  1. He's a grafter hibbo and a great defender but in posession he's shit. I'd rate Neville over him any day, he knows when to get the early ball in. With Hibbert and our other long ball merchant Naysmith out of the team we should stop giving the ball away before we cross the half way line. Carsley is fine for our holding midfielder and Davies can join him if he wants to play 5 across the middle against tougher opposition. Otherwise I'd like to see us playing with 2 strikers.
  2. I think thats bull and patronising as well. Fans have given the ref stick for as long as I can remember, they dont need a manager to tell them what a blind twat Uriah Renie is, they can see if for themself. They get paid a decent wage now ( over 30k ) so if they cant handle the pressure then it should go to someone who can. I personally think referees should be accountable for their decisions and if the media put them under the spotlight and make them work harder with less mistakes all the better.
  3. Current: Cahill All Time: Deane & Young Past: Reid & Southall (in his 80s prime) Worst: toss up between Tiler, Angel and Hottiger
  4. Buy her a cookery book with stuff in it you like.
  5. With the takeover deal looking like its going to fall through soon I dont think we'll have to wait until May to see them go. Also the Argie International coach came out and said in the press it's the worst move they could have made. The January transfer window is looking more like it, Joorabchian will want to take his toys with him when he goes.
  6. They hate the English with a passion its not banter, any that don't are few and far between. Their own team is so shite, (below Senegal & Tunisia in Fifa Rankings ) they have to get involved supporting England's opponents because by the time any major tournament gets going they've either not qualified or been knocked out in the group stages. You see the sale of Trinidad & Tobago shirts went through the roof in Scotland during the summer ? Sad bastards. The request to join the Premiership was a joke, can you imagine it the other way around? I couldn't give a fook about Scotland, their results dont matter because come next November they will still won't have qualified.
  7. Course they want to win but not at the expense of doing ANY worse in the premiership hence blooding the 2nd string. Premiership managers put the league before the cup untill they get past the first 2-3 rounds or later if its Arsenal, Chelsea etc.
  8. Surely when Moyes rests several of the first team in the first round of the League cup that is taking it easy. It happens like it or not from each end of the Premiership top to bottom.
  9. A lot of Premiership teams field their squad players and youth starlets with the hope of winning but without taking any risk on the performance of their European or league games. This in my opinion is not doing all they can to win it's prioritising with the view firmly on maximising revenue. But you didnt answer the question Licker
  10. I didn't say I was glad he got injured. I said I wasn't going to feel sorry for someone on £18,000 a week with their feet up becuase they have a minor injury. I am glad Valente is in his place becuase for me he is a better player.
  11. I can't see Moyes dropping hibbo after his suspension is over and while he can sometimes do the crossover and cross a decent ball, he normally takes the easy option and plays it direct. I'd like to see us play a 442 but we have no width if we play Arteta in the middle. In reality the only true winger we have is VDM. Premiership defenders will get wise to the whole chip and chase with Johnson. The same goes for marking up Cahill in the penalty area. I hope Moyes signs a winger in the January Transfer window and can get something out of VDM.
  12. Last season was a transitional period for Arsenal with Wenger building his 3rd squad. Fabrigas, Flamini and Van Persie are now blooded and fully accustomed to the Premiership. They have one of the best youth selections in Europe. The addition of Gallas will shore up their central defence problem and with Rosicky and Hleb they have a strong midfield. Henry and Baptista are two of the best strikers in the world. I think they will finish second this season despite the poor start.
  13. I agree in the main but not entering is not an option without special permission from the FA or many teams I'm sure would give the league cup a miss. If you were told Everton could win the Carling Cup and finish 4th from bottom or finish 6th and get knocked out in the first round which would you take?
  14. Swap hughes with stubbs (when he gets fit) and its viable. It would be 5-3-2 for the most part playing with Hibbo and Valente as wingbacks so I dont think we would struggle defensively. The main problem is it would mean us passing through the middle a hell of a lot or from the flanks playing the direct ball 20 yards over the half way line. All too predictable for my liking. I think Moyes will stick with his current setup for most of the season unless we start slipping below midtable.
  15. It's not nice that some players serve a club for most of their career then get dumped on a free transfer but that's football. If a player can't play at the desired level they shouldn't be in the team. Naysmith isn't good enough, while hes on the pitch he gets 100% support but thats as far as it goes. He earns around eighteen grand a week, am I supposed to feel sorry for him cos hes got to sit out for a few weeks with his feet up?
  16. I would say the league cup has very little value in terms of attracting players especially outside of the UK. Europe is the factor but a 6 and under Premiership placing holds more weight. Any cup run is going to jeopardise our chances of keeping our small squad fit.
  17. Should see our possession raise by at least 5% per game.
  18. Who would you say Mark? If it's on past glory yea but what about now. You look at the team theres only one world class player who would walk into the likes of Barcelona, Chelsea and Juventus squads. Gerrard, and he only stays out of blind loyalty. He would have gone years ago if he wasn't a Liverpool fan. Xavier wants to live on past glories and refuse to accept they haven't dominated their domestic league since the 80s. That is not the sign of one of the biggest clubs in the world. Ask any neutral fan who they think is going to win the Premiership or even be runners up - none will say Liverpool. It's only Hansen and Lawrenson who bang that drum...every single year. Arsenal get Baptista and Gallas , Chelsea get Shevchenko and Ballack, Liverpool get Pennant and Bellamy. I'm sure the football world is shaking in its boots.
