  1. If you quote the post I was replying to then it would be far clearer.
  2. better than schmichael, van der sar, or any modern era keeper my opinion.
  3. no just being honest, a bit of duncs aggression (controlled), his know how in dealing with players marking him tight and laying the ball of and he will be great.
  4. Ironically Naismith is better in the air than Rom from goal kicks, holds up the ball better. Lukaku has the size to be an effective target man but lacks the leap/timing at the moment and the touch. He may get there, a bit of Dunc tuition.
  5. We couldn't delay our interest, lokomotiv Moscow rumours were gathering steam.
  6. I agree. A very good player who should and could have been a great. If he was Spanish we would be calling him shite based on his international tournament performances. To be fair to Torres, he has been world class before now.
  7. Why are threads always derailed by puns? Lost my train of thought now.
  8. What is world class? For me world class means that they would get into a world 11 for being the best or at least second best in their position. Is or has rooney ever been that? No is the answer from me. He has scored great goals, had occassional great games but on the big stage has been found wanting time after time. He was at his best 18-23 years of age. Lampard has never been world class, I do think Gerrard 2005-2007 was pretty close to it.
  9. Can't disagree with that. He will probably point to his medals and say "look at that".... I would then point to Messi and Ronanldo and say "look at them". They made "world elite", I don't think rooney made world class. He made stretford an extremely rich man.
  10. the rate he's going he will be playing for QPR or Leicester by that time.
  11. Only a matter of time before this happens.... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2745969/Ronaldinho-signs-two-year-deal-Mexican-Queretaro.html
  12. He always looks like he works hard. At the moment he looks like he has to work hard to do what used to be so much easier. Paul Parker wrote a quite cutting article on him http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2741065/Wayne-Rooney-awful-Ex-Manchester-United-star-Paul-Parker-blasts-skipper.html
  13. Mirallas is far more direct with a more "greedy" mindset. There have been times where his greed has seen him score wonder goals like the one against Spurs - there were 2 unmarked players in the box but he did put it away. But there have been times where he takes the greedy option and it doesn't come off. Pros and cons. Mcgeady can make it look ridiculously easy to beat a man from a standing start with quick feet, Mirallas looks better running at pace.
  14. The 3 goals he has scored this season including the two for his country, the through ball for Naismith is definately end product IMO. We can be picky and look at times where Mirallas has lacked end product but I don't want to send you into a meltdown by being balanced. Mirallas is a good player, no one is disputing that with you, but you do go on about him as though he is Christiano Ronaldo. If mirallas had scored that goal against Leicester or played that through ball to naismith you would have been overjoyed. Like Matt said, lets give McGeady the time to get fully settled in to the team.
  15. The people who said Rooney will be finished at 30 are looking to appear more correct by the day. He has turned into something of a joke really, a botoxed, hair transplanted, undershirt wearing £250k a week player. He now has the England captaincy and in all honesty doesn't look fit to wear the shirt. A pity really, one of the best 17 year old footballers i've seen. He's allowed his genetic disposition to put weight on to ruin a great career, caught smoking, returning from summer pounds overweight. The sight of him all pink and huffing at the end of a match is a shame. He will be a shadow of the player he was within the space of 2 years, as the decline is there for all to see. Don't get me wrong, he will have achieved more than 80% of all footballers out there, but in reality he had more talent than 99% of them. As for welbeck, I expect to see him really flourish at Arsenal. Some say he shinned the goal, which he did but technically he did the right thing, read the pass which bounced right before getting to him so overall he did well to steer it home.
  16. Someone on Red Cafe made an interesting post elsewhere, the longest run as a main striker that Welbeck has at United was 6 games, in those 6 games he scored 6 goals and made 2 assists. Loads of their fans are worried that he is going to come good... pretty entertaining. Some have made very intreresting analytical posts, from open play he averages a goal every 161 minutes even considering his games on the wing and the work he does tracking back. Be an interesting one this, they are comforting themselves that Wilson is gonna be the next Jimmy Greaves. LOL, he's next for the stretford end boo boys.
  17. Not being funny but he's a better option than Phil Jones. Did anyone think he brought the swiss player down when through on goal?
  18. http://www.footballfancast.com/premiership/arsenal/can-danny-welbeck-do-a-danny-sturridge-at-arsenal IMO he will be a regular 15-20 goal a season striker with plenty of assists.
  19. McGeady is a player of the ilk of Davie Cooper, most young scottish wingers coming through have the unenviable tag of being the next Davie Cooper. Mcfadden was compared by Moyes to Cooper. The thing is Cooper was a legend who had the crowd buzzing when he got the ball as he would often try and succeed in using skill to beat his man. You want players who take on defenders, its one of the best things in the game. Remember the days when Rooney used to do it? John Barnes did it before his achilles injury, Gazza at his best would take them on. We have 2 players in Mcgeady and Mirallas who can do this - Ross Barkley does this. Lets enjoy them.
  20. I've said all along, Mark my words, welbeck will change many opinions of him. At United he was like sturridge at Chelsea, never got the central berth to show what he can do.
  21. There has only been a handful of footballers who have ever been consistently brilliant. Even Geroge Best who was ridiculously talented could look averge for 89 minutes only to win a game with a piece of skill.
  22. i'm happy to trawl through the match day threads where naismith was playing in his preferred role if you would like evidence that you have indeed "tagged" him and refused to give credit where it was indeed due... basically you just said in many a thread that Naismith is rubbish. My point being, you can't get all judgemental for people being harsh on mcgeady. If all of a sudden Lukaku pulls balls out of the sky like he has velcro on his boots and hits lovely one touch lay offs and creates openings for himself by looking after the ball then I am going to have to eat humble pie. I have stated on many occasions that I do not believe that Lukaku will develop the touch to become an all round striker. I sincerely hope that one day I have someone remind me of the harsh criticism I gave the developing Lukaku whoi has gone on to be one of the best strikers in europe. We all have our own criteria as to what we like in a footballer, some of us may be Moyes like and appreciate the dull, industrious discipline of a Kevin Kilbane, some may love the Phil Neville "look at me point and shout and be a leader". Some may love the greedy but exciting flair of Mirallas. Some may love the Jagielka "i've been caught napping so I've had to stick my head in the way of a strikers boot to prevent a goal" In short all players have their pros and cons. Some games the pros will be used to shout down the people who highlight the cons. The next game the cons will be used to shout down the cons.
