  1. One of the hardest places to play away even if their players haven't hit form yet. I'd be happy with a 1-1 draw, Cahill to score.
  2. I don't have the mag to hand now so I can't quote, but he dodged the question about staying after his loan big time and the general consensus was that all he was interested in was getting some games under his belt. It also mentioned he has terrets syndrome which suprised me. I thought that led to twitches but he said his concentration during a game is so high he can control it. He's a devout Christian and lives by the Book so he's high on morals which could be a good thing, maybe Moyes can get a gentlemans agreement with him about staying on. It'd just be a shame to see him go back to Man you after we revive his career.
  3. In his big interview in The Evertonian he came across like he was here to put him self in the shop window, made no bones about it either.
  4. We got Jesper Blomqvist shortly after Moyes signed as well. As someone has already said Moyes and Ferguson are good friends so he got first refusal. The distance between the two clubs and Evertons recent upsurge in the league without being a direct threat makes it an obvious choice.
  5. When moyes signed for us I heard several comments from Preston NE fans saying he was a brilliant man manager but always dithered (their word) in the transfer market. You take the negatives with a pinch of salt when teams lose a manager or player but it has turned out to be very accurate. I'm happy to say this years deals have been like a breath of fresh air and has begun to sway my major concern about Moyes ability in the transfer market.
  6. I know Watford gave us and the Mancs a run for our money but they're still bottom of the league with 1 point. Its only four games in but they do have one of the weakest squads in the Premiership. They are favorites for the drop with most bookies and they dont get it wrong much. I agree with Pompey its amazing what Rednapp can do on a shoe string budget. I think west Ham will struggle this season now teams know what they're about. We've already seen Villa go there looking for and getting a draw which would never have happened last season. My main concern about our league placement at the end of the season is our other 11. If the likes of Johnson, Cahill, Arteta or Howard get injured we are going to struggle.
  7. The only 'status' they get for fighting in the name of their club is with the fans of the other clubs who fight with them. That in comparison to the rest of the supporters is a minority. Most other people just think they're losers with little to no intelligence or education. Look at the interview on 'The Real Football Factory' A-Typical' every one they spoke to, almost a parody.
  8. I think any hooligonnism will tarnish a clubs name whether it's international or backstreet. Some people like the fear factor and violence glorification it brings with it. Like that's somehow going to make us harder to beat. I'm no pacifist and fight my corner if pushed but at a football match you can have passion without violence. Innocent people are always dragged into it. Let's not pretend these people go to a barren location have a scrap then go home for tea. The bar I used to work in was the local for a famous firm in London. They used to come after a ruck and more often than not kick off on some bystander minding their own business. Some of themknow nothing about football they just go for the fight. After seeing me in a footy shirt I had one of the younger ones ask me why I didnt support a team from Liverpool, no joke. How many times have you heard of innocent people getting assaulted/stabbed on a match day on the train/tube etc. Mindless dickheads every one of em. Fair enough you get it in life and people are free to do what they want, but if it's in the name of EFC I hope every one of em gets sent down. That video link of Nichols page was good, listening to firm members trying to articulate their reasons for football violence. 9. have to say its nice to be on the other end of a stitch up for once, what a great deal.
  10. You can't really say Moyes is anti-youth in his team selection with Vaughan and Anichebe set to challenge for the first team this year. I think we have a genuine lack of tallent coming through the ranks at the moment. Hopefully Sheedy will bring something new to the table.
  11. What about that central midfielder Schumacher, he was captain for the England U17s and we let him go. Sometimes these players fullfill their potential sometimes they dont have the drive. I also think when some of these players are released it's the kick up the backside they need to use the talent they have.
  12. Most of the liverpool councilors are reds and that whole deal was rubber stamped before the planning sheets were dry. Disgusting the whole situation.
  13. Most of clubs income in the top divisions go to player wages, which in a lot of cases means theres more coming in than coming out. It's only Chelsea who dont have to worry about balancing the books. If it wasnt for the money sky have pumped into the Premier League (40 mil to each team this year reportedly) a lot of them would have gone under years ago.
  14. Only if players from Everton were playing and it was in my area.
  15. I agree this whole deal is dodgy. The West Ham board are tight fisted to put it mildly and some of them are no strangers to mixing in very dark circles, so I'm told. Living in Essex for the last 18 months I've been told many times by moaning WH fans how they've siphoned the transfer money away for themselves while selling the clubs best assets re- Ferdinand, Lampard, Cole etc. I'm sure the tabloids will be all over it tommorow.
  16. They are definately the players in form atm, defoe cant even get a game.
  17. Worked for me. I found some Asian football match, no European but it was late so thats probly why. Theres a German channcel called 'Strip News' where the newsreader that gets her kit off while reading tabloid stories quality TV you dont get that on the BBC. Though I do remember our channel 5 did something similar in desperation to boost their viewing figures.
  18. Although I'd love to sell him with no cover it's not going to happen.
  19. Nice one. I don't supose you can get Sky sports or any of the foreign football channels that broadcast the Premiership on a Saturday?
  20. That defeat was humiliating, at home as well wasnt it? Gibson isn't impetuous to sack him before Xmas, he kept Robbo when they went down, but 4-0 is taking the piss.
  21. I would substitute a lesser quality of football for stability anyday. There's been far too many relegation scraps and we've riden our luck more than a couple times on the last day in May. Anyone can see we are a solid mid table side now which would never have been mentioned under previous managers of the last 15 years bar a short spell under Royle. And with the amount of debt Johnson was getting us into at the time while building his new business ventures even that was a house of cards. We don't play great football but plenty of sides go down playing entertaining footy like Newcastle and more recently Norwich. You only have to look where Leeds are now to see where spending higher than your means gets you. We are playing the safe game at the moment slowly building. Admittedly its sickening to see how far ahead the Champions League bankrolls the big Four further away but this isn't a fairy tale and theres no billionaire sugar daddy on the horizon. I am happy right now because its the best we've been off for over fifteen years both on the pitch and financially.
  22. I remember the Suderland fans laughing when we signed him saying he was a headless chicken and a donkey to boot. Maybe we should offer him to Keane as his first major signing.
  23. Great result. Two goals for AJ and his England call up his confidence must be sky high. I do find it funny hearing the media telling everyone how badly Tottenham have played like if they'd decided to put in a mediocre performance they would have walked it. If it was Man U they'd be purring about how amazing it was they'd steamrolled a top European outfit 2-0 with only 10 men.
  24. He's not interested in coming back to Goodison by all accounts, Moyes has already looked into it.
  25. Spurs away is one of our worst grounds and I'll be happy with a draw, though not a scoreless one (start as we mean to go on). BT and AJ to start because they are the only two capable of hitting double figures this year with Cahill possibly from midfield.
