    I like sometimes the "go out there and express yourself"

    You need to find the right balance, Moyes does seem to be on the extreme though. I'd like us to try go through the middle more, it's harder but we have the players to do it. Moyes seems to play percentage football, always going down the left.

  2. Small possibility of getting in through the Fair play league, going off the data on premierleague.com

    Only has the 1st half of the season http://www.uefa.com/...83_DOWNLOAD.pdf

    Premierleague only has to http://www.premierle.../fair-play.html 26

    With the average at 8.217 which would be enough if the 1st half is a good indicator. It's a long shot like, and even then we'd have to hope Swansea pick up a few red cards.

  3. The Mirror:

    "He was lampooned, crudely and unnecessarily, as Woy." - 29 April 2012 http://www.mirror.co...est-brom-811852

    The poll on who to be England manager is quite interesting. 40% Roy to 41% Harry, considering how much the press have gone on about the public wanting Harry there's very little in it and the papers were just after Rednapp because the back pages would have been easier to fill. Plus with it being a rag so most the Harry votes would have been brain washed idiots.

  4. For me that is a relegated team, with Osman or Dempsey, if they tried to play attractive football. Though I think you make a fair point on the money they have spent on the strikers. They haven't even tried to adapt. I just think its difficult to bring in the players they need to adapt in a transition that doesn't run the risk of getting them relegated. Looks like the Stoke fans are fine running that risk given that link though

    Think it's a got to the point they would rather be relegated and watch enjoyable football.

    In my mind when I put that team I was thinking of how Moyes evolved us from 06/07 (using the squad Moyes took over would be unfair as we didnt play the best football then, even though it was better than Stokes with worst players than they have).

    Begovic = Howard

    Shotton = Neville

    Woodgate = Yobo

    Huth > Stubbs

    Upson < Lescott

    Palacious = Carsley

    Soares < Arteta

    Etherington = Osman

    Walters < Cahill

    Crouch = Andy Johnson

    Fuller > Beattie

    6 equal players, 2 better, 3 not as good as what we had. Which wouldn't make for much room inbetween us, especially if you consider the thinnest of our squad. I'd be pissed that Pullis had not followed a Moyes model/adaptation, he's got good enough players to build around and if he's not good enough to push on he should have been sacked by now.

  5. How many players would they have to buy to "evolve" as you say? It would be a costly evolution that would certainly drag them close to the relegation zone. I'm surprised that Stoke fans have complained about Pulis given that hes given them 3 comfortable midtable finishes and a taste of Europe but then again I haven't had to watch Stoke on a weekly basis. Maybe it gets old even if it keeps you in the Prem.

    They have a good base, but need an attacking midfielder, they have spent £25+ mil on Fuller, Jerome, Crouch, and Jones who are all similar players. They brought in Tuncay, which could have helped them in transition to another style but they never adapted so he flopped.

    Begovic

    Shotton Woodgate Huth Upson

    Palacious

    Soares ??? Walters Etherington

    Fuller/Crouch

    They have a good base and could easily adapt to a better style. Similar to what Moyes had his first couple of seasons(if not better). What they do atm is a disgrace. They have had money, they have no excuse to be playing like this anymore.

    The team I've done above, if you added a player of Osman to Dempseys quality and it would be able to play at least a premiership standard. Then progress by bringing in a a winger, then a left back, someone for Walters, then finally another striker to freshen things up, and they'd be a top 10 team playing good football rather than an un-relegatable poster boy of anti-football.

    Did you really just say that Lionel Messi would struggle to get a game at Everton?

    Lionel Messi may have one of the best teams giving him service but put him at another club and he would do just as well. The argument that he coulden't do well in a team such as say, Wigan Athletic is invalid because nobody can win games on their own week in and week out. He'd do it a few times but not all season, nobody can.

    It's a mental argument. Even Maradona had help at Napoli. Of course Messio wouldn't look as good at Stoke - the same as every other world-class player would look worse at Stoke.

    His ability to create something himself would mean he'd look a bit better than most other top players, though.

    Put Drogba or RVP in a Wigan/Stoke and I'd expect them to get at least double what Messi could.

    I am a Spurs fan and have watched most of our games this season and although he a had a shocker at Goodison he has been pretty solid most of the season, He tracks back well tackles well, is ok in the air, plays better when Lennon is playing as the two of them have developed an understanding, negatives positional y he needs to improve and his decision making is poor, but he will learn to read the game, although I would like to know what has happened to Micah Richards as he looked like he was going to be best right back in the league

    Seen a few other Spurs games since, and he has been average(and thats being kind) in them, hats off for his fk on the weekend though.

    Micah was moved to the middle and forgot how to tackle, think the money has gone to his head.

