  1. alright, i should have used different phrasing. it might have been offensive .. for this, i apologize.
  2. couldn't disagree more .. all these cult proceedings (easter etc) have little meaning today in my opinion .. besides shouldn't be allowed to play football on saturday then either seeing how a day of silence and prayer which commemorates the dead Christ in the tomb shouldn't be celebrated by chanting and yelling.. plus, it's probably not that relevant today who founded a club 100+ years ago.
  3. delusional you can't built a winning team in 5 years ... if there was some british talent out there that would be capable of winning the tour de france, i'm quite sure i would have heard about that guy ... so the only way i can see "Team Sky" winning the Tour, is if they buy foreign talent ... that would take so much money that his return on investment will be non-existant in a market that doesn't care about cycling such as the UK ... besides for the brits there's not much fun in seeing a foreigner win even if he's racing for your team .. cycling is still to a large degree an individual sport, where teams come and go. His plan just shows that he doesn't know much about cycling and how other teams and countries are trying to train Tour de France winners. however if he just wants to raise intrest in britain, maybe launching a dumb idea is a brilliant strategy .
  4. probably unlikely that someone here is into cycling but you never know this week from 5/4 tot 12/4 is the most exciting week in cycling apart from the Tour de France : -Tour of Flanders -Ghent Wevelgem -Paris Roubaix Tour of Flanders was won by De Volder (the winner of last year) .. for Ghent Wevelgem Cavendish is the clear favorite (at 2,75 per euro bet) and for Paris Roubaix the oddsmakers got Boonen at 3,50. Cavendish will win in Wevelgem, he's just so much faster than the other sprinters. But for Paris-Roubaix he's not yet strong enough in my opinion (Milan - San remo which he won, is a much much easier race to win if you're the fastest guy in the peloton). Obviously hoping Boonen will win in Roubaix but I don't quite see it happening. He's the favorite and everyone will always be jumping on his wheel if he tries anything .. I'd go for George Hincapie. The guy is gettin closer to retirement and really deserves a win in one of the classics so wouldn't mind it much. I wouldn't be surprised if he won the sprint after 170 gruesome miles.
  5. max points seems impossible .. but only because chelsea is in there ... all the other games are very winnable on our current form (and the way moyes sets his pawns).
  6. i agree with mark lawrensen (for once) .. thought fellaini was clear motm .. awesome to see osman back to good form tho.. jo seems to be really comfortable when he doesn't have to be the targetman, but can just play off the upcoming players .. if we field these 11 in the exact position they played today, aston villa are done .
  7. that implies we'd go back to a two-striker team ... with the players we have that just doesn't work .... look at the game today against wigan .. Jo backed up by Fellaini backed up by Cahill .. works brilliantly.. against portsmouth we played saha and jo... horrible, fellaini non existant, we lost the midfield battle .. yakubu, saha, jo .. one of them needs to go in the offseason .. don't really care which, all three are good enough strikers to play for everton.. but two starting strikers doesn't work... most likely to leave is Jo because we can't afford him, which is just fine..
  8. seems you need a fro to score a goal in this game.
  9. Ryan Donk ... from west brom. saw him play a lot for AZ Alkmaar, very good defender.
  10. I know he can play RB but it would be such a waste of a good CB/defensive midfielder ... it's like when jags played a couple of games RB, he's not bad at it, but he's just so much better in a different position.. To me Vertonghen is a true defensive midfielder (not one of those fellaini types who turn out to be better fit playing offensive midfielder).. he's mature beyond his age and very tough nosed.. i don't think 4mil would do it (except if he just boycotts ajax and forces a transfer) , i'd have guessed somewhere from 7-9mil..
  11. Moyes hasn't given up on Jovanovic yet though : "Everton boss told to sign Standard Liege striker Milan Jovanovic." http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/sport/2410...N-THE-HUNT.html
  12. and here's the proof : http://www.sporza.be/polopoly_fs/1.495075&...e/568072873.jpg .
  13. Jo and Saha upfront just doesn't work ... One striker, stick Cahill and Fellaini behind the striker ... if Cahill is out, put in a midfielder, not a striker ... Also I think Howard should have come out on their first goal .. that assist-header was slow and high .. he should have gotten there ... high balls is actually one of the things he's really good at .. I think he's really low on confidence right now. That's two games in a row now where I think he's culpable on a goal .. These games where a whole bunch of players just seem to go missing are happening more frequently ... Moyes needs to do something... our midfield was non-existant.. shite.
  14. thanks mate .. skipped right over your earlier post srr.
  15. ugh i'm 8 minutes late and already missed a goal ... thank god it's everton's. was it a free kick or something ?
  16. imagine if they hadn't stolen the win at goodison ...
  17. ManU 89 Chelsea 88 Liverpool 84 Arsenal 71 Aston Villa 68 Everton 64 West Ham 52 ... Sunderland 34 West Brom 31 Middlesborough 29 .
  18. yeah Arteta is definately not a winger .. and Defour plays in the exact SAME position as Arteta has been playing before the injury.. given the way they play they are very similar .. tough to say who of them is better because all Defour does is face weak competition week in week out, so it's easy to shine.. anyway, it seems he said in some Walloon newspaper (la derniere heure) that he won't come to Everton if Standard manage to qualify for Europa Cup or Champions Leauge (which is very likely). (presuming that moyes would even want him)
  19. i agree howard should have saved it .. but wasn't neville also in a position to kick it away from danger? .. or was he so convinced it was an easy pickup for howard that he just could let it go? i'm hoping moyes sticks with the 1 striker formation against pompey, in that case we'll win comfortably 2-0 ..go blue.
  20. Pienaar ... not only was he working his ass of as he always does .. he didn't annoy met once with stupid little passes with the back of his heels .. he should have gotten a goal, would really have capped of a great performance.
  21. looks like Mo is actually faster with the short hair ... makes sense (? ).. jo is playing really well thus far .. good job by him.
  22. Mo, you're purty .. :glare: someone shoot the barber.
  23. very interesting . hope you don't mind me asking follow up questions.. 1/ "particulary the Belgian league" .. why? how is it related to your college-years? 2/ are you a writer? anything we might be able to read?
  24. and Alan Hansen and Alan Shearer agree but 234ever is right in the fact that Defour would be a good buy for any team that buys him. The reason Witsel wouldn't fit in with Everton has to do with the fact that he's better suited for the more technical Spanish League instead of the rougher premier league... that kid is not tough at all.. i think he's about the same age as rodwell but j-rod could push him around.