  19. Love the "Biggest clubs in the world" comment despite having not won a domestic league title since 1990, who are you trying to convice? Excuse the paste job but I just wanted a summary of Bellamy's history. He makes trouble where ever he goes, invariably blaming anyone but himself. He couldnt get away from Coventry fast enough and his Newcastle career was one disgrace after another. * He joined Coventry for £6.5m in 2000 from Norwich only to leave for Newcastle after Coventry were relegated in the same season he joined them - Bellamy's six goals failing to keep the Sky Blues in the Premiership. * Bellamy was sent home in disgrace from a club trip to Spain in November 2001 after going out drinking with Kieron Dyer, Carl Cort and Andy Griffin when he was supposed to be at a club dinner honouring chairman Sir John Hall. * The 22-year-old Bellamy assaulted a female student outside a nightclub in Newcastle - hitting her in the face when she tried to get in Kieron Dyer's car - and was cautioned after admitting the offence. He was fined a massive £750. * On the pitch Bellamy was given a three-match ban after headbutting Dynamo Kiev defender Tiberiu Ghioane in the face. * The much more mature 23-year-old Craig Bellamy was accused of racially abusing an Asian bouncer in Jongleurs club, Cardiff in March 2003. He was thrown out of the club, down the stairs, and was given a severe warning by Toon chairman Freddy Shepherd. Newspaper reports suggested he had called the bouncer a "f***ing Paki" and a "Paki c***", but he was never charged. * Bellamy threw a chair at Newcastle coach John Carver at an airport in March 2004 during a furious row about car parking. * In October 2004 Bellamy was substituted by Graeme Souness and responded with a four-letter foulmouthed tirade. It was caught on camera. Later the same month, Souness and Bellamy squared up during a training-ground bust-up which ended with the Scot dragging the little Welshman into the gymnasium. * Then in January 2005 came the big bust-up, Souness accusing Bellamy of feigning injury to get out of playing out of position. Bellamy went on TV and accused his boss of 'lying', prompting Souness to claim he would never play for Toon again. * In January 2005 Bellamy went on loan to Celtic for half a season, scoring seven goals in 12 league matches. * Sent a text message saying 'I am Craig Bellamy and I don’t sign for s*** football clubs' to Shepherd when he tried to sell him to Birmingham for £6m. * Bellamy was accused of sending Alan Shearer nasty text messages - including one saying 'You couldn’t even kiss my a**e' after Newcastle’s 4-1 defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final. * In the summer of 2005 Bellamy surprisingly teamed up with former Welsh international coach, Mark Hughes, at Blackburn Rovers, dismissing Champions League qualifiers Everton, who showed a keen interest in the striker. * Bellamy had to cut short his honeymoon this summer as he had to attend a police station in connection with an assault on a girl at a Cardiff nightclub.
  20. The point about Bellamy is he thinks about himself first then the football club he plays for. He will never change. I'm not saying that's wrong in general, plenty of people use the same principal to get the best out of life for themself and their family. But in top level football it means when things start going wrong his true colours will come out. If Liverpool did not qualify for Europe this year and an offer came in from a top club I'm sure he wouldnt think twice. All hypothetical I know but his history backs it up. Johnson has loyalty and you can not train that into a player, they either have it or they don't.
  21. The money rewards in the Champions League obviosly far outweighes anything possible from the FA/ Worthingtop Cup. The big teams run as businesses dont take the domestic cups seriously so yes it has devalued any prestige. Add to that most teams run at a loss in the UEFA cup untill the last 16. In this day and age with clubs run as a business it makes fiscal sense to concentrate on the bread and butter of our Premier league with 250k per place. I'd prefer to finish even 7th in the PL than runners up in the Worthington Cup.
  22. I nearly put a tenner on that as well <_< . Good game overall despite the dozy tw@t of a linesman but poor defending. I thought Naysmith and Hibbert as per usual were far too happy to hit the long ball down the flanks which more often than not gave posession away. It is a tactic of Everton old and pisses me off when we have quality like Arteta to play through the middle. Dispite his vital block, Naysmith is just not good enough for Everton his posession play is pathetic and I hope Valente keeps his place now. I'd like to see VDM given a good run out in our next game, we need more options going forward. That said I saw the Eveton TV interview before the Toon game and he looked extremely depressed and self absorbed. Johnson was very lively but I think he would do better in a 442 with closer support. Howard was on excellent form and kept us in the game. All in all Newcastle could have easily won and so could we with the chances. It's never an easy place to go and the draw was a good result.
  23. He has been outstanding so far highlighted yesterday when he kept us in the game with a 1 on 1 with Martins. I'm sure he has been a key factor in our form so far. I hope his move is made permanent.
  24. As much as I love a cup run I'd prefer we finish top 6 and get into Europe that way if it was either or. Our squad is on a knife edge in several positions and the extra games will put us under strain. I remember Boro getting to both the Coca Cola and FA Cup final in 97 then getting relegated. The monetary rewards are only there for the winner whereas each league place is worth over 250k.
  25. We can't afford to write off BT as a flop, we wouldn't get half what we paid right now and cash is tight enough as it is.
