  1. Confusing? The Labour Party conference and the TUC conference are 2 separate events. The Labour Party conference takes place in Brighton, starting on Sept 27th!?
  2. I think that from next season we're going to have to name a minimum number of 'home grown' players in the match day squad of 18 anyway - so 6+5 is here. In reality, this is a really good thing for clubs like Everton and Aston Villa - we will be largely unaffected. It levels the playing field and means that our prudent approach over recent years of bringing through our own youngsters and in identifying good young players e.g. Garbutt, Gosling, Mustafi, will pay dividends for us. Players under the age of 21 who meet the 3 seasons criteria will not have to be named in the 25, so that means we can have 25 plus Rodwell, Gosling, Baxter, Wallace, Garbutt etc Clubs like the RS, City and Spurs who already have shed loads of overseas players will have to do considerable pruning. Also, I think its good news for young English footballers - it will increase demand for them and secure more of a future in the game - even if ultimately they are loaned to lower league sides.
  3. The lack of transparency is what makes it seem so unbelievable. Presumably we've paid a big fee to take Jo on loan, as well as big wages. Plus we'll have a large instalment of the Fellaini fee and other fees for players including signing-on fees and loyalty bonuses for all those players that have renewed or signed improved contracts. Add to that the signings and wages for the two American boys and Mustafi then you can see where we've had additional outlay - but still the sums don't add up? Would Moyes have been happy with Naughton, Jo and 3 reserve players for a summer's spending following last season's performance?
  4. Sounds like not all of the money's will be going thru the books!!! <_<
  5. It might be more interesting if the article wasn't more than a year old!!
  6. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/c/chelsea/8236187.stm If this decision sticks and other clubs are brought into disrepute (Man City/Real Madrid) then this will make the next couple of transfer windows within reach for clubs with smaller budgets.
  7. Those comments are overly harsh on Ossie but I think we'll see Neville and Pienaar down the right against Fulham with Rodwell or Fellaini in the holding role in centre mid.
  8. The OS actually says that he is back in Russia sorting out his visa, that he comes to the UK next week for the Wales v Russia match and he will join up with EFC after that. So he will be available for the 13th Sept i.e. our next match after Wigan
  9. Llambias just playing with words. We can still have a dialogue with him about the numbers required for them to agree to a deal before we put a formal offer in. Only problem is that both him and Ashley are shady b@stards and wouldn't trust either further than i can piss.
  10. In terms of 'eligibility', the criteria is to have played 75% of your country's internationals in the previous 1 or 2 years - which Banega does not meet, he only has 2 caps. We were hoping to secure a waiver on the basis of him playing for the Un der 23 team in the Olympics last year.
  11. Agree - there actually won't be a problem with a permit for Bystrov, I'm just being facetious. All this anticipation is killing me!
  12. Praps we're back in for Victor Obinna as well
  13. Apparently we'd need a work permit for this fella too - so maybe we're doing that at the Home Office today as well. You can but dream
  14. Eugeni, seems strange because Everton have confirmed that they will attend the Home Office (the UK government department controlling immigration) tomorrow to seek a work permit for Banega - so there must be some agreement between Valencia and Everton. However, I think it is unlikely that Everton will be successful, so maybe Emery is saying all these things so that when he has to take the player back it shows that he always wanted him in the team? We'll both know better tomorrow!
  15. Bentley is a quality footballer - proved it at Arsenal and Blackburn. Admittedly he may have got a bit big for his boots following his high value transfer (15 mill?) but he's not the first multi-million pound flop at Spurs in recent years - think Bent and Pavlyuchenko. A taste of Moyes discipline would get the best out of him - and in World Cup year don't forget. Lets get him and Hutton and solve our right side crisis in one go. And ask about Jenas while we're at it.
  16. Thinking about clearing is desk maybe................
  17. 1. After a good season last year are you expecting similar or better and does the Arsenal result change your opinion or was it just one of those days? Hopefully the Arsenal result was a one-off but it demonstrates how each year teams are improving their first XI's and overall squads and Everton are yet to do that in this transfer window. Here's hoping we still can. 2. Due to a serious lack of resources many people regard the Clarets promotion as a miracle. Now that we are in the Premier amongst the money men, Burnley have kept the spending low and capped player’s wages to 15k per week. Is this a good idea? I think it's a good idea. To bankrupt the club would be a disaster - look at Southampton, Norwich and Leeds. Get hungry players who are deteremined to prove that they are worthy of a place in the PL and have a really good bonus structure that will reward them if they stay up. 3. Which Everton player should we worry about the most? Cahill - if we get set pieces for Baines to deliver, that will be our biggest threat right now. 4. Are there any Burnley player’s that you have heard of and rate? Eagles had a good season last year - needs to kick on and prove he can do it in the top league. Looking forward to seeing if Rodriquez can show his potential further. 5. What position do you predict Everton will finish this season? 8th - I think we will exceed expectations again if we finished above Man City, Spurs or Villa for a position in the top 7. 6. What position do you predict Burnley will finish this season? I'm sincerely hoping 17th. You've got to hope that Wolves, Pompey and Hull struggle. 7. Finally please predict the score for our game? 0 - 1 Everton, Cahill from a set piece. Good luck for the season and I hope you enjoy it.
  18. WTF is going on with our transfer policy!!?? I'm starting to lose all hope of us securing anybody decent! Our targets get leaked to the press and someone else comes along and signs them on the back of our hard work - see Fabian Delph, Kyle Naughton - and maybe yet Rasmus Elm.
  19. I wouldn't be quite so sure DM. Knowing how shady transfer dealings are in this country I wouldn't be at all surprised if City have had some encouragement and then the media releases are just to manage the PR side of it. Otherwise, we'd have already spent some of the alleged transfer kitty on the targets that were (allegedly!!) identified months ago.
  20. I think after Saturday even Moysey's stubbornness must be on the wane. Who wouldn't take the money and try to reinvest it before the end of the window? All of the players we've been linked with in the past couple of days would undoubtedly improve our squad - question is can we get the cash in place in time to put in any concrete offers for anyone?
  21. I know what you mean. I'm just gullible and believed Elstone when he was saying that we'd be an attractive proposition to players. I assumed that we'd already taken into account our outstanding obligations on transfer and loan fees before determining the transfer kitty. Seems it really was just a ruse to flog season tickets
  22. Bigger problem if we can't find the money. We'd all agree that Jags would be worth 8 mil and I think Taylor will be in that class and is that type of player. We had 6 mill for Naughton apparently?
  23. We can only rely on the media quotes that EFC are putting out. What Merk Hughes is suggesting is that they have had/are having dialogue with Everton and are waiting for that to pan out - i.e. depends on whether Moyes can get his targets in the transfer market or has to start to look to spend more cash than we currently have
  24. I should have qualified it by saying Rodwell in centre mid, not centre half. I can't see Rodwell playing at the back at all this season - unless we are really short. Clearly tomorrow it'll be Lescott & Yobo (if fit) and if Lescott goes next week, it'll be after we've signed a replacement or 2.
