  1. The article references that Brum might not be able to prove they meet financial standards (whatever that may be) and 6th in the league might get into Europe if thats the case. As for fair play I think Fulham have it pretty much wrapped up. They are "well clear" of us and while thats table isn't updated they have had fewer cards than Everton over the past 2 games as well.
  2. there goes micky for a month
  3. Unless they bid more than we value one of our players in which case we should sell

  6. bily's got a throw on him!
  7. What's this a tactically positive substitution?
  8. I think there is a serious argument to be made that Moyes is not the best man for the job- but the cost of a managerial change at this point is entirely preventative. Moyes is due another 10 millions pounds on his contract right? So sacking him will be expensive. Furthermore any manager brought it will not be able to remodel the team as no money will be made availiable. Everton, to use the overused phrase, have been punching above there weight for the past 5 or so years and now we seem to be slipping down the table the past two years- This is not an attractive situation for a manager a team with relatively high expectations and few resources to meet them with. The cost of Moyes' contract termination aside I dont think we could even entice Owen Coyle to come here let alone a proven world class manager. I think Everton are married to Moyes at this point- for better or for worse. Moyes has won with Everton before and with the players he has now and he has won playing Cahill up top before. I am in know way trying to defend his tactics but Moyes did not become tactically negative this season- he always has been and Everton have won despite it. In moyes we trust- anyone who says that is a fool. But sacking him wont solve the problem it will compound it.
  9. As mentioned before Cahill, Howard, and Distin all more than deserving- but seeing as though he has arguably been our most important player this season (and only 5th in total votes)... cahill
  10. Remember Moyes' Pienaar quote, how he wasn't bothered about Steven leaving because he only bought him for 2 million and his service was worth well more than that? It seems that Moyes sees being frugal in the transfer market and then not selling the clubs players at their peak value as being financially disciplined-when all that really matters is net transfer spend and wages and that it has basically cost us 10m (in the opportunity cost of keeping him +wages) to keep him this last year.) Taking a gamble with the clubs finances is not selling a 32 year old striker with an injury history for 8 million (I am perfectly aware we needed sahas goals badly at that time- but we sure could use those 8m now.) and letting Peanut's contract run down thus depreciating his sell on value. Conservative I think is an excellent word to describe Moyes- So while he would never shell out cash on a high risk high reward player, it seems to me he was ok letting a player's transfer value depreciate at the expense of the club's finances.
  11. Felli was outstanding but there with 3 times (all in the last 10 mins?) when he brought down the ball so magnificently only to spurn the obvious pass for a flailing shot... so baines for me
  12. BECKFORRRRRRRRRDDDDDDDDDD. Baines Great Stuff
  13. or keep heitinga and sell jagielka (arsenal sniffing around for 12-15 right?). Everton come out 10M to the good with a younger, albeit less proven center back with similar versatility and we can still use Heitinga as the first choice CB
  14. Micky is no way in my good graces after that goal

  17. yakubu- so glad he hit the target. He looked a little timid and relieved after he finally scored but there was nothing timid about that finish
  18. The red sox owners know what they are doing- they are turned the red sox into a revenue machine
  19. Proved himself? At what point? He was excellent in the confed cup (against Spain at least) in 08 but was shit in the worldcup- He wouldn't have been shutting down world class strikers at Watford. It was mentioned a few times at the world cup that he has had some eye problems effecting his depth perception. I would MUCH rather see Duffy in there.
  20. agree completely... one of my least favorite players
  21. I think its a glaring weakness in our side. When teams "park the bus" we dont have any pace to get to the goal line to slash crosses across the goal mouth. All of our crosses came from deep. I thought Baines' crosses were decent enough but Samba and Nelson never looked troubled. Certainly no style points from Blackburn but even if they hadn't scored early I wouldn't have expected them to play any differently. Last season we struggled against Wolves, Stoke, and Brimingham all teams very similar to Blackburn IMO because unlike any other top 8 team we lack an explosive player who can take isolated defenders on.
