  1.

Conversely if they were playing for marquee clubs Lukaku would have much better service so many more chances and Stones would have lots less defending to do, so it's a bit difficult to make the comparison. Apples and oranges.

I disagree, i think we make enough chances for Lukaku and a Marquee club demand more as they are competing for more.

Same with Stones, the mistakes he has made this season have cost us games and that can be the difference between winning the league or not.

  2. Man city - last 30 minutes player like dzecko. Would rattle 20+ a season.

PSG - because their league ain't great and he will be able to do less and just wait for service which will come to him.

He would be worth good money to either team. I don't think the Italian league would suit him, the defenders are notoriously man marking experts.

As for stones? Let's see how he looks after his time out. Hopefully he will realise he's had to be a little more appreciative of the club we are

I think he needs to be the main Striker wherever he goes, cant imagine him being happy with 30 min's at the end of a game.

He would be a great fit at Arsenal imo, agree with PSG as its an easy league he'd flourish there. The German league also would probably be a good fit too. If he leaves i cant see it being to another team in the Prem.

  3. Keep on

Focus on buying young talent rather than (always) buying the finished article

Focus on buying the right kind of personality not just the best footballers

Continue to investigate a new ground - marks a turning point and a step change in our future as well as providing income

Keep the work in the community - this stuff makes us different from other clubs

    Change

Much greater focus on running a business

    Elstone out

    Buy back Finch Farm

Kenwright needs to let (probably won't have much choice!) the new owner make his stamp. We are looking for something new now Bill

No more acceptance of "ok" - this shouldn't be a mid table club

    Bloody win something

No more in the shadow of the shite

And I'd like Jake Butland, Yarmolenko, Mayrez please

Butland & Yarmolenko would be great signings. Id be happy with Begovic if we couldn't get Butland.

I'm hoping for 4 quality signings in the Summer & the usual up and coming player for the future.

I can see the Commercial side of the club being the big change. Better deals, more coverage etc.

  4. I can see Stones and Lukaku both being sold in the Summer. Agree with the comment about Lukaku's agent pushing the deal and i think Stones is already gone tbh. I think Lukaku will regret his move depending on where he goes, grass isnt always greener as we have seen before and as much as i like him he will need to improve to play for one of the elite clubs. Would love to see him stay, Stones im not too fussed over tbh. So possibly a £200 million transfer kitty come the summer (i never thought id say that!)

  5. For starters Moyes took us from being relegation fighters year after year to a top 6 side with a crap squad and no money! Of course people stuck by him! Even at the end Moyes was trying and getting close to cracking the top 4 with NO money. He had to beg and borrow!

This building a young team with a new style is a cop out imo. He has seasoned pro's in that mix too. There's no improvement, we're getting worse! And a quick look at other teams (Spurs) introducing younger players and a way of playing does NOT mean you drop to a mid table team.

Whoopy dooo.....we can play some exciting attacking football at time? So we bloody should with the talent in this squad!!

The only tick I'll give Martinez is, he's brought in some good, actually very good players. But again, when your a big club like Everton, so you should be able to. There's also been several duds!

I'm not knocking what Moyes did for us, he stopped us from being relegated and made us into a decent team. Agreed Spurs have been great this season but its taken them years to get to this point!

Several Duds is a bit much? Kone is the only one for me as he's the one we actually paid money for. Alcaraz was shocking but he was free cover so i see the reasons for him? granted he was terrible though.

"Whoopy dooo.....we can play some exciting attacking football at time? So we bloody should with the talent in this squad!!" - Talent brought in by Martinez!

Big club like Everton? Great History yes but we aren't a Big Club anymore, Those days are gone and people need to face up to this. London clubs will always have the advantage and now even teams like Stoke can compete for signings. We cant compete with most clubs on that front anymore. Until we have a new board in place that wants to move the club forward this is a reality we need to face up to.

  6. Pretty sure Moyes would have taken Barry once he was made available (typical Moyes player). Moyes was always linked with McCarthy so that could have happened too. Especially with Wigan going down. Cleverley again a typical Moyes purchase, that could have happened IMO.

Deulofeu, Besic & Mori almost certainly not. Galloway maybe. Who's to say Moyes didn't leave his notorious scouting list at finch farm unwiped?

Lukaku certainly wouldn't have happened under Moyes and if it would. Stones would have been sold and Barkley too imo.

  7. Last season was our worst campaign in years. It was also the worst football I've ever witnessed at Goodison in my lifetime. The writing has been on the wall ever since

Which led to the best football iv seen us play for a long time.

Freshening up an aging squad and instilling a different type of football on them isn't going to happen over night. 9 goals and 3 clean sheets before the WBA game which we should have won but to me teams like WBA are teams we will struggle against as we like to play football and they dont. The minute we lose the shouts of 'martinez out' start, its ridiculous. His subs frustrate me at times, but i do see that in some games we need to change the shape and not just the personnel.

