    I wouldnt play 442, we only need a 0-0 or somthing, I could see us losing 2-1 but an away goal could come in handy as if we win them 1-0 at home we go through on away goals dont we?

    that would be what id play if Pienaar can't play.

     

    With Anderson we've got another player to give the ball away and although 451 seems more defensive than 442 it may act negatively, yak on his own will have his work cut-out, at least in 442 we've got another man up there to hopefully keep the ball up the field for longer.

    Is Dan Gosling cup-tied?

     

    He won't play til at least next season, cahill should be back hopefully.

    Pip,Cahill,Cars,Baines

    AJ,Yak

     

    Poor mid really but at least with pip and leighton we've got 2 players who'll get up and down and give us cover at the back but can also put a decent cross in - for timmy,yak and AJ.

    Fookin shite - possibly a bit of over confidence today (a bit of bad luck - hitting the post/efforts off the line) so it's good we've been brought back down to earth before tuesday. Learn from this and move on - FAIR PLAY OLDHAM - I hope they get Chelsea/Arsenal/Manure at home next round.

    the sunday papers were saying everton had a transfer budget of 5 million for january now if thats the case why has he spent 1.5 mil on a player for the future am i being really dence here but surely he should be spending the money on players for the first team right now not the future yes gosling is a good prospect for the future but with yaks,yobo and pineer going away shortly and us still going strong on all fronts surely he should be spending what money he has reinforcing the squad to keep the momentum going right now

    I hate the thought of selling Arteta - and don't want or expect him to leave in the immediate future.

    BUT

    This is interesting to consider... we sell arteta to valencia with manny/albelda in the deal + significant cash and we invest the cash in long-term target Stewart Downing. Which midfield 5 is stronger?

     

    Current: Arteta, Osman, Timmy, Cars, Pienaar.

    If and buts: Pienaar, Manny, Timmy, Albelda, Downing.

     

    I'm not saying this will happen but the later is a stronger midfield altogether in my eyes - but I believe that arteta is the outstanding player over the other names I have mentioned.

    They're bare bones - there's no doubt about that - the fact that we've both played on the wed will be to our advantage in the way that west ham were forced to rush players back against us (ljunberg/aston/parker) and maybe would have enjoyed the luxary of resting these players for a bit longer because they're not 100% just yet - us on the other hand have a settled squad and a settled starting 11 - moyes hasn't needed to rush players back - our players have been playing well TOGETHER for the past few weeks now - I'd take a repeat of last night!

    I think with Yobo goin this might give Jagielka a chance to solidify a first team place. Yobos gettin on a bit now isnt he? Or Paddy Boyle havnt seen much but he traveled wit the squad to the West Ham game also Stubbs is out so we might need Boyle.

    A few messages really shock me on this - 1st some chap saying he hoped we'd lose to West Ham last night!!! and now STATO here - Yobo's getting on a bit!!! - what next? A thread talking about a young winger Andy Van Der Meyde who's been putting some impressive performances in the ressies and seeing a bright future for this young lad!!! - I've come on here to have the crack about the team I love - it's sometimes hard when some people really don't have a clue...

    Well IMO this will be the game we can (and i hope we will) lose. Of course any loss aint good for team morale , but we do have too much games atm. League cup is not so important to any1 , of course its nice to win but thats it. UEFA cup FA Cup and EPL is enought to focus for us. Couple more injuries for us and we will be in deep shit. Hopefully DM plays this game with backup squad. If they win that would be more than ok

     

    Biggest load of turd I've ever read!!! You'll be more interested in the game tomorrow night won't you lad?!?!
