i hope he stays, even if he does want more wages. The way i see it is; he leaves we are left with Jo (gone at the end of the season), Yak, Anichebe and the just-as-injury-prone Vaughn. Only Vaughn actually runs upfront so we are left with 3 lazy gits who want their goal opportunities on a silver platter. Saha offers workrate, flair, skill and goals.
If he goes, we have to take a gamble on a new striker (who is going to cost a fair bit in signing then wages) and hope for the best. From a finacial point of view, it makes sense (assuming 60k over 3 years = 3,120,000, not including bonuses). We're not going to get anyone of his quality for anything near that, and even with his injury proneness its less of a finacial gamble too.
1 other danger of doing this, and think its been mentioned above, is that its going to up our wage structure around the same time that Pienaar is negotiating his contract and who would blame him if he gets pissed about all that. He is just as important to us as Louis.
hopes this makes sense. had 4 hours sleep, a fair bit to drink last night and packed my glasses in my checked luggage!

well, KO is about the same time as the 1st of my 3 flights today so i will miss another game. Im hoping we just get something out of it. Ive not been able to see the last few games so not sure how we're playing but any result, win or draw, against Arsenal will be good news!

anyone got any idea if the game is shown in the US? Or is this going to be another internet job?

Well that's a night of my life I can never get back .
There was very little quality from our youngsters so if they are the best of what's coming through we're not in a very good situation seeing as we have no funds to bring players in. They've had the ethos of hoof every opportunity drummed into them early, that's for sure. I was very disappointed with the performances.
The youngsters that stood out - Duffy (my MOTM), Coleman and Akpan. I can't believe I was looking forward to seeing Bidwell because I'd heard good things about him; he was atrocious in all honesty.
There was only Hibbert of our senior players who did themselves justice, I thought he had another decent game at CB. Yakubu may as well have not been there for all the effort he put in. Osman was nowhere and kept giving the ball away, but I just know he'll be thrown straight back into the starting line-up against Birmingham
i know where youre coming from Romey but remember, they were kids playing against experienced internationals, a team who have competed in the CL. 1-0 (and we were unlucky not to draw) isnt a bad result given this. Plus we only played with 10 men, Ossie's 1st game back from injury. I cant help but look at the game, though hardly exciting, as an encouraging performance. There wasnt much creativity in the midfield but i think the fact that Ossie had to fill in for Rodwell meant that we lost our 'playmaker', for want of a better word, in the last 3rd. im happy. ish....

Luckypool again... Sporting should be an interesting game though! if we have a bit more luck with injuries, no reason we cant beat them. ive just spoken to a portuguese friend and he told me Sporting are having a tough time this season. i hope he's right! but even if we do win:
Club Brugge/Valencia v FC Twente/Werder Bremen
Ajax/Juventus v Fulham/Shakhtar
Lille/Fenerbahce v Liverpool/Unirea
Panathinaikos/Roma v Standard Liege/Salzburg
Hertha Berlin/Benfica v Copenhagen/Marseille
A Madrid/Galatasaray v Everton/Sporting
Rubin/Hapoel v Villarreal/Wolfsburg
Hamburg/PSV v Athletic Bilbao/Anderlecht
another tough draw...
-
Inter v Chelski will be very interesting, as will AC vs Manure...
quite an interesting but not that important, WHERE'S THE EUROPA LEAGUE!

yo guys! can we have a spider smiley?

They just become addicive (facebook and twitter). What ever happend to myspace, at one point everyone had that, i very rarely go on mine nowadays.
i like myspace but only for the fact that my site is myspace/oklaptop
as a massive radiohead fan it was brilliant! but then you get so much junk mail from people and bands... i got fedup. oh and the fact that the creator adds himself as a friend to EVERYONE and you cant remove him. how very very sad for him....

I think she needs them back.......................
screw Holden (in whichever way you feel appropriate!), i want to see the rest of your avatar!

I think he was good for 1 season (20 goals), only played 5 or 6 games last season and hasnt played more than 2 or 3 this season, its par for the course with Yakubu, He gets bored being at a club after a couple years, it looks to me as if he wants to move on again.
Sorry to disappoint you but i'm not ashamed of myself for speaking the truth about one of our own players.
spot on Bill. Ive never really liked him and never thought he was worthy of the blue shirt. i dont care that he scored 20 goals in 1 season, 2-3 years ago. Even when he was banging them in, he was lazy. He wants things on a platter. I will give this, he can be a brilliant finisher and is very strong but is rarely willing to work for the team. i know he has been injured, but he has been in training a while now, played a couple of halfs and should be fighting to compete. i think the thing that bothers me most is that he is talented but doesnt put the effort in...

its a shame the "waste of space" is getting more attention....
Anyway, gave it to Duffy, just edged Coleman. Ossie played well as did most of the others. But Duffy was solid, he's going to be a biiiig player for us in the future if we can keep him...
-
where the fuck was Yakubu supporting then?
-
are we allowed to just give a player away?
-
yak has been the poorest player on the pitch IMO
you wouldnt know he was playing, lazy bastard. kids are doing well though! good to see Ossie on the pitch too...

Can't understand that, I've been watching the whole game on that stream no glitches.

This.
Got my tickets before AEK match and i cant wait to see the young lads.ADZ Bidwell has plenty of pace and a good crosser of the ball.Old skool wing-back type player(bit like Bainsey.
Starting eleven.
will be a interesting game.
Everton 2-0 Bate
Bidwell 16
Duffy 17
Baxter 17
Forshaw 18
plus a few teenagers on the bench.
you gotta switch Agard and Yak around mate. no way Yak is going to drop back, pick up the ball and run with it. he might break into a sweat if he does...

i envy you all. i only have my company laptop with Windows NT and the oldest version of IE i think that still works (though im reminded at pretty much everysite i go to i need to upgrade - trouble is, if i do i get the BSOD!). i hate computers...
-
whats the fuss about?! i havent used purely because i hate computers (though they do let me interact with you lovely people). Oh, and the fact that Facebook changes like the wind so its like im always starting on a new site. what is the attraction?
-
sorry to ask bill, but why?
-
just get him signed until the end of his career....
-
as good an idea as i think it is to play the youngsters, ive a horrible feeling we will be caught out. Im saying 3-1 to BATE but i hope im proven wrong. best of luck to the boys in blue...

im a little nervous to be honest, but im putting it down to the fact that ive not been able to see us play for the last 4 weeks. i hear we've been playing well and if it continues then shouldnt be a problem.