    He's just being humble. Pete is totally sound, but there's no way he'd genuinely rather have the likes of Higuain, Pato and Podolski at Everton before Messi. Not a chance.

    That's exactly what I was getting at. Messi would struggle to get a game for us, and would be lucky to get any where near a team like Stoke. He's a luxury, and dont dismiss he's not as clinical with just your words and belief, because its a fact. Ronaldo scores more with less shots, Messi has the best midfield in the world giving him chance after chance, put him in Stokes team and he'd be a 10 goal a season striker (probs all from the spot). Any of the other strikers I named could score goals anywhere.

    Edit: Totally agree about Rooney

  9. why is he the 3rd highest scoring player in the fantasy football league then?

    He only has 2 goals and one assist, Hibbert has done better in less minutes, if our centre-halves had been any good in the 1st half of the season he'd be top.

    Walcott is 4th best midfielder, shows the points system is flawed and tbf it's just a game.

  10. I can't even believe I am having this conversation. This 'more leagues, Messi isn't that good because he was poor against Chelsea' is the type of argument you expect to have with a 14 year old who's only just started watching football. No offence.

    It werent that he didnt play well, it was his game is totally useless against an English style defence.

  11.

    I'm not taking sides but I 100% agree with this. It gets on my tits that people say that Messi is not the best player in the world because he has 'only played in Spain'. Are people really suggesting that he has to go around the world moving clubs just to satisfy the pundits? FC Barcelona have bent over backwards to get Leo where he is today and rightly he's said that he wants to spend his whole career there.

    Messi has torn up teams all over Europe in the Champions League and has done pretty well when called upon by Argentina. The argument that CR is better because he has been at more clubs is pathetic, Messi is the best player in the world today and is the best player in my lifetime so far by a long way.

    Messi is one footed, Ronaldo and Higuian are more clinical in Spain. Messi even admitted/acknowledged Xavi and Iniesta are better than himself. How can you claim he's the best player in the world when he was a ghost against Chelsea. Many strikers I'd have before him: Ronaldo, Villa, Higuian, Pato, Cavani, Podolski, Ibrahimovic, Llorente

  12. It won't be so easy. Their players will be hoping to show enough for other teams to take a chance on the =m next season. Maybe an open game as their attacking players will go all out, giving us an easier job on their defenders.

    Howard

    Hibbert Jags Heitinga Distin

    Neville Fellaini

    Barkley Osman Pienaar

    Jelavic

    We can't afford any. If going cheap, Kightly or Jarvis. Rather look else where though.

    Maybe Sven or Di Matteo if he doesnt get the Chelsea job.

    Favourite crisp: Mexican Fiery Sweet Chipotle

    Wolves 3-5 Everton

  13. From the Cahill vid on the OS it sounds like we're gonna try bully them then play football, so not expecting this to be pretty.

    Howard

    Hibbert Jags Heitinga Distin

    Anichebe Osman Fellaini Pienaar

    Cahill

    Jelavic

    Don't think Moyes will risk Gibson's knees in this one. Pity we are playing Stoke, any other team and I'd of been hopeful of Barkley starting.

    Howard, Hibbert, Distin, Heitinga, Jagielka, Anichebe, Pienaar, Osman, Fellaini, Cahill, Jelavic

    Gibson/Neville out, Vic/TC in.

    Mucha, Stracqualursi, McFadden, Gueye, Barkley, Coleman, Duffy on the bench.

    David Moyes isn't predictable, he just checks my posts for ideas wink.png

    They were very lucky to hold out against Arsenal, and have nothing to play for(apart from their empty vessel fans). 4-1 to us, early Jelavic pen to shut them up, Anichebe, Osman and Pienaar with the rest. Sloppy corner Shawcross goal for them.

  15. Liverpool fans like to deflect from the fact Benitez left a mess (oh and they tend to forget wanting rid of that man, and want him back now). Hodgson was LMA manager of the year and deservedly so, can't see him suddenly becoming tactically inept over a couple of months. Hodgson was nothing but a fall guy at Liverpool. Dogleash wasted £200 million and still hasnt fixed Rafa's mess, but somehow it's all Hodgsons fault.

  16. It was hypothetical Pete but that is not My mentality maybe others, two or three cunts don't make a whore house so even though I don't like the said few it doesn't stop Me supporting My nation.

    Them, along with players picked by the media or by what team they play for rather than merit, make it too hard for me to support it. Warnock a head of Baines, all the fodder a head of Parker. Before that Gerrard and Lampard 'dilema' if they dont play well together dont pick them, not that hard of a decision. Scholes pushed to the left/pushed to retirement. Barmby didnt get a call up till he made the switch to the shite, Keown a head of Dave Watson. Shocking system no wonder they never win. Hopefuly Hodgson wont bend over to the pressures from the FA to have their media darlings in the team.
