What Merk Hughes is suggesting is that they have had/are having dialogue with Everton and are waiting for that to pan out - i.e. depends on whether Moyes can get his targets in the transfer market or has to start to look to spend more cash than we currently have

I should have qualified it by saying Rodwell in centre mid, not centre half. I can't see Rodwell playing at the back at all this season - unless we are really short. Clearly tomorrow it'll be Lescott & Yobo (if fit) and if Lescott goes next week, it'll be after we've signed a replacement or 2.

I think we'll see Cap'n Phil at RB with Rodwell playing more often in the centre. We should see if SAF would let Rafael out on loan?

I think I'd rather have Steven Taylor than Senderos - his versatility makes him ideal for the type of player Moysey will be after. I suspect though that if he's available, there'll be more than us in for him and just about everyone outside Hull and Stoke seem to have better pulling power right now! Better still - sign both!

I suspect that you'll find we are desperate to keep hold of Lescott until we know whether we've qualified for the Europa League group stage. If we don't qualify, he will definitely go and it leaves us about 2 days to spend the cash. Of course, if we do qualify we could still cash in, try to spend the cash in 2 days but at least have a bit of time to bed some new players in. It just looks like we don't have the possibility of signing any new players without some significant income being generated first.
