  1. well, titles say it all really. Anyone heard anything?
  2. thanks! that puts it clearer than ive been able to!
  3. dont think its bang out of order but i understand where youre coming from. Im not sayin he is the sole reason, but it is a remarkable coinceidence. I do rate him, but he is very defensively minded. As for the being captain point, things can change... Question still remains though mate, who do you drop to have him in?
  4. I havent heard what happened in the end. Was he (and his mother i think too) ok?
  5. just a few comments: 1. Lescott is a good footballer. He is not a great footballer and never was, the papers blew it out of proportion. He will not suceed without someone to bail him out (i.e, Jags). The board and DM did some amazing business to get that much for him, he is probably worth half that at most (which City will soon realise). 2. Distin's age, is it really that big a deal? He is only 2 years old than a certain David Weir was when he joined us, and look at the impact there! Distins experience with the younger, quicker and experience with Baines, Jags, Johnny and Neill is perfect combination. I can see Distin here until he retires, becoming a reliabe sub later on (when he hits 34-35). 3. Distins fee; for what he offers, is an absolute bargin. There can be no arguing there. Evidence speaks for itself...
  6. well then its a funny coincidence then isnt it! Im not saying its soley down to his absense, obviously the players deserve the credit (Billy, Ossie, Pienaar to name but 3), im just saying that we seem, well, better and nicer to watch. I might be wrong here, but i think Arteta should be fit before Nev is, and if our midfield is already that strong, where do you play him? Do you think he will come straight back in if this streak continues?
  7. now hang on guys. I really like him too, but this is 1 goal and we're talking about a 12mill bid?! let him prove himself first, which im sure he will. i agree with the rest though; he desperately needs to play in 442 to be at his best, so its down to DM to see that and play that way. I think he may start to now as were not short of players. The idea of leaving Tim out i dont agree with but i agree he would be an excellent impact sub but so is Felli so why not rotate?
  8. Spot on! He is miles better than either of them... Martyn was a better keeper, no doubt, but he was also 35(ish) when he joined. Tim is only 30, and most keepers are usually best when theyre pushing mid 30's. Considering the skills he has already and that he is only going to improve, he could rival Big Nev and Nige in time!
  9. well, just as i was calling to order them, boss came in and asked me to work Saturday for some urgent stuff. I am not amused. I really hope i can stream it this time.... if i ever get a weekend off in the country again, will try again! but since that hasnt happened for 5 years now(which makes this all the more painful!) i dont see it happening anytime soon! Thank you all for your help though!
  10. "Is it unfair to point out that since Neville has been out, we have won 2 1/4 games and scored 10 goals?" after 3rd goal went in... By the end of the game, was of course won 3/3 with 11 goals, so dont think its unfair at all! What do you guys think? Do you think Davie will put him back in the squad if things continue like this?

not a great job, makes me miss every game! saying that, im confirmed in Kent this weekend so trying to get tickets to the Pompey game. Buggered if i know how though!
  12. hi all, just got confirmation that i will be in Kent this weekend for work, but should be able to go the Portsmouth game! Question now is how do you buy tickets in this day and age? When i lived in Liverpool i would usually just go the boxoffice, but since i travel so much with work, i dont really have a home address (ive checked already with the hotel, they will accept post). Now, i registed with EvertonFC.com's eTicketing and cant seem to book away tickets and have trouble with the phonelines because ive got a foreign phone (dont ask, its the worst network ever, have to dial the country code even when im in the home country). Ive tried a few sites on the tinterweb but am asked to register at the Portsmouth website, which i dont mind doing, but i really dont want to get stuck amongst the Pompey supporters. So, any info guys? Cheers
  13. Biffy Clyro - Puzzle. just finished so now onto the mighty Oceansize. couldnt choose an album so in order: Effloresce, Music for a Nurse EP, Everyone Into Position, Frames. should see me through the rest of the day...
  14. spot on. just an addition, the other big spending teams are very similar to last year, sunderland/spurs/city, and they acheived what last year? to be fair, this year Citeh and Spurs seem to be living up to the money spent but my point i suppose is this: money is nice, but whats wins games is team spirit and a good manager. i will be very surprised to see sunderland/spurs/city continuing their good streaks through out the season. im sure this same arguement cropped up last year when we had a stuttering start....

still not sure which country i will be in tomorrow so im not going to make it, again (stupid job)... enjoy mate!
  16. to be honest, im not that broad of a reader so you wont be suprised to hear that ive read all of them several times. i know who and what i like and tend to stick to my guns. the Guide is my alltime favourite book ever and will never, ever get old! check out Good Omens, its quite an intense read but hilarious at the same time. Most of Gaimans books are intense to be honest so it was a nice twist that Pratchett popped up with some sarcasm and humour. still dark and twisted but there are some laugh out loud moments. easly slots in the top 5...
  17. Milky, are you high?! hasnt improved?! he has been our only creative force since Arteta got injured. he is getting better and better with every game! we cant afford to sell him! good to see ya here though! missed (some of) the blueroomers!
  18. maybe thats just what he wants you to think! other than reading the posts on here, last 3 books: Good Omens - Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman Dune Trilogy - Frank Herbert Hitchhikers Guide - Douglas Adams

yes we should be aiming to win everything but considering the size of the squad, and our luck with injuries last season, i just wouldnt put out our strongest squad when there are more important challenges for us. we have to prioritise what is more important, and in my opinion the premier league, FA Cup and Europa leagues are more important. ive not said once let it go. i did make a point that our reserve squad should be enough to beat Hull, and the people lucky enough to follow the club to away games should still enjoy a sound victory...

ive been sat here for about 10 mins now trying to see if i would make changes and the only one i can think of is giving one of the youngsters a go instead of jo or yak. but do you know what it made me realise? even our weaker squad is reasonably strong! when was the last time we could say that?

i know what you mean mate, and ive suprised myself here. usually im the one saying we should try and win everything. But because there are going to be so many more games on our way to European glory, the Carling Cup needs to be sacrificed so that we dont kill the team through exhaustion! i would love to see us win some silverware, and if we won the Carling Cup, i would be over the moon. But, looking at the team, i would rather gamble with the Carling Cup and have the 'stronger' team for the more important competitions...

although i agree with keeping the team together and getting them to gel, im really not interested in the micky mouse cup. i would rather let Hull have there moment so we can concentrate on the leauge, europe and FA cup. plus, i reckon our reserve squad could undo Hull at the moment...
  23. Diouf is scum and shouldnt be allowed to play football. Professional footballers are supposed to be role models, some slip up (theyre only human after all) and some are too good to let go even when theyve done wrong. Diouf isnt a good player and has slipped up too many times. Liverpool and Big Sam should both be punished for introducing him and keeping him in this league. i hope he gets a ban and a realistic fine, you know what i mean, something bigger than a weekly paycheck...
  24. well said... agreed, this 5 mill estimation is peanuts, especially since Besiktas or whoever offered 8 mill for him. Then take into account stupidly over inflated market.... 10 mill minimum... And the Stevie P comment, come on! he is easily work the 10mill+ figure!
