  1. I agree - £4-6m on what he has shown this season. Last summer £8m for manny would have been a snatch - but we known a hell of a lot more about the chap now - and the major sticking point for me is his attitude and most importantly his desire to play for EFC. £8m for what he was 1st spell is fine (wouldn't get much better at that price) but we don't know what he'll be like next season and if his current form/desire is what we're judging him on, then I believe there are better players out there for Everton Football Club.

  2. The BBC report must be on the basis that Cardiff are not allowed in the UEFA Cup, but generally the FA Cup runner-up with go into UEFA if the winners have already qualified for europe.

I expect Cardiff to be allowed in if it comes to that, so that would mean we can't have Pompy finishing 5th!!! as it takes up the 2 UEFA cup places (cardiff and pompy).

So my initial statement that villa aren't the problem is true in the sense (pressuming us, villa and pompy take up 5th-7th - SURELY!) Villa can finish in 5th, 6th or 7th and we'll at least be in intertoto - but if Pompy finish 5th and us 7th we'll miss out!

Of course if Cardiff are refused UEFA cup entry we've got no worries!

  3. Not strictly true. If Pompey win the FA Cup they'll qualify anyway, so Villa 5th, Pompey 6th (if they win the cup) and us sixth puts us in intertoto.

Same would apply if Villa and Pompey positions reversed.

For some reason, according to the BBC, "If Portsmouth win the FA Cup and finish fifth in the Premier League, the sixth-placed team in the league would enter the Uefa Cup, not the FA Cup runners-up." I thought the rules as they stood would have given the place to Cardiff but apparently not.

Just to depress a little further, England have fallen behind Norway in the fair play league. If it stays that way the Premier would enter a draw with (probably) six other countries for two available places.

That first statement is what I've just said in the original post! (you mean us 7th by the way).

We wouldn't get europe if pompy finish 5th (regardless if they win f.a.cup. Villa will get intertoto and pompy/cardiff will get uefa places. There is still the debate with FIFA over cardiff not being english but that'll be sorted and cardiff will be allowed in.

So my point again - pompy finishing 5th would be a worse case scenario!!!

  4. The worst result we could get against Villa is a draw...

As long as Pompy don't finish 5th we'll be playing European football next season.

So if we're going to dick about and fizzle out at the business end of the season - let's hope at least Villa stay ahead of Pompy. If pompy finish 5th and Villa 6th - villa get intertoto, we hope for fair play! - if Villa finish 5th and Pompy 6th and us 7th, at least we get intertoto!

Obviously I'd love us to beat Villa but if we don't a draw would be a worse result than Villa beating us!!! I'm sure some will disagree but considering run-ins etc.. that's how I see it!!!

  5. i know people have mentioned this but ffs what keeps them in the team Johnson is hopeless runs but nuthin provided. neville well its neville use all know. carlsey not prem standards anymore. Hibbert i though he waz awful at defeding todai. got turned far 2 easily. i hope we get kallstrom this summer. also a rb, st and winger. but we can only hope

I can safely dismiss anyones comments who can't spell today.

  6. Remaining fixtures...

Birmingham. ... Away. fighting for their lives. Can expect a harder game than Derby County. a draw at best.

Chelsea. ......... Home. man utd dropped points and now Chelsea are going for Title. defeat.

Aston Villa. ...... Home. better equiped and faster on the attack than us, maybe get a draw at best.

Arsenal. .......... Away. too good and even faster on the attack than Villa. a defeat.

Newcastle. ....... Home. Finishing the season on a high, Viduka, Owen, and Martins too much for us to handle. another draw.

we finish season with 63 points, dont think it will be good enough for 5th, Tony Adams reckons pompey can get 66 points.

I believe we'll win 3 more games this season.

  7. we need a good right back. moyes wants to buy british. answer. glen johnson. ive seen him play a few times this season (since i got sky) and johnson has certainly impressed me. hes a competent defender and he makes good runs and crosses into the box. kinda reminds me of baines. you may not rate him that highly but if we need a realistic target who is a vast improvement on neville and hibbert id go for johnson

Johnson would be fantastic but he won't leave pompy nor will they let him go as I'd expect them to win FA cup and be playing euro footie next season. We need a right-back - but if moyes see's nev as our captain next season then I'd settle with him there rather than in mid - hopefully we'll have a couple of new centre mids and depth on wings by then!

  8. Not bien funny mate but have you seen him play? i know sky sports r making him out to be a good player but they do that with every1. we need a defensive midfielder before anything, Ive gotta feelin Mannys price tag could be alot lower than we think, id sign him an Pienaar for definate.

Mate I'm not saying I want him in a blue shirt, I'm just going off what the rumours have been - it doesn't seem that moyes will find this type of player in britain - whereas he may quite easily snap up a british winger.

Kallstrom however is player I've seen a few times and I have heard good stuff too - I've been impressed.

I think manny will be a lot cheaper than we think - he looks like he's playing for a move anyway (shit - so he's in our price bracket!!!) - I won't forget how good he can be though!!!

  9. Is moyes hinting about his summer targets?... ledley?, adam johnson?, bentley?, barnes? - we'd be alright for a british winger - not so sure about that box to box all round action-man midfielder we so desperately need... man need to go abroad for that one... fellani, kallstrom, etc...

  10. I'll be 1 of 20 at this game courtesy of Joleon Lescott. R kid's stag doo...

    - on the piss friday

    - Grand National saturday

    - Everton 5 - 0 Derby sunday

Joleon sorted us 20 tickets out through links we've got at Wolves - still charged us though - I'm sure there'll be a signed shirt somewhere along the line though!!!

  11. What is this crap? Moyes has been here 6 years and we've brought two manure players in, hardly a regular thing now is it?

I bet he'll sign a Man.Ure player this pre-season - brown, scholes, fletcher, saha, o'shea - but I reckon Gary Neville would be worth a couple of quid - total long shot. Moyes and Fergie are close and we are linked to a Man.Ure player every summer. They're the only club I can think of that we've signed more than 1 player off in Moysies time...

  12. Howard

    Nev...Yobo...Jags...Lescott

    Art...Fernandes...Cars...Ossie...Pienaar

    Yak

Subs: Wessels, Baines, Hibbo, Vic, AJ

I fear hibbo will start and fernandes will be on the bench - nev in mid. - although fernandes has been shite I'd still prefer him in mid than nev.

    I'd like to see:

    Howard

    Nev...Yobo...Lescott...Baines

    Arteta...Cars...Ossie...Pienaar

    AJ...Yak

Subs: Wessels, Jags (although argueably our player of the season, a couple of mistakes are creeping in), Rodwell (what an experience for the lad!), Fernandes, Vic

  13. Moyes will make 1 or 2 BIG 1st team signings (e.g. yak, aj), snap someone up from the lower leagues (where do i start?), and sign someone who is being frozen out on-loan (e.g pienaar, fernandes, arteta). And of course we need to sign our token man.ure player!!!

Big signing's (strengthen 1st team) - Kallstrom (dm), Pienaar (l/rw), Gary Neville (rb)(we always have 1 token Man.Ure signing...)

Lower league capture - Ledley (lw)

Squad signing - another striker, another centre midfielder, gardner (cb) if he's impressed and free or £500k

Plus moyes always pulls a fantastic loan signing or two out of the bag.

I expect VDM and Nuno to leave - see the back of grav and fernandes (unless he's playing shit to bring his price down!) and I'm not 100% confident on AJ's future - swap for Ashton? - I would...
