  1. He can join the ranks of the other Kevins that have played for Everton, Richardson, Ratcliffe, Sheedy, Campbell, Kilbane. Can anyone think of any others?
  2. In 2001 I went up to watch my first ever game at Goodison Park, Everton hadn't been playing well recently so I wasn't overly optimistic of a win against West Ham. How wrong I was! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/1567668.stm I couldn't find a You Tube clip of the game so have to make do with this match report.
  3. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4387365/David-Moyes-Its-time-fro-Liverpool-and-Everton-to-share-a-ground.html Whilst no one can deny the financial pressures of top flight football are a massive burden for any team to bear does anybody really think sharing with 'them' could actually work? This seems to be an argument that will go on ad infinitum!
  4. Michael Owen? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18101799
  5. I'm sure I can remember seeing something in the days that followed that said it was common practice for ferrys to leave with the doors still open or only part closed. But this doesn't in any way lessen the horrors of this tragic event.
  6. In an age when managers enjoy a curious cult status - this one's a 'character', that one's a card and the chap over there has a brain as big as the Isle of White - Moyes keeps a low profile. From The Mail on Sunday, 5/2/12 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2096005/Mersey-Beat-The-month-belief-restored-Goodison-Park.html
  7. Did Paul Gascoigne ever do much good while with us?

I don't agree with these 2 up front, I'm at least expecting Howard to start as 1 of our strikers....!
  9. Phwooooaaaarrrr! <feeling all nostalgic>

    Norwich

If we lose this game I seriously think we'll be playing Championship football next season...
  11. We do have one game in hand over the teams above us and if we win that we'll be up to 11th at least, there's always a bright side if you look hard enough.
  12. Rodwell ready to be Everton's new Arteta, http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/3792080/Jack-Rodwell-Im-ready-to-be-Evertons-new-Mikel-Arteta.html Thoughts on this?
  13. I've been to Liverpool a couple of times to watch Everton play and both times I was amazed to see groups of people (young and old) wearing both red and blue football shirts. My Mum's family live in Sunderland so you will not see a single black and white shirt in Sunderland or red and white in Newcastle, the difference is amazing!
  14. I think the goal keepers kit looks awful but my wife disagrees and thinks it looks very good, "you might think it looks horrible but, from a fashion point of view, it looks quite good".
  15. Why would we want Wayne 'I'll be blue forever' Rooney back?
  16. I hope for Sunderland at Goodison. My brother is a Sunderland supporter so it would be nice to show him on day one that we are the much better team with a 3 - 1 hammering!
  17. If Moyse doesn't start the season by experimenting with line ups he knows won't work then we have a decent chance of a top 4 finish. On the other hand if he decides to do his off season trials during the first couple of months of the season then 7th/8th is were we'll be this time next year.
  18. http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/news/2011/05/15/david-moyes-in-aston-villa-takeover-dilemma-102039-23130985/ Can he do any more here at Everton or should he move on and let a new face takeover at the helm?

    Man City (H)

Unfortunately I think the very best we can hope for here would be 0-0 but we'd have to work very hard to keep City out in the last 10 minutes or so.

    Man Utd

I think we'll win this one 2-1 but it will be a hard fought game with our winning goal coming in the 78th minute, an own goal by Rio Ferdinand!
  21. I'm not really bothered where we finish just as long as it is in the top half of the table and it is above Liverscum!

    Reading

I watched the game and was left fuming at how poorly the Everton players performed. For the first 15 minutes 80% of the play was in the Reading half yet the ball never got behind the Reading back 4, Reading by then had settled in and started pushing more resulting in their goal. David Moyse had spent the time just watching from the touch line and despite Reading scoring his attitude didn't seem to change, he still just watched in near silence from the touch line and Everton's play just became more desperate and the team just seem to settle for 0-1 at half time. With Anichebe and Beckford coming on at half time I expected the team to settle down and turn their fortunes but it seems as if Moyse didn't give them the bollocking they deserved at half time and they just carried on as before never being able to score despite having many more chances to. David Moyes needs to spend on a couple of players that would give the current crop some competition as they seem to think/know that they won't be replaced no matter how badly they play!
  23. Could we have another 4-4 epic as we did 20 years ago?
  24. At least The Yak is on the bench, let's hope DM doesn't keep him on there too long!
