West Ham.......Carrick, Cole, Ferdinand, Defoe, Lampard,Glen Johnson all sold for in excess of £50m - and they were high prices at the time. Where did that send West Ham?

Beat me to it mentioning West Ham - winds me up the posibility of Rodwell going, are we just going to be another West Ham producing some of our countries best players for other clubs to enjoy their best years? It's not good enough! We may as well sell Barkley now. Something's got to change because how are we going to compete if we are selling our 'best' players every 3-4 seasons to give Moyes a budget? ...and if we're not going to compete - just balance the books then what's the point?

I'd personally be as proud as punch if we signed him.

I'd personally be happier if we could get player(s) plus cash in return for Rodwell then we would definately have some 're-investment' in our playing squad , United, Arsenal and City (and Real)have all got fringe players who would improve our first team.

My ideal scenario would be Rodwell going to Arsenal in return for Chamakh plus cash - may sound ridiculous but he's fit and doesn't seem to get a look in with RVP and even Bendtner fit and the fact that Wenger will probably be in the market for another striker this summer - may not be so ridiculous!!! (oh yeah wages!?)

Get in!!! Only Arsenal/Luton winning could have made it better - would have won £435 from £2 bet on a 10-fold!

We actually finished 6th on mine and I wasn't being biased on scores at all - Wigan/West Brom/Wolves down, Arsenal champs!

On paper we have a very good run-in... football's not played on paper though!

I know Sunderland are having a bit of a poor run and some of their players maybe out of form but Rodwell looked in a different league to Henderson when he came on - Henderson didn't impress me at all.

How's McGeady getting on in Russia? Both bought at similar prices/ similar age - I'd say MCGeady is the more direct out and out winger we need. It'd be interesting if a swap deal is talked about/ considered.

This rant is 18months out of date. Supposidly there was an offer of £8m from Turkey (Beskitas I think) and that was during the summer 09/10 transfer window - hindsight would suggest it was good business to keep hold of him with him being our top scorer last season and scoring some important goals this.

Moyes might well be one of the brightest young managers in the game but generally speaking bright people dont make the same mistakes over and over again, season after season.

How long will Moyes be regarded a bright young manager? He's been our manager for over 9yrs now!!!

On a free or very cheap (£1m) he would be a good impact player.

On the subject of free transfers - I'm sure I saw McFadden is on a free this summer - I'd rather have him back!

Manchester United want to sign Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric for £35m in the summer as a replacement for Paul Scholes, and Sir Alex Ferguson is also keen on Everton's Jack Rodwell and Sunderland's Jordan Henderson.

Obviously don't want him to go but we need Man.City to be interested if we're going to get a decent fee as £15m would be very, very angering!!!

Nugent and Bothroyd are both Championship standard and no more and certainly not an improvement on what we have already got.

 

Christ knows we need a couple of decent forwards but neither of those 2 are decent, in fact I would rather keep Vaughan and Yak than have those 2

I wouldnt mind Elmander and possibly Larsson seeing as though they are free but Nugent and Bothroyd?

We needed a bothroyd in our squad against Bolton - he can hold the ball up - all we had was Vic (and obviously Beckford was overlooked).

Nugent on a free would counter the sale of JV - a pacey striker who may impact off the bench.

Think there is already five going to be sold.

 

Yakubu .. Leicester seems to think that its a done deal for £4m

Neville.. I think Spurs will pick him up in the summer £2m.

 

James Vaughan .. Crystal palace will keep him if they dont get relegated £2m.

If you count the amount they would bring off the wage bill, plus the transfer fees, it should bring in about £30m.

That should pay off a bit of interest on the six, or is it seven loans we have made over the past 5 years.

I agree pretty much with this.

I fear our 5 will be Jags, Baines, Rodwell, Fellaini and Moyes - there will certainly be interest/speculation in all 5 - keep these and get a good wedge for those above players and I'd be optimistic of a positive future... there's a few good bosmans this summer e.g. elmander, larsson, nugent, bothroyd - these would all improve our squad and there'll be many more available. I want the plucky in the market David Moyes back this summer!
