  1. I've always supported BK cos I think he's had the best interests of the club at heart but if we're consistently competing towards the the top of the league but are failing to compete financially with clubs like Stoke, Sunderland, Blackburn, Newcastle and Birmingham (never mind Villa & Spurs who we've consistently competed with on the pitch in recent seasons)then I think there are legitimate concerns as to why Everton can't get any investment. Where are the answers? Come on Elstone, lets have an honest and open discussion about it.
  2. And Holtby is an evertonian. If we spent the pienaar cash on hotlby and dier that would be good business
  3. I'm more annoyed that Spurs have been tapping him up for months and deny it, then Harry is always so self righteous if it happens to them. Proof is that he couldn't agree terms with Chelsea even tho Harry reckoned that they'd be paying more than Spurs. We should raise a formal complaint once we've got the 3 mill safely banked.
  4. Mate, Sullivan and Gold are horrible people and I wouldn't want then within 100 miles of my club but they will make a bomb out of WHU when they get the Olympic Stadium. Maybe BK's holding out for a joint stadium to get built and then we'll be infinitely more saleable.
  5. It's clear that there are potential investors out there looking at the EPL and that Everton must be a significantly better prospect than many (if QPR can.....) so somewhere there must be a problem with the valuation of the club or the funds required to allow new owners to start investing in the team. No point the Board telling us they're trying to meet with suitable investors if they aren't transparent with what they want in return for the investment. We could speculate - price to buy out current directors (or people with a financial interest in the club, Green, Earl etc), cost of building a new stadium, personal considerations for Bill (he'll want to retain some status at the club) - but rather than speculation, cold facts would be good. The board must have some criteria defined in order for us to speak to potential suitors?
  6. Agree with the sentiment and Felli has been outstanding this season - he was immense on Sunday. Just want to temper the debate with an observation that we had a similar situation last year where we wanted to pay Mikel what it took to secure him on a long term contract. I hope they can get Felli tied down long term and I sincerely hope there isn't a thread this time next year 'What to do with Fellaini'.
  7. Couple of things on the Pienaar situ. It's in danger of going sour because of the way Nuts has behaved in the past few days. Up until now I've had no problem with him not signing a further contract with us, thats his prerogative and we've picked up players on frees before so it would be hypocritical to complain about that. 1) Don't mind that his head wasn't right for the Derby but if he's not available due to an impending move he shouldn't be paid 2) I'll be disappointed if he turns down personal terms with Chelsea so that he can go to Spurs (or somewhere else) on a free in the summer and get himself a hefty signing on fee and lose us £3m that we could really do with to get a couple of decent loan players in.
  8. Steven Pienaar, John Heitinga and Landon Donovan are on. Not sure about anybody else.............
  9. Only been to Carrow Road once - but what a day. 1 - 0 Van Den Hauwe, anyone?
  10. Sorry for not being clear. I didn't mean as a direct replacement more as players we could get and still attract a decent fee on top. We've already seen that DM is sniffing around for direct replacements for Peanuts.
  11. Surely we'd only be lining up this guy as replacement for Pienaar if he does the off. We could cover off £12m in that case.
  12. They are also looking to offload a few surplus players so we could have our pick from Stephen Ireland, Nedum Onhoua, Michael Johnson..... think we've been linked with all of them previously. All good, young players with the EFC work & team ethic.
  13. And his family are all still living in cheshire....
  14. I wasn't going to get involved in this debate, but really Hafnia, this is just rubbish. To suggest that the success of the club has very little to do with Kenwright is so naive. If chairmen have so little to do with the success of a club - take a look over the park. Then look at Portsmouth, Leeds, West Ham, Rangers - all clubs that have spent more than EFC and rotated managers and playing staff endlessly. Compare that with successful clubs (and I mean clubs and not just teams) like Villa, Arsenal and us and look at what stability, vision & determination can do for you. Those attributes come from a philosophy throughout the club and are driven top-down.
  15. SSN confirm that Louis has signed 2 year extension this afternoon. Takes him to summer 2012.
  16. We can't draw another English team (RS or Fulham) or Benfica in the round of 32, but after that it's an open draw.
  17. The reaction of the players at the final whistle was fantastic to see. They'd really battled hard and earned a great result - and the old EFC team spirit seemed really evident. Now we don't have a competitive match in the EL until Feb so we should be starting to get a much stronger team out by then. If I was despondent last Wednesday, I'm much more encouraged now following our last 2 games. I always knew that we'd play worse than we did on Sunday and win and so it proved, but the commitment shown by the players was the thing that really gave hope for the remainder of the season. Onwards and upwards. COYB!
  18. Agree. And I have to say if you don't agree with most of what's written and the sentiment behind it then you would have to question your judgement and whether you want what's best for the club - rather than questioning the chairman's or manager's...
  19. We signed 4 players in the summer who were considered 'potential' - 2 who've gone into the reserves and 2 into the youth academy. So it seems to me that we're looking to sign 'potential' and first team players?
  20. Try this http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/opinion/columnists/david-maddock/Everton-chairman-Bill-Kenwright-deserves-praise-not-abuse-from-radio-show-callers-article217665.html
  21. Seeing as you are 29 you should be able to remember many, many players who are far shitter than Jo, in fact a list so long I can't even be arsed starting to write it. You could try looking up the word 'supporter' in a dictionary
  22. I thought it was unfair that Benfica were allowed more players on the pitch than us - that's why they could pass it around us while we watched isnt it? I've gone for Howard although there weren't a lot of candidates. I'm a big Rodwell fan but I think that was the poorest I've seen him play - he needs a rest with Heitinga back on Sunday. We need the points at WH - so COYB!
  23. It would be great to have Jags back playing at the standard he was before he got injured. The reality is though, that we can't imagine that having Jags back in the side will be a panacea for the defensive frailties we've shown ini the past month or so. It's going to take a few matches to get up to full fitness and until then we can't expect him to be at anywhere near the level he was back in March/April. Remember what he was like the first few months he arrived at the club. Hopefully he's back and playing soon and gets a bit of time to get up to full speed before some divs start complainin that he hasn't made an immediate impact.
  24. I hope for his sake it's not true. Anyone old enough to remember Billy Kenny.........
  25. Sorry but this just smacks of a PR smokescreen for the more gullible. We spent jack crap until we got the Lescott money in. FACT. Naughton and Delph we were outbid on and Senderos we couldn't agree a fee on which suggests we didn't have the money required to land those targets. We didn't get as far as negotiating a fee for Elm as he decided we weren't attractive enough. So we missed out on all of our original targets which left the sale of Lescott inevitable and a last minute re-think of targets having agreed to sell him. Any business would have a contingency/risk plan for such events - where was ours? I agree that ultimately we have ended up with better players than those he claims were on the original target list but again we have a start to the season that's already left us 6 points behind Villa and Spurs. Personally, I don't think it's good enough for a large business such as Everton.
