stubbs was a flop at sunderland. they were happy to get rid of him. but from the first game he played for everton since he came back he has looked a completely different player to the alan stubbs at sunderland. i would still play yobo and lescott ahead of him because he's getting old but he is still playing well apart from lacking pace. hopefully the same will be true for gravesen, he may simply want to play for everton more than he wanted to play for celtic.

bit unfair, he has a lot of experience and he is only on loan, if he's shite we can send him back at the end of the season. and he knows the club and some of the players, he will fit back in well. i'm sure moyes is only bringing him in as back up, he is probably still looking for someone else. and he offers a lot more in CM than carsley/neville.

reckon he'd be a useful addition if he was cheap. but only if he was cheap, like romey says we should be looking for a creative midfielder not another ball winner.

dont get me wrong, stubbs and carsley are good players, great servants of the club, it is just that if moyes insists on sticking with them over younger options like jags and lescott then it isnt gonna help the team.

moyes will never drop neville, best we can hope for is neville being played in his best position at RB and jags in midfield.

yeah, AJ has to go out wide to collect poor passes or to challenge opposition players, which means we have no-one any good in the box to recieve his passes. it should be the wingers doin that, not the strikers.

there would be no sense in dropping AJ for this game, true he hasnt scored since march but he always works hard and i know hard work isnt always enough but if he has service and a decent strike partner to pass to then the goals will come.

good player but very different to manny, at bolton he's thrived off kevin davies' knock downs, not sure how good he would be if there wasnt a big bloke to head it down to him. still, if we finally get yakubu suppose he would be good for 5 mil.

exactly, atm the MSI have a lot of control over him. if they see a deal thats better for them theyre gonna choose that one. and benfica wont complain, cos valencia are gonna pay them 10 mil, we were only offering 6. everton being outbid? imagine that.

about neville and carsley, people forget that we already have more creative midfielders (i.e. pienaar, cahill when fit) but moyes insists on playing them anyway. there is no garuntee that that would change even if manny signed. the best we can hope for is that jags gets carsleys place.

it was always a little too good to believe, the board couldnt tie up a signing that good without giving everyone else the chance to bid first.

ooh i've seen worse, i was unfortunate enough to be at the blackburn game in the cup last season. that made the defence today look brilliant.

agree with JD, i thought stubbs hit the bar just before their goal. i was down the other end though.

i thought jags was exellent today when he came on. baines was our best player, has a very bright future imo. hibbert was just woeful, and carsley did very little before he went off. but i simply cant believe that moyes hasnt told certain players (*cough* neville and hibbert *cough*) to stop hoofing it up to AJ. it never works and it certainly wasnt gonna work today, with samba being about 9 foot tall. the 2 new signings who played looked great though, and moyes must play them next week, time to admit defeat - carsley and stubbs are getting too old for regular prem football. and finally, does anyone know if there are any non-footballing reasons about lescott being dropped? because surely no-one would drop him becos of his performances??

yeah, i suppose if moyes wasnt put off by having a bid rejected then he must really like the look of him. good to see we've stopped being linked with past its as well.
