals are scored to define how they played. Simple as. If you have players who miss chances then you dont win games. If we all just ask for good contact and for it to be on target we would be in League two in a few years. These guys are professional footballers. It does come down to that one chance, one moment that can define your career even. Im not getting on DCL's back. Its not his fault, he's doing his best. He's just not good enough for top 6 ambitions. All this crap about we play a certain way which doesn't allow him to get chances is an embarrassing, lame excuse Id expect from someone who knows f*** all about football. By the way, if anyone does think this, you need to get on Marco Silva's thread and ask what exactly he is trying to do with his tactics. If we had Mo Salah, Mane, Aguero, Kane or any other top goalscorer - you are telling me they wouldnt get any chances? Look at Mo Salah's goal the other night. So direct, he gets the ball and wants to score. Yes he's top drawer and maybe an unfair comparison. But is he really? What did he cost? 30 odd million from Roma? How much was Mane? You see where I'm going with this. We put barriers up to ask why on earth we cant get players of this calibre. Our recruitment has been poor for years. We lack players with any instinct to score goals. DCL is not, ever, going to score a reasonable amount of goals at premier league level. I'd literally put my house on it. However, this thread will keep on going with excuses, and hard work, endeavour, and running the channels, blah blah blah,, while we keep on scoring an average of 1 goal every 3 games......
