  1. I am deadly serious there are two young players who both are highly rated and obvioulsy may cost but wouldn't it help our record signing to get a couple of old teammates in. I also think defour would provide a good foil or even competetion/cover for arteta and wixtel would also be good cover for the whole midfield.

partly the problem :) .. by overpaying for one of them, moyes set the price pretty high for the other two ...

besides they're both CM's , one playing in Arteta's position and the other playing where Moyes uses Fellaini.

no sense in spending £35mil on two players you don't really need.

  2. after the ManU game at home this season.. went on the internet looking for a place to talk about that game seeing how it was such a good one.. from google, stumbled onto ToffeeTalk.com.. started watching all the Everton games and immediately checking in here afterward to see what everyone thought about the game.. so I guess TT is mainly why I became a Blue.

I guess you'd call it the nerd-way :nerd:

    :D .

  3. EW..... Well we could do a swap deal, we'll take Defour and they can have Fellaini :D

    _ _ _ _ _

I'm in two minds about that, Fellaini was supposed to be the best player in their team, so i'm not sure what the others would be like. ;)

Moyes bought fellaini because of his height and physical capabilities as opposed to Defour who resembles Pienaar en Osman more.

I think it's hard to compare the two.

Given Everton's situation, Fellaini was probably the better buy ..

but if I were to start a team from scratch and I had to choose between the two, taking Defour would be a no brainer.

  4. I saw him play at Inter Milan and for the Dutch national side and purely focusing on his football capabilities he's actually exactly what we need .. someone on the right side capable of delivering some good crosses .. he's got some speed and can deliver the ball in the box .. with cahill , jo , saha and fellaini we should be able to get some goals from that ... certainly with the way osman has been struggling, why not give VDM a chance?

on the other hand, as written in the article Mike posted, he's been highly unreliable .. I can just see him doing well these last few games, gettin another big contract from some other club and then fucking it up royally again with his off field troubles..

purely focusing on Everton winning right now, i'd say give him a chance ... but if i had a grudge against him from how he didn't perform for Everton over these years even though he was paid a lot of money, i'd say leave him on the bench..

    sophie's choice :) .

  5. (1).. NO, because different peeps have different favourites and votes are spread. Early on in the season, i'm not sure which game it was and cant be bothered searching for it, we had a sub come on in the 85th minute and somebody actually voted for him as MOTM  he was only on the pitch for 5 mins ffs, thats the sort of thing i'm talking about. And if you look back on all the threads you can find more examples.

so how does that translate into this game? ... the equivalent of what you describe would be if for example Rodwell had received a vote seeing how he only played one half and not a very good one at that ...

while in this MOTM vote I think there's an argument to be made for every player that received a vote.

jamie's probably right in saying that you get a better sense of what Neville does when you're at the game, maybe he does a lot of stuff away from the ball that you don't get to see on TV...

anyway it doesn't matter.. I just thought that your post in which you said that you (an admin) wanted to abandon such a popular feature as MOTM because you didn't think it reflected the way you saw the game was something that needed to be responded to :) .

  6. I'm nearly lost for words, some peeps view of this game and the players performances has astonished me, i really think we should think about abandoning the MOTM altogether, peeps are voting for their favourite player no matter how he plays, which in the final analysis makes a mockery of the whole thing.

My vote goes to the man who WAS the man of the match, who held the side together when we where on the floor, and who did twice as much work as anybody else on the pitch, Captain Phil Neville was by far the best man on the pitch.

closely followed by Pienaar and Lescott.

We where shit for 70 minutes of this game, the only time we looked better than them was for 20 minutes of the 2nd half, and this was a team that has only won one game of their last 16, has only scored 8 goals in 14 away games and are lying 2nd from bottom in the league. We can thank the gods that we were'nt playing a half decent team.

if that were the case, wouldn't we have the same MOTM every game?

or at the very least have the same players receive the same minimum of votes each game? (which is not the case)

do you actually disagree with the overall standings of MOTM? .. I find them to be quite accurate with Jagielka and Arteta leading the pack. Maybe only Neville should be a little higher. So this also unjustifies your statement...

I watched the whole game on tv (so no streaming problems, didn't miss a thing) and I can't believe you thought Neville was -BY FAR- the best player .. but that doesn't mean to me that you just vote Neville because you like him, I respect the fact that you saw the game that way even though I didn't..

we were indeed playing bad for a large part of this game, however we played much better than those atrocious efforts against newcastle and blackburn .. you need to look at this game in that light and then you can't deny obvious progress.. I actually applaud the fact that the overall sentiment on this forum is now one of optimism .. one good half and we're immediately behind our players again without bitching about this and that... we can build on this!

  7. when gosling came on he ran towards fellaini and spoke to him for a few seconds ... has gosling been working on his french or arabic or has the big fro actually managed to pick up the lingo "already"?

is he still using an interpretor in interviews?

  8. I'm going to offer a different opinion .

Against United , we traditionally play well , and it's normally a tight game .

We have a game at Wembley against the best team in the world , and I have a good feeling about it . We deserve a little luck this season , and it might come in the league , or it might come in the cup , but I'm confident it will come .

None of the draws were easy , including Hull , and Arsenal and Chelsea are starting to find form , so why not play United ?

Better the devil you know .

    1-0 or 2-1 to the blues :)

couldn't agree more with what you said ... no easy teams in any semifinal of the FA cup .. it's gonna be a great game..

much rather have it this way than to get Hull and struggle against them..

    everton spirit will prevail.

  9. Fellaini is shit anyway, we need Saha and Gosling on for Rodwell and Fellaini, Has rodwell touched the ball yet.??

i disagree .. he's been the most dangerous one in the first half .. and middlesborough are obviously worried about him seeing how they're constantly fouling him..

cahill needs to step it up ... bring in VDM for rodwell, move osman to the middle.

  10. we're playing poorly..

rodwell is invisible, baines hasn't given any good crosses, jags is playing out of position RB, saha's confidence after his goal last saturday is wasting away sitting on the bench, jo isn't gettin anything useful to work with, ...
