  1. Too right, the best motivators have done it... El Tel, Arry, Joe Royle, they champion their players and make sure they get good headlines.
  2. He just needs to nail one of those one on ones right down the keepers throat and see it deflect in... he will be fine after that
  3. He gets in the refs ears too (along with Barry) - something that has been missing for too long. These boys are winners, they aren't happy to just play against the superstars - they wanna beat them.
  4. Not really - its a little bit like you have spent soo long banging your head against a brick wall about his limtations which have been met by deaf ears and then not only do we get a replacement but he actually starts firing little digs in.... we gave him and his family financial security. There's a lot of anger still there Matt... sorry but there is.
  5. I have a new response to the continued justification of giving Moyes a break being that "he saved us from relegation" JOE ROYLE - he did that, won a trophy and didn't drag another 7 years of highly rewarded, sand bagging, dour, stale, "give me more money or I will hold you to ransom over lack of transfer funds"... Not to say you are, but at the moment it is the only thing that is stopping Moyes receiving pure hatred from all corners.
  6. I thought he was trying to kiss her when I seen the still!!!!
  7. Love the way he backed Lukaku and brushed past giving Suarez plaudits... heard it on my drive in to work. He's just impressive, bright, bright, fella. Warnock trying to justify why he couldn't use Barkley.... to be honest, Leeds having Barkley is like having a turbo charger in a robin reliant.
  8. Its a joy to watch Messi, his balance, change of direction at pace, that left foot everything. The nagging part of me would say - lets see him do it at international level and for a club in another league. Not doubting him, just want to see it.
  9. Just don't like to see anyone take the proverbial out of our proud club! If you do, it ceases to be proud.
  10. Put simply, what team were offering 4th highest premier league club manager wages to deliver 7-10th place, Show me a better gig than the one he got at Everton...
  11. I'm just trying to work out what clubs with a better following than Everton would have offered a manager £70k a week to do the following:- Work with a low risk transfer budget, enabling higher wages to attract the quality places who can be bought cheap Finish in the league in and around where your wage budget predicts you will finish Surrender to top teams as long as you do the above Play any negative tactics and selections which may result in the above, as long you do 2 above Allow you to tell the fans and press that its ok to do the above 2 because you are a little lowly club I don't really think other options would have been anything other than maybe Villa, Sunderland, Newcastle.... do we really need to thank him for not going to those mega clubs??? In all seriousness, as stated before, Moyes did a rescue job for us and dined out on that. Joe Royle rescued us from relegation, won a cup, took the game to the so called big teams, transformed the team and rather than use "transfer policy" to negotiate a new bumper deal for himself actually had the integrity to resign when the board never ok'd a move for Tore Andre Flo (who would have been amazing for us BTW). I respect him immensely. Joe Royle is 5 times the man David Moyes will ever be. His humble style and loyalty to what Everton are to him will always be a reason why fans love him - it's just a pity some only remember Moyes... Joe Royle was a MAN.
  12. Reidy wasn't the most spectacular player and neither is McCarthy, but when he didn't play you knew it. Proper engine room we have now. He's like the player Scott Parker pretended to be.
  13. Good write up Romey, I agree we can get carried awy by the result which our endeavour merited, but yeah there needs to be more of the same with a little more limitation on our "lost minutes" - where we go from looking a high tempo dangerous side, to one that is all of a sudden clinging on... The good parts are very good - and soon enough we are gonna give a team a 6-0 stuffing... we just need to make sure that against better quality we cut out the "lost minutes" where we are at risk of conceding and ruining our good work. The most pleasing thing was the statement of intent from our manager and that some of us weren't stupid enough to think that pragmatism was not the only way to go against the so called super powers. Out of the 3 Moyes bogey teams so far - we have got 7 points out of 9 (Chelsea, Liverpool, Man United) - and really could be 9/9. Now if that doesn't tell you that Martinez knows how to set up his team to have a go, nothing will. Arsenal next, more of the same with a little bit more focus on cutting out mistakes and maintaining tempo.
  14. Bit of jealousy watching his replacement boss the midfield
  15. No way!!! They have spent a fortune down there too, was just at the casino last week.
  16. Was so difficult to pick one, he was pressed non stop when he had the ball and was really composed, clearly did a great job as shrek decided to try and do him. Can't wait for the day when Rooney gets Shearer'ed (I remember someone doing Shearer with an elbow - Justin Whittle I think) - has anyone done Rooney yet??? He deserves it, he did McCarthy when he was at Wigan too.
  17. I haven't judged him on that... I judged solely on the fact that he has become a very rich man playing percentage football and dampening expectations - then when he gets his shot he decides to try and fleece the club that he knew more than anyone else couldn't sell their best players for less than they are worth. I didn't expect sympathy, but I didn't appreciate him trying to take advantage and insult us into the bargain.
  18. Yeah I got a twitter reply of McAleny once after he did some ridiculous cardio session in the gym, I asked him who was the fittest - he replied who do you think? - Baines? - he said "you are not wrong" or "probably right" Mccarthy seems to have that mindset of a tiger, a bit like Reid had.
  19. with the extra 6 points we could have had with some luck we would be looking very good for top 4... long way to go but we are nearly at the business end of the season. Lets just hope some money can be spent in Jan...
  20. I'm waiting for Bill to cast his McCarthy MOTM vote to be able to move on from fearing he is another Joe Allen! Seriously though he is like a duracell bunny, the ground he covers, the positions he takjes, the way he presses, his touch and passing. He will be attracting glances before long from the big boys and would not surprise me to see Chelsea look at him. He is like makelele, does so much work for the team. Class player. Those who thought he was a waste of money fear not, he gives us more from a footballing persepective under Martinez than Fellaini ever could do - cheap at half the price!
  21. If anyone hears interviews of the players it is very easy to understand as to why we struggled to get results under Moyes - the same words about the new regime under martinez: "belief" "have a go" "confidence" "freedom".... used in a way that they never had that before. Just see at the end last night, Lukaku picked up the ball from 25 yards with a minute of injury time remaining, he could have ran towards the corner flag to run the time down.... what did he do??? Had a shot that went a metre wide.... under Moyes we would have seen wild gestures and frowns followed by a look and "I can't believe he just did that - idiot!" to his ever faithful Steve Round who will just shake his head supporting his bosses condemnation of someone trying to score a goal... under Martinez its just another playing doing what he is meant to do - play with no fear... Can we change the title of this thread???
  22. I seen this on twitter last night, was supported with photos etc. Has anyone honestly thought that David was a man of the people? - that he spent 11 years living in a semi detached house and driving a vauxhall insignia with store card debts and watches martin lewis in order to find out the cheapest energy supplier? The man was earning £70k a week and lived in luxury, he actually believed he was doing poor old dossers Everton a favour and this is how I seen him come across for quite some time... does he actually think we are going to let him get away with the stunts he has pulled??? Yes and that is why he is such a deluded, arrogant, pompous sod.
  23. Howard but some really top performers out there. McCarthy is like a rash in midfield, doesn't givectge opposition an inch. What a player.
