Also if this deal goes through, Real are out of the running for Ronaldo so there after all might be credence to Ronaldo's statement that he wants to stay with ManU.

how much money do you get for qualifying for the Europa League? the CL is 15million euros just for qualifying .. but I imagine the Europa League is much less, should still be a nice sum though.

Bayern pays 30 million euros for Mario Gomez from Stuttgart. I don't get that at all, I've never been overly impressed with him although he does manage to score 20+ goals.. but if you sell Ribery for only 25 million and you already have two premier strikers like Klose and Toni, I don't see the added value of Gomez .. he was aweful at the European Championship and seems very limited with the ball in his feet. I would rather have kept Podolski to back up Klose and Toni than vastly overpay for Gomez. But if that is the rate at which strikers are going to go for this offseason I'm scared at what it's going to cost us if we want to add one. I would hope a player like Gomez would be the least we got.

actually apart from the money i think it's not that good ... in the Europa League you meet teams like Everton which on a good day Standard can beat and those are great great games ... but in the CL, all you can do is hope you don't get slaughtered by Barcelona etc. and play for the 0-0. if now their best players leave it's gonna be embarassing.. but i won't care if Defour comes to Everton .. that would make 2009 the best year of the millenium .; one of my favorite players on my favorite team.

i thought so too .. but the rules have changed and this year, the belgian champion gets direct qualification, and the second in the league has to play two qualifying rounds.

well today standard became champions again in belgian league this year. means a direct qualification for CL .. hope they can compete in europe same way they did this year.

here's an interesting bit of information : (it's true for belgium i don't know if it translates to UK) if you add up what the average smokers pays society through taxes on their cigarettes and the money society saves because smokers don't live as long and you don't have to pay pensions to them into their 80's .. and then subtract the amount of money for the hospital bills that society contributes, you get that smokers actually make society richer.. if we all started smoking we'd close the budget deficit! . (for the record i'm an occasional smoker doing all i can to keep belgium from going bankrupt). other than that : good luck aaron.