  8. I don't think anyone is "making excuses" for martinez. I make excuses for no one when a lack of quality/professionalism costs Everton.

I believe establishing the criteria between "work in progress" and "enough is enough - get gone" is what is at debate.

He has a lot going for him, but his faults are costing him and overshadowing any good work.

Exactly. Some fans act like Martinez is doing nothing right at all. He has changed an aging squad, brought in some great young talent and is changing the way we play Football. It was never going to be seemless.

Therefore i don't think its as clear cut as saying its time to go, there is a bigger picture to look at.

People stuck by Moyes for 10 years and we basically stood still with a few highlights. At least with Martinez you can see what he is trying to build and create.

I hate seeing Managers sacked after a short time. You cant judge a manager after 2 years when so much needed changing at the club. He frustrates the life out of me at times but iv never seen us play so much great football either. Just my opinion.

  9. Difficult decisions to be made because I want Deulofeu, Stones & Baines at the club next year so they need to be kept happy; but a nice problem to have.

I think Stones is all but gone tbh, cant see Baines ever leaving now i think he will finish his career here and Martinez likes to have an experienced player around. Deulofeu needs to stay, his career hasn't quite taken off and he needs a good few seasons where he feels happy and wanted, i think the break will do him good.

  10. I think its been a successful window.

McGeady out and 8.5mil for Naismith.

2 Great prospects in for the Future and 1 Striker in for the First Team.

Im not a fan of Kone like most others but what he does bring is the best out of Lukaku, so if Niasse is just a better quality version of Kone then it could work out very well for us for a few reasons. I don't know much of him but reports say he works hard, has pace and an eye for goal!, all very positive attributes.

  11. I honestly think its time to sell up for 40-50million while we still can:) get a solid replacement :) and add to the rest of the squad - Striker :)

I agree, he isnt staying forever so cash in while we can. if we received the reported £50m we could buy a few quality players for that.

£40m + Gary Cahill and Chelsea can have him :-)

  12. Newcastle in trouble, so go out and buy quality that'll get them out of the ruck. Everton get into trouble, "We're playing great football, we'll sell a couple of players and take our chances. Thanks"

    Go get a Goalkeeper.

    Go get a creative player.

    Go get another striker.

    Do it now.

Agreed, who would you want for those positions?

  13. I don't think he does get a pass - with Chelsea and Man United having their managers fail then we are down the pecking order. Aside from that the miracle worker Klopp hasn't been so amazing either.

Most journos and commentators have been saying Everton should be doing much better than they are - so I don't think its a valid point to say otherwise.

Are you saying that the press should be doing a witch hunt that sees Martinez sacked/cower into a ball and tell everyone he will turn us into a defensive collosus?

In reality Martinez can point to his net spend and argue that he is doing a good job overall - after all isn't that what Moyes did?

I want a defensive midset change from Martinez as much as anyone but lets look at it like this:-

2013-2014:- Nearly got champs league, most goals and points scored in our prem league history

2014-2015:- poor league season but a strong europa campaign

2015-2016:- wasted points in league and highly frustrating but in a cup semi final

it's hardly a list of failures - more a case of "could do better".

Do people think that there is a genius just waiting to get given the green light to manage us and work miracles of a pretty low net spend? Personally I don't.

I think some fans want martinez to go a snap a branch off a tree so they can beat him with it, his defiance is irritating them more than anything else.

The frustrating thing for me is that we are so close to being good. Just need to sort that defence and keeper out.

  14.

That's what I think Tarashaj was bought for. Competition for Ross, good enough to worry without unseating him.

He's been loaned back tho? We utilised the loan market so well a few seasons back seems we've forgot it exists now! There must be a fringe player for a big team somewhere that could come in a make a difference for the rest of the season.

  15. I'd like to see a new number 10 come in this January even if just on loan, some competition for Barkley would do the team wonders i think. Even if just to give Barkley a rest. It seems his position is under no threat at all.

I don't think we will sign a first team player though. anyone we do sign will be for competition next season.

  16. Play the ball out from the back when its safe to do so, if at times you have to 'hoof' the ball out to stop a goal scoring chance then so be it. Howard is guilty also of this, the number of times he has played a short ball to a defender and instantly put him under pressure this season has been ridiculous. Stones may be classed as a great ball-playing centre back, but he cant be classed as a great defender yet because he isn't one. Martinez may have his stubborn style of defending which i don't agree with but the players have to be accountable for silly passes and taking silly chances.

  17. I think moyes is waiting for the nod to come back.

And I'm not sure how I would feel about that.

I agree, i think it would be the perfect move for him right now.

Not sure how id feel about it either tbh. he never had this kind of squad with Everton but i dont think he could attract these players or keep them either.

I think it would take the whole summer pre season to get us back to defending like we should if im honest, no quick fixes.
